Chapter 226 Sign It

When Adeline arrived at the hospital, Linda was still in the emergency room.

Outside the emergency room were Lyndon with tear-streaked face and the stern-faced David.

Zavier, who should have been guarding Linda's room, was nowhere to be seen.

Coming down from the elevator, Adeline rushed over like a madwoman. "Lyndon, how is Linda?"

Lyndon, with his hand grabbed by her, could only cry, unable to utter a word.

"My people got her out."

David glanced at Adeline with a furrowed brow.

Yesterday at the abandoned factory, he was busy catching Gabriel, only giving this woman a cursory glance and not paying attention to her appearance.

It was only today that he realized this woman indeed had the capital to drive men crazy.

Adeline bit her lip, quickly released Lyndon's hand, and looked up at David. "How is Linda?"

"She's not looking good." David furrowed his brow lightly. "This morning, my people found out that some of Gabriel's men went to the Evelyn's family villa. Instead of starting to rescue Gabriel after returning, they targeted the Phoebe family.

"I owe Jasper a favor, and I know there's some connection between the Phoebe family and Jasper, so I had someone follow them in secret.

"But the gang is too busy today, my brothers are all distracted, and the guy tracking that group lost them."

David turned his face away, unable to look at the tears on Lyndon's face. "When my people went in, this woman had already been beaten to unconsciousness."

Adeline felt her head explode.

She couldn't hear anything David and Jasper said afterward.

"When my people went in, this woman had already been beaten to unconsciousness."

These sentences from David kept echoing in Adeline's mind.

Adeline's face turned pale as she staggered backward, her hands clenched into fists.

So, Linda had already been raped.

She closed her eyes, filled with despair.

No wonder there were only David and Lyndon here.

Zavier was absent.

He must have thought Linda was dirty, messed up, not worthy of him.

At the time when Linda needed him the most, he avoided her for these reasons.

Adeline closed her eyes.

A day ago, she had told Linda that she and Zavier were a perfect match.

A day later, the whole world had changed.

"Adeline, don't be too sad. Linda has already been rescued, hasn't she?"

Seeing Adeline's body swaying almost falling, Stella affectionately supported her. "It's okay.

"Linda just has a bit of a dark past. As long as Zavier doesn't mind, Linda's future won't change."

Stella had long noticed Zavier's absence.

After hearing David's words, she was even more certain that Zavier was disgusted with Linda.

Intentionally, Stella said, "I'm just concerned. After all, with such a big incident involving Linda, it's not right for Zavier to be absent."

Adeline leaned back in the chair, her mind replaying the scene of herself and Linda drinking together yesterday.

From start to finish, it was her who offended the Evelyn's family, causing Evelyn to jump off, making Morris furious—it was all her.

Why did they end up treating Linda like this in the end?

Linda hadn't done anything.

She hadn't even mentioned the Evelyn's family's name at the press conference.

Even if Linda was her friend, there was no reason for them to treat Linda like this without catching her.

She couldn't understand.

After some time, the door to the emergency room opened.

Linda, covered in injuries, was wheeled out by the doctor.

"She's out of danger now.

"It's mostly external injuries, no internal organs or bones affected."

The doctor pushed up his glasses. "However, she suffered a head injury, causing a concussion and partial memory loss in the short term."

Adeline bit her lip and rushed to Linda's bedside.

The woman lying on the bed had her blood cleaned off her face, but the bruises and swollen handprints on her face were still clearly visible.

She bit her lip, enduring the heartache, reaching out to pull up Linda's sleeves and collar.

As expected, her arms, neck, and chest were covered in large bruises and marks.

It seemed like they really wanted her dead, each injury severe as if to shatter Linda's bones.

Tears streamed down Adeline's face. "Linda, I'm sorry..."

If Jasper hadn't rescued her yesterday, would it have been her enduring this instead of Linda?

If she hadn't acknowledged Linda this time and kept her distance, would Linda not have encountered this?

The more she thought, the more guilty and sad she felt.

Finally, Linda quietly reached out her hand and gently tucked Adeline's hair behind her ear. "I'm fine.

"Why cry? You look the ugliest when you cry."

Just these two sentences made Adeline's emotions completely unravel.

Tears flowed like a flood, she grabbed Linda's wrist. "Linda..."

Even the doctor beside her was moved by her tears. "It's all external injuries, she'll recover in a month, don't be so sad."

Finally, the doctor lifted Adeline from the bedside. "We need to take the patient back to the ward."

Adeline bit her lip, about to say something, when the elevator door in the distance opened.

Zavier, dusty and tired, walked down from the elevator.

"Zavier!"

Lyndon's eyes instantly lit up.

"I knew you wouldn't abandon Linda!"

Upon hearing his father mention Zavier's name, Linda, weakly propping herself up, tried to sit up. "Zavier..."

Zavier furrowed his brow, slowly walked up to the pale-faced Linda. "Are you okay?"

Linda looked at him, her eyes full of expectation and warmth. "I'm fine."

"Zavier... Thank you for coming."

"If you're fine," Zavier coldly interrupted her, taking out a divorce agreement from his pocket and laying it neatly in front of Linda. "Sign this."
