Chapter 627 I Won't Let Her Be Arrogant for Long

Bennett was sprawled out on the couch, his body a mess of bruises. His face was swollen with handprints, and his left eye had a nasty purple ring around it from a punch.

There wasn't a single spot on Bennett that wasn't hurt. Even a chunk of his hair had been yanked out, showing his red, irritated scalp. His right leg dangled off the couch, looking like it had a broken shinbone.

Jason, who was pushing thirty, had never seen anything like this before.

Despite everything, Bennett managed to smile at the doctor who was cleaning his facial wounds. "Thanks. You've been at this for a while. Need a break? It's okay; it doesn't hurt that much anymore."

Seeing how tough he was, the doctor kept working on his wounds, tears streaming down their face. "You're a good kid; you'll get better soon."

"I believe that too." Then he reached out and grabbed Lauren's hand beside him. "Don't worry, the doctor said I'll be fine soon."

Hearing this, Lauren started crying even harder.

When Adeline and Jasper walked in with two others, they saw Bennett in such a bad state but still trying to comfort the doctor and Lauren.

That sight finally broke Adeline, and she started crying uncontrollably. She rushed forward, tears streaming down her face, "Bennett!"

On the living room floor were several big bottles of medical alcohol that Alice had brought to clean Bennett's wounds.

As Adeline rushed over, she accidentally kicked over the glass bottles, sending shards everywhere. But she didn't seem to notice, stepping on the shards to get to Bennett and hugging him tightly.

"It's all my fault! Are you okay? I should have protected you! Out of the three kids, you're the most thoughtful, always helping me with Blake and Lauren. But I lost you and let you go through this. It's all my fault!"

Adeline's tears soaked Bennett's wounds, causing him a burning pain. But he didn't seem to feel it, lifting his hand to cup Adeline's tear-streaked face, "Mommy."

Adeline, who was crying, suddenly froze. She stared at Bennett's face, her tears momentarily stopping. "What did you just say?"

"Mommy." Bennett smiled at her, reaching out to gently wipe away her tears. "Blake showed me the DNA report. Turns out Blake and I aren't just twins; we're actually triplets with Lauren. You're my real mom."

Bennett sniffled, tears welling up in his eyes. "Blake said we used to live together. Even though I don't remember it, I'm happy now. My mom isn't a bad person, and I'm not a bad kid."

Bennett's words made Adeline cry even more. She hugged Bennett tightly. "That's right. You're my child!"

He pursed his lips and silently reached out his bruised little hand to hug Adeline. "Mommy, I'll listen to you from now on and stay with Blake and Lauren. I believe I'll get my memories back."

Adeline bit her lip and nodded silently, just about to say something. Suddenly, there was a heavy thud behind her.

"Daddy!" Lauren's and Blake's cries filled the room.

Adeline spun around, startled. Jasper had collapsed, his face pale as a ghost.

Jason and Mia quickly helped him up.

Doctors rushed in, some tending to Bennett, others stitching up Jasper's wounds.

Adeline ran back and forth, helping wherever she could. After a whole day of chaos, by evening, Blue Bay finally settled down.

Bennett's broken shinbone was now in a cast; the doctor said he was young and would heal well with proper care. Most of his injuries were external and would heal with time.

But Jasper's condition was much more serious. He had been stabbed several times in the abdomen on Maple Avenue, and Bennett had added another stab.

The explosion in the underground warehouse had caused further damage, and he had worsened his condition at the press conference to save Adeline.

One of his wounds had been reopened multiple times, making his condition very severe. After fainting, Jasper developed a high fever and began to mutter incoherently.

Adeline stayed by his side all afternoon, listening to his ramblings. Sometimes, he would apologize and confess to her. Other times, he expressed guilt about the kids. He also lamented the lack of parental care during his own childhood.

Adeline stayed by his side, holding his hand tightly. At that moment, she finally understood that Jasper's emotional detachment was because he had lacked so much since childhood.

His mother had died in childbirth. Nathan had left to travel the world after his birth, finding a mistress and having an illegitimate child.

Lily had taken care of him, but she spent most of her time managing and running the Foster Group. Jasper had been independent since childhood, not because he was inherently strong. But if he wasn't independent, no one would help him or show him warmth.

In his coma, he repeatedly murmured, "I don't want my children to be like me."

Adeline felt a complex mix of emotions. She closed her eyes, and after a long time, she tightly grasped Jasper's hand. "You care so much about the kids. Why did you agree to let Molly move into Blue Bay?"

Since she had returned to the country, Molly had tried several times to kill Lauren and Bennett, even abusing Bennett to this extent now.

She couldn't understand why Jasper had agreed to let Molly move in. The thought of the kids having to see that demon in their home every day made Adeline feel suffocated.

Jasper, with his eyes closed, took a deep breath and weakly said, "Keeping her close allows us to gather more evidence of her crimes, and letting her think she's about to succeed so that she will lower her guard."

He tightly held Adeline's hand, his voice hoarse and low, "I won't let her be arrogant for long."
