Chapter 463 I'm Leaving Right Away
Adeline had no clue either. But hey, she wasn't in the mood to head home.
"Whatever," Vikram sighed, firing up the engine. "Looks like seeing Jasper messed with your vibe again. Wanna blow off some steam?"
Adeline scrunched her nose. "We hitting the races again?"
Vikram shook his head as he drove. "Nah, something different this time."
He took her to the liveliest bar in Radiance Springs, and they started knocking back drinks.
At first, Adeline was hesitant. She knew she was a lightweight and tended to spill all her secrets when tipsy. But once they hit the bar, she couldn't resist and joined Vikram for a few rounds.
After a bit, Adeline started to loosen up. "I was hooked on Jasper from the get-go. I thought we'd grow old together, but look where that got me."
As she spoke, tears streamed down her face. "I gave him three kids, got into a car wreck for him, and changed completely. But he never cared. Women come and go in his life, and every single one seems to matter more to him than me. What am I to him? Just someone to push around?"
Adeline was wasted, crying and ranting to Vikram about all she'd done for Jasper and how cold he was to her and the kids, Blake and Lauren.
Vikram sighed, feeling her pain. He knew the truth about Jasper's feelings for Adeline, Blake, and Lauren. He also knew why Jasper was always so nice to Luna—it wasn't love.
Back then, Luna had dirt on Jasper, and he'd warned Vikram to keep quiet. Now, because Vikram liked Adeline, he couldn't bring himself to tell her. Maybe it was better she didn't know. Did that mean he had a shot?
Vikram sighed again and took the passed-out Adeline back to Blue Bay.
Adeline mumbled, "Jasper."
As Vikram laid her on the bed, she kept calling Jasper's name, even in her sleep.
Vikram's hand paused as he tucked her in. After a moment, he smiled bitterly. Even though she claimed to hate Jasper, she must still have feelings for him. If she didn't care, she wouldn't be so hurt.
Vikram tucked her in and sighed heavily as he left the room.
Just as he stepped out, the dim hallway lights flickered on.
Blake, in his pajamas, stood at the end of the hallway, arms crossed, his eyes—so much like Jasper's—locked on Vikram.
Blake asked, "You didn't do anything to my mom, did you?"
Vikram frowned and checked the time. It was already 2 AM.
"Weren't you asleep?" Vikram asked.
Blake replied, "Your car horn woke me up."
Blake's voice was calm. "When I saw my mom go out with you, I got worried, so I told the night guard to wake me when she got back."
After saying that, Blake stared seriously at Vikram. "You don't look much older, and you're not a good match for my mom. Plus, you're my cousin. So, don't fall for her."
Vikram couldn't help but chuckle at Blake's serious tone.
He smiled, walked over, and squatted down to meet Blake's eyes. "Did Adeline ever tell you to stay out of grown-up business?"
"Nope." Blake blinked, playing innocent. "My mom says in our family, adults and kids are equals. Her business is our business."
After that, he yawned and looked seriously at Vikram. "Mom once said if she ever got a boyfriend, she'd talk to us first. I won't let her be with a murderer."
The moment Blake said that, Vikram's face went pale.
He quickly stood up, took a step back, and his face was filled with panic. "What do you know?"
"I don't know much." Blake pursed his lips. "I'm a hacker. I found some rumors about you from your school abroad."
Blake looked seriously at Vikram. "I also know Luna has something on you and she's been blackmailing you to do stuff for her."
Blake smiled. "I haven't told Mom any of this. Because I know you mean no harm to her or us, I can keep it a secret. But if you try to take advantage of her or have any bad intentions, I won't be so nice!"
Finally, he acted like the man of the house, calling a bodyguard, "It's late. Escort Mr. Das out!"
After saying that, Blake walked towards his room with his short legs.
Even after the door to the kids' room closed, Vikram stood there, shocked, looking in the direction Blake had left. Cold sweat was pouring down his forehead.
At that moment, he even began to doubt whether the person he had just spoken to was Jasper's son or Jasper himself. That innate noble and aloof aura, and the calm and serious demeanor when speaking was exactly like Jasper!
And most importantly, he was only six years old! However, Blake could investigate his past at a foreign school and knew he had something on Luna! Blake was terrifying!
"Mr. Das."
Suddenly, the bodyguard's voice pulled him back to reality.
Vikram said, "I'll leave right away."
Vikram wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and turned to leave.
Back in the car, he leaned against the leather driver's seat and took off his jacket, which was almost soaked with cold sweat.
Before he could start the car, his phone rang. It was Jasper.
Vikram's head instantly hurt. He had just dealt with Blake, and now Jasper was calling. Were they in cahoots?
After a while, he nervously answered the call, "Jasper, you're still awake at this hour?"
Jasper's voice on the other end was calm. "I can't sleep until I see you leave Blue Bay."
Vikram thought, 'How does Jasper know everything?'
Probably guessing his thoughts, Jasper chuckled. "I either care to know or I don't, but there's nothing I can't dig up."
Vikram took a deep breath and quickly started the car. "Jasper, don't worry. I'm leaving right now."
Jasper's voice on the other end was calm. "I found out something today. Tell me, why did you transfer millions of dollars to Luna in such a short time?"
