Chapter 15 Let's Talk

"Today, I want to eat a small cake!"

In the children's room upstairs, Lauren pushed open the door with one small hand while holding Adeline's hand with the other.

"It's the one with the fragrant flavor from before."

Adeline smiled helplessly and nodded, "Alright."

The mother and daughter spoke as they walked downstairs.

Just as they reached the staircase, Adeline saw the photo hanging on the wall.

Her body froze. It was a picture of her from before.

She was wearing a wedding dress, standing beside Jasper, watching him with eyes full of love and starlight.

But Jasper, on the other hand, wore his perpetually expressionless face.

Looking at this photo, Adeline felt the blood in her body began to flow backwards.

When she painstakingly selected and hung each of the wedding photos of her and Jasper, adorning every place within his view, she believed that one day, he would understand her sincerity towards him.

But the result was a cruel slap from reality.

Not only did she lose everything she once had, but even her appearance was destroyed.

"Auntie!"

Feeling her stiffness, Lauren bit her lip, becoming even more certain that the woman in the wedding photo was her mommy.

So this is what Mommy used to look like.

So Mommy can also smile happily and be so blissful.

The little girl observed Adeline's reaction carefully, a trace of bitterness surging in her heart.

Mommy's face is really different from before. No wonder Daddy didn't recognize her at all.

"Miss Collins, Mr. Jasper said that you are not allowed to come here anymore," at this moment, the butler's helpless voice came from downstairs. "You are making it very difficult for me."

"Why can't I come here?" Molly's voice was loud and domineering. "They can live here without a care, so why can't I come?"

The butler remained calm, "If you continue like this, I will have to contact Mr. Jasper to come back."

Molly's eyebrows furrowed, "What do you mean? Are you threatening me with Jasper? Don't forget, I am the mistress here in the future! If you anger me, I will punish you severely!"

The woman's words caused the butler to silently lower his head and remain silent.

Although Jasper had always been indifferent to Molly, she has been his fiancée for over five years.

Marriage was just a matter of time.

Seeing the butler's inaction, Molly grabbed a wedding photo hanging on the wall and smashed it fiercely on the ground, "This woman has been dead for six years, and you still hang her photo, bringing bad luck!"

"Stop it!" Lauren angrily pulled Adeline's hand and ran downstairs.

The broken fragments of wedding photos covered the ground downstairs.

The glass and frames surrounding the photos shattered all over the floor, and even Adeline's face in the picture had been ruthlessly stepped on by Molly, making it unrecognizable.

Looking at the mess on the ground, tears of heartache welled up in Lauren's eyes. She wanted to rush over but was held back by Adeline.

The woman held Lauren in her arms and carefully descended the stairs.

Now the ground downstairs was covered in broken glass, and Lauren was just a child who could easily get hurt if she wasn't careful.

"Don't want to let go?" Molly crossed her arms, coldly watching Adeline carry Lauren downstairs. "Little girl, you came back and immediately hung up these photos. Was it your idea for Jasper to hang them?"

Lauren, in Adeline's embrace, nodded with tears in her eyes.

Lauren stared at her fiercely, "It was me who asked Dad to hang it, so what? Dad said Mommy is the mistress of this house. Is it wrong to hang a picture of the mistress?"

The girl's words once again ignited Molly's anger!

Adeline is the mistress of this house, then what is she!?

She glared at Lauren fiercely, "Jasper is just pacifying you. I am the future mistress of this house!"

Lauren bit her tender lip, "No, you’re not! My mommy is!"

"I am!"

Listening to the argument between Molly and Lauren, Adeline found it somewhat ridiculous.

Lauren was just a six-year-old little girl, yet Molly was tirelessly arguing with her.

According to reason, she was Jasper's favored fiancée and could completely rely on her status, so why bother getting so worked up with Lauren?

After all, Lauren was only Jasper's daughter. How could a child influence the emotions of adults?

Thinking like this, she smiled faintly and reached up to tidy Lauren's disheveled hair caused by the argument. "Let’s have some cupcakes! Let me take you out for a treat."

Lauren hesitated for a moment and understood that Adeline didn't want her to continue arguing with Molly.

"Okay," she murmured.

After saying that, Lauren also glanced at the butler who was standing nearby, "Butler Grandpa."

The little girl's voice was soft and gentle, and the butler quickly nodded, "Of course!"

Molly stood there looking at the butler's face, remembering how coldly he had driven her away earlier. The anger in her heart couldn't be contained any longer.

With a swift step, she rushed up and intercepted Adeline's footsteps, looking at Lauren triumphantly, "Do you think if I tell Jasper that I broke those photos, he will do anything to me? He loves me the most!"

"Oh," Lauren agreed nonchalantly, "If Dad loves you the most, then why aren't there any pictures of you hanging at home?"

Molly was left speechless by that question.

Taking advantage of her stunned state, Adeline quickly embraced Lauren and hurriedly left.

She actually didn't want Lauren to have too many conflicts with Molly, not because she was afraid of her, but to protect Lauren from getting hurt.

She didn't want even a tiny bit of harm to come to her. With a loud bang, the door closed, and Adeline carried Lauren away.

Molly snapped back to reality and finally realized what had happened.

She stomped her foot in anger, her high heels pressing on the broken glass on the floor, "Bitch!"

"Ahhh!"

The glass shards pierced her foot, causing her to tremble in pain.

She gave a fierce glance at the servant next to her and said, "Hurry up and come help me!"

The servant quickly supported her and helped her out of the door.

In the car, Molly carefully examined the wound on the sole of her foot and frowned, "Go to a plastic surgery hospital."

She had a sizable cut on her foot and didn't want it to leave a scar.

...

Plastic surgery hospital.

"Doctor Wood!"

When the nurse hurriedly burst into Violet's office, Violet and Bennett were arguing about what to have for lunch.

"There's a patient outside with an injured foot, naming the best doctor to suture her up."

Violet found it somewhat amusing and said, "I am a senior plastic surgeon."

Did she really have to do something as simple as suturing wounds?

"But..." The nurse seemed hesitant. "That patient is arrogant and claims to be Jasper Foster's fiancée, insisting on having the best doctor in our hospital..."

Bennett, who was standing by, furrowed his eyebrows slightly. Jasper's fiancée?

Wasn't that Molly, the mistress?

He glanced around, quickly tugged at Violet's sleeve, and said, "Auntie, since you have nothing to do anyways, why not let her in and you can suture her up? Don't make things difficult for this nurse."

Violet looked at Bennett suspiciously, "When did you become so kind, you little fox?"

Bennett smirked, "Just think of it as me trying to please the pretty nurse sister!"

Upon hearing this, the nurse smiled gratefully, "Thank you, Bennett!"

With both of them agreeing, Violet had no choice. She sighed and said, "Let her in."

After speaking, she turned her head to give Bennett a faint look, only to find him rummaging through his bag.

"What are you looking for?"

"I remember I have a jar of salt in my bag."

Violet was confused, "Why does this child put everything in his bag?"
