Chapter 428 Have a Child for You

Adeline's words shut everyone up real quick.

Jasper just squinted at her, not saying a word.

Luna bit her lip, looking unsure.

Freya froze in her tracks.

After a few beats of awkward silence, Freya took a deep breath and got up.

She knew the drama between these folks was messy.

But dang, she didn't think it was this messy.

So, she quickly packed up her stuff and wrapped up her work. "I've checked Ms. Jones three times, and she's all good. Tomorrow,"

Jasper shot her a look, and Freya quickly corrected herself, "Tomorrow, Ms. Jones will be just fine."

She grabbed her medical kit and stood up. "I won't keep y'all any longer; I'm out."

None of them were easy to deal with, and she didn't want to get tangled up in their secrets.

As Freya left, she thoughtfully closed the door behind her.

Now, it was just the three of them in the room.

Luna bit her lip, glanced at Adeline, then at Jasper, and finally locked eyes with Adeline, looking all hurt. "Ms. Wilson, why? Why couldn't you keep your distance from Jasper when I asked you to? Is it because you..."

"You're overthinking it," Adeline cut her off coolly. "Ms. Jones just heard it too, Mr. Foster paid Blake's medical bills. He wanted me to pay back the money my friend lent me and covered the bills himself to keep me at Foster Group, working for him, making money for him. Plus, having me, the ex-wife, around might make Ms. Jones a bit jealous, spicing things up."

Adeline's words made Jasper squint a bit more.

He gave her a cold look but stayed silent. So, that's how she saw him.

Adeline continued, "So, there's no way I can keep my distance from Mr. Foster. No company president can completely avoid contact with a designer in their own company."

She shot Luna a cold look. "Instead of making things hard for me, Ms. Jones should talk to Mr. Foster and ask him to let me go from Foster Group sooner."

Luna's face went pale.

Seeing Luna speechless gave Adeline a bit of satisfaction.

Adeline smiled at Luna and Jasper. "It's getting late; I won't keep you up any longer. Good night."

Without waiting for their reactions, Adeline walked out.

After a few steps, she seemed to remember something and came back, giving Jasper a faint look. "By the way, Mr. Foster, Blake's got a bone marrow transplant surgery tomorrow. Other kids usually have both parents with them during surgery, so I'm inviting you. If you have time, please come to the operating room to see him. It might cheer him up."

With that, Adeline left.

Jasper stood there, squinting slightly.

After Adeline's figure completely vanished down the hallway, Luna bit her lip and looked up at Jasper with a pout. "Jasper, did you see that? I just made a simple request. If she didn't agree, I wouldn't have done anything to her. Why did she have to talk to me like that?"

She bit her lip again and held Jasper's strong, dry hand. "Jasper, can't you really let her leave the Foster Group?"

Luna knew what Adeline had just said. She just needed a chance to bring it up to Jasper. Adeline was too important to him, and she didn't want her hanging around Jasper any longer.

Jasper squinted and pulled his hand away from Luna's. "Do you not trust Adeline, or do you not trust me?"

His cold words made Luna bite her lip harder. "That's not what I mean."

Jasper said, "Since I agreed to be with you, I'm not going to abandon you. That's what I promised. Adeline is just my ex-wife, and as you can see, we don't get along. Isn't that enough to reassure you?"

"But Jasper," Luna lowered her head, her voice full of hurt. "Maybe it's because this is my first relationship; I feel very insecure. It's my fault, my mindset is flawed. I'll work on it."

She bit her lip again. "I just don't get it. There are so many great jewelry designers out there; why does it have to be Adeline?"

"Because she's the mother of my kids." Jasper frowned slightly and walked to the bed, staring out the window with a complicated look. "Don't worry, she'll leave with the kids sooner or later. I just want to keep her in Radiance Springs a bit longer for work. Once she leaves, I might never see the kids again."

Jasper's words left Luna stunned. She hadn't thought of that.

Luna squinted at Jasper's back. He really went to great lengths to see Adeline a few more times.

But even though she thought this way, Luna's expression stayed soft and weak. "I understand. Jasper, I'm sorry; I misunderstood you."

Luna sighed, her eyes filling with tears. "Will you forgive me? I only thought about how uncomfortable I felt seeing you with Adeline and forgot that you're also a father."

Luna's soft voice made Jasper slightly irritated. He didn't know why.

When he first met Luna, her soft voice made him feel sorry for her. He felt bad for her being sick at such a young age.

But now, after spending more time together, every time he heard her speak in that voice, it made him uncomfortable.

Maybe it was because he realized she wasn't as innocent as he thought, and his feelings changed?

Thinking of this, Jasper sighed, walked over to her, and gently tucked her in. "Sleep, you have surgery tomorrow."

"Jasper," Luna bit her lip and grabbed Jasper's wrist just as he was about to leave. "Can I ask for one thing? Once I recover from my surgery, could you let me, before I die, have a child with you, just like Adeline?"
