Chapter 514 What's Going On Here
After Adeline went out to grab some fruit, she didn't hurry back.
She strolled down the street with her bags, even took a call from Timothy, and gave him some quick advice.
Adeline got a message from Blake. Once she knew Luna was done in the kitchen, she slowly headed back.
"Adeline, what took you so long?"
As soon as Adeline got back to Emerald Crest Estate, Luna came out of the kitchen, still in her apron.
With a big smile, Luna said, "I almost sent Jasper to find you, thinking you got lost!"
Adeline smiled lightly. "I took a call on the way, so I walked a bit slower."
She took the apron Luna handed her, tied it on, and walked into the kitchen.
Everything in the kitchen looked just like when Adeline had left. Even the phone used for filming was still quietly recording.
Adeline glanced at the plate of cashew shrimp she had made earlier, a hint of coldness crossing her lips.
Probably because Luna had finished what she wanted to do, she was super enthusiastic about cooking once Adeline got back.
Even though Luna's cooking skills weren't great, her positive attitude didn't cause any trouble for Adeline.
Soon, a big table of dishes was ready.
"Dinner's ready!" Luna excitedly called upstairs when the last dish was placed on the table.
On the surface, she was excited about the delicious spread.
But Adeline knew better. Luna was thrilled about the outcome she was about to achieve; Lily would be sent to the ICU due to poisoning, and the culprit would be the cashew shrimp Adeline had made. Luna, with her so-called shrimp allergy, could easily distance herself from the dish. At that point, it would be Adeline who had poisoned Lily. Getting rid of two eyesores in her side at once, how could Luna not be happy?
But Luna didn't see this coming.
As soon as Lily sat down, she frowned at the cashew shrimp. "Who made this?"
Luna smiled sweetly. "Grandma, didn't you say this afternoon that you wanted to eat cashew shrimp? I'm allergic to shrimp; I can't even touch it. As long as I am close to it, I'll be uncomfortable, so I had Adeline make it for you. Try it and see how it tastes."
Lily glared at her coldly, then glanced at Adeline, her face full of displeasure. "What the hell! I'm allergic to peanuts, and this dish has so many crushed peanuts. Are you trying to put me down?"
Her words instantly made the atmosphere at the table awkward.
Luna's eyes widened in disbelief. "Grandma, you're allergic to peanuts?"
Then she looked at the dish on the table.
Besides cashews and shrimp, it was filled with crushed peanuts, which were almost more than the cashews and shrimp combined!
Seeing Lily angry, Jasper frowned and turned to look at Adeline.
Adeline pursed her lips and put on an innocent face like Luna. "I didn't know Grandma was allergic to peanuts. I just thought adding crushed peanuts would make it taste better."
Jasper looked at her, a hint of coldness in his eyes. "You didn't know?"
When Adeline was with him, she had memorized all of Lily's preferences to please her. Adeline knew better than anyone that Lily was allergic to peanuts! But now she was pretending to be innocent, saying she didn't know?
"I really didn't know." Adeline shrugged. "Maybe I knew before but forgot. My memory isn't great, and I haven't been in contact with Grandma for a long time."
Adeline sighed helplessly and switched the cashew shrimp with a dish in front of Luna. "Grandma, have this instead. It's also good, and I made it especially for you."
Lily's expression finally softened a bit.
Lauren said, "Let's eat. I am starving!"
Seeing Jasper still glaring at Adeline, Lauren quickly smiled and put some food in Jasper's bowl. "Daddy, try the pineapple beef my mommy made. It's really sweet and delicious!"
Jasper frowned and smiled faintly. "Okay."
Luna watched the scene unfold, her eyes growing colder.
Lauren called Jasper "Daddy" and Adeline "Mommy" with exaggerated emphasis on both titles, clearly asserting Adeline's authority.
They were her daddy and mommy. While Luna was an outsider!
This thought made her already agitated heart even more uncomfortable.
The cashew shrimp lay quietly in front of Luna, untouched.
What should she do now? She had calculated everything but didn't account for Lily's peanut allergy, nor did she expect Adeline to add so many peanuts to the dish!
Jasper asked, "What are you thinking about?"
Suddenly, Jasper's voice pulled her back to reality.
Jasper elegantly placed a piece of green vegetable in her bowl, his voice calm. "Didn't you say you had something to announce at dinner tonight?"
Luna's body stiffened! Jasper was reminding her to apologize to Adeline. But the apology was just an excuse to get Adeline to come over. She had no intention of apologizing to that wretched woman. She would never apologize in this lifetime!
Seeing Luna's reluctant and troubled expression, Blake and Lauren exchanged a glance and secretly laughed.
"Announce what?"
Lily snorted, her gaze coldly sweeping over Luna's face. "What could she possibly have to announce?"
"Grandma." Jasper frowned. "Don't say that about Luna."
He then turned and looked at Luna gently. "When do you plan to announce it?"
Luna's hands clenched into fists at her sides.
Although she knew Jasper had agreed to help get Adeline to the house for dinner so she could apologize, seeing Jasper so eager for her to apologize still made her feel terrible. Was Adeline really that important to him?
At that moment, Lily, who had just taken a few bites, suddenly turned pale and clutched her stomach.
Blake and Lauren exchanged a glance and quickly mimicked Lily, clutching their stomachs. "Stomachache! It hurts so much!"
In an instant, three people at the table started groaning in pain.
Jasper's eyes darkened, and he quickly picked up the phone. "Ryan, call the family doctor!"
Luna was stunned.
She looked at the untouched cashew shrimp. What was going on?
