Chapter 543 I'll Go Back with You

Adeline and Linda were hiding out in the hospital room, trying to catch every word of Jasper and David's conversation outside.

When Adeline heard Jasper accusing David of messing with his stuff, she went pale.

From the moment David mentioned Jasper showing up, Adeline had a hunch that Jasper knew she was here and had come specifically for her. Otherwise, with his relationship with David, he wouldn't have just dropped by without a heads-up.

Adeline's lips tightened. So, in Jasper's eyes, she was just a possession.

David asked, "What are you talking about?"

In the hallway, David shot Jasper a cold smile. "I don't recall anything."

"Really?" Jasper smirked, his eyes coldly fixed on the closed door behind David. "Need me to remind you what you took from Radiance Springs a few nights ago?"

As he spoke, his gaze towards David turned icy. "David, you should know you wouldn't be where you are today without my help. Is this how you repay my kindness?"

David squinted, staying silent.

David knew that if Jasper had come all the way here, he must be certain that Adeline was here.

When David sent that X-ray film to Jasper yesterday, it was actually a hint. With Linda and Adeline together right now, he couldn't tell Jasper the truth in front of Linda and hand Adeline over.

Seeing David's silence, Jasper curled his lips and switched tactics. "Since you don't know why I'm here, let me fill you in on something recent. Adeline has a severe mental illness. When she has an episode, she not only hits the kids but also harms herself. She broke her own finger. After I sent Adeline to the mental hospital, she was taken away. I've found out that Adeline and Blake were involved in the whole process. Blake even went as far as to abduct the wife of Dr. Smith, who was conducting Adeline's treatment assessment, in an attempt to force Dr. Smith to alter his psychiatric evaluation of Adeline. As the kids' father, I feel it's necessary to educate them properly."

David squinted. "What do you plan to do?"

"Two options." Jasper looked deeply at the closed hospital room door. "One, I find Adeline and have her educate the kids, making them understand their mistake, and then I observe them.

"The other is," Jasper raised his voice, "if I can't find Adeline, I'll send them directly to a juvenile correctional facility, where they'll learn what kids should and shouldn't do through strict education."

Inside the hospital room, Adeline clenched her right hand into a fist as she heard Jasper.

It seemed that what Luna told Violet on the phone was true. Jasper really wanted to send the kids to a correctional facility; he wanted to lock them in a small dark room!

Adeline gritted her teeth.

How could Jasper be so cruel and heartless! Was it really because Luna was pregnant that Jasper didn't need them anymore?

Adeline had never been to a juvenile correctional facility, but she knew they were basically prisons!

Blake and Lauren were only six years old! How could Jasper even think about doing this?

Outside, David was just as shocked. "Juvenile correctional facility? You might as well say you're sending them to prison."

Jasper laughed, his voice cold. "Pretty much. If these two kids don't reflect on their mistakes after helping Adeline escape, they definitely need some correction."

Jasper raised an eyebrow. "After all, they were involved in planning the escape of a mentally ill person."

With that, Jasper stood up. "David, I know what you took from me, and I know where she is. But since you're unwilling to hand her over, forget it. I heard Scott say that if he doesn't see Evelyn by this evening, he'll take Blake and Lauren to court. Although I'm their father, I have no emotional attachment to them, so I won't intervene. I'll let them to the law."

With that, Jasper turned and left.

Adeline leaned against the door, listening to Jasper's footsteps fade away. It felt like countless knives were twisting in her heart.

Scott was going to sue the kids. Jasper wanted to send them to a juvenile correctional facility. Should she keep hiding? What Jasper wanted was for Adeline to show up, right? So be it!

Taking a deep breath, Adeline pulled Linda's hand off her arm and pushed the door open.

In the hallway, Jasper and Ryan had just reached the elevator. Jasper's figure was tall and rigid, exuding a cold and unapproachable aura.

Adeline bit her lip, looking at Jasper's back, gritting her teeth. "Jasper!"

The man about to enter the elevator suddenly stopped. Jasper curled his lips, a conspiratorial smile appearing on his face. The next second, he hid his smile and turned around seriously.

At the end of the hallway stood a woman in a white hospital gown. Adeline was thin and frail; she looked like a kite swaying in the wind.

Seeing her weak appearance, Jasper suppressed the urge to rush over and hold her; he merely curled his lips and spoke indifferently, "So you are here."

"Yes." Adeline met his gaze fearlessly. "You're right. The 'possession' you lost is right here."

Taking a deep breath, Adeline walked towards him with difficulty. "I'll go back with you. Please don't send Blake and Lauren away."

At first, Adeline was far from Jasper, and he couldn't see her face clearly.

As she slowly walked closer, Jasper noticed how terrifyingly pale she was. Her eyes were red and swollen, as if she had just cried.

Jasper remembered the crying he heard downstairs when he and Ryan got out of the car.

Ryan had remarked how hospitals were places of parting, and how heartbroken the woman sounded.

At this moment, Jasper suddenly realized that heart-wrenching cry was likely Adeline's.

"Jasper." While Jasper was lost in thought, Adeline had already stopped in front of him.

Adeline looked at him, her smile bitter and sorrowful. "I'll go back with you."
