Chapter 737 No More Fate

Outside the Intensive Care Unit

Oliver and Dennis stood by the floor-to-ceiling window, their eyes fixed on the two women inside the room.

At that moment, Zara was holding Adeline's hand, tears streaming down her face as she poured out years of longing and sorrow.

Adeline listened quietly, her head bowed.

From their vantage point, they couldn't see Adeline's expression.

But judging by the slight tremors in her back, Adeline was just as emotional.

Dennis furrowed his brow and patted Oliver on the shoulder. "You couldn't hold back."

Oliver pressed his lips together and nodded heavily.

Initially, he hadn't planned on bringing Adeline back to the Phoebe family.

For one, he could see how much Adeline meant to Jasper, and he knew Jasper would do anything for her.

He didn't want this star-crossed couple to be torn apart by family feuds.

Secondly, as Howard and Esther's son, he understood his own inner turmoil and helplessness. So, when he thought of Adeline and Jasper's three children, he couldn't bear it.

As a relative of both Adeline and Jasper, he naturally hoped they could ignore the family hatred and be together.

But his hesitation couldn't outweigh Zara's twenty-plus years of raising him.

If Zara couldn't recover this time, he didn't want her to die with regrets, kept in the dark.

Dennis sighed. "You know..."

Before he could finish, the elevator doors opened.

A bodyguard rushed in. "Mr. Phoebe! Urgent news! Mr. Foster is here! He's downstairs, demanding you come down immediately!"

Oliver's brow furrowed. "So soon?"

He had anticipated that Mia wouldn't let Adeline's abduction slide.

But he hadn't expected Jasper to act so quickly.

After all, this was Oceancrest City, not Jasper's territory.

How could he have tracked their route and location in just half an hour?

This hospital wasn't even the one Jasper had initially taken him and Dennis to.

The Phoebe family had secretly transferred Zara several times.

There were at least a hundred hospitals in Oceancrest City, yet Jasper had pinpointed this one so quickly. A chill ran down Oliver's spine.

Jasper, his cousin, was even more ruthless and decisive than he appeared.

In such a short time, he had already established a team and network in Oceancrest City.

"I'll go."

The bodyguard's words made Dennis frown.

He gave Oliver a deep look. "Stay here with them. The Phoebe family will likely come soon, knowing you brought Adeline. I'll handle Jasper."

Oliver nodded. "Thanks."

Dennis waved dismissively before turning to leave.

They had grown up together, and Oliver had once saved Dennis's life.

It wasn't worth a mention to help him with such a trivial matter.

Soon, Dennis was downstairs.

In the reception room, Jasper sat on the sofa, smoking. Several cigarette butts littered the floor in front of him.

Dennis pushed the door open and sat beside him with a smile. "Finding this place so quickly is impressive."

Jasper shot him a cold glance. "What's Oliver's game?"

If Oliver hadn't saved him and taken care of him recently, he would have stormed upstairs by now, instead of waiting quietly.

Dennis smiled and fiddled with his phone. "No game. You know Mrs. Phoebe is gravely ill. Oliver just wants Mrs. Phoebe to see Adeline one last time before she passes."

Dennis's words made Jasper's eyes darken.

"Why would Mrs. Phoebe want to see Adeline before she dies? Is she planning to avenge her daughter Molly?"

Jasper's words made Dennis shake his head helplessly.

"Jasper, I don't believe someone as smart as you can't see the connection."

The room fell silent.

The man in black narrowed his eyes, his presence suffocating.

Dennis frowned. The intense pressure told him Jasper was angry.

He was angry because Dennis had pointed out a truth Jasper had been unwilling to face.

"Some things don't disappear just because you ignore them."

Dennis handed his phone to Jasper, showing him some photos. "As a man who took control of the Foster family at seventeen and revived it, your intelligence and emotional intelligence are too high to resort to avoidance and wishful thinking. It seems even a business genius is powerless against emotions, right?"

Jasper took the phone.

The photos were of a young woman.

Though old, the woman's face was identical to Adeline's before her plastic surgery!

He suddenly felt suffocated.

He had once wondered why Adeline's car accident had completely destroyed her face.

Now, looking at Zara's photos, he understood.

The resemblance between Adeline and Zara was so uncanny that anyone would have guessed their relationship instantly.

If Brandon hadn't altered Adeline's face, he couldn't have hidden her and used her to threaten the Phoebe family.

Jasper's eyes filled with pain as he thought of this.

How much pain and suffering Adeline must have endured during the surgery. If it was just to fix her face, it would be one thing. But if it was to be used as a tool by Brandon, the more he thought about it, the angrier he became.

He even felt an urge to grab a gun and aim it at Brandon's head again.

"Jasper."

Dennis's voice snapped him back to reality.

Dennis stared at him, speaking earnestly, "These photos and Molly's relationship with Adeline. I think you can see that you and Adeline might never be together again."

The words made Jasper's face darken. He reached out and grabbed Dennis by the throat.

"How dare you utter such words? Do you think Adeline would really abandon me and our children for a family that never raised her? Impossible!
