Chapter 126 Never Trust Him Again
After several slaps, Bennett's face was swollen.
Molly felt a slight release of her pent-up anger.
Standing up, she looked down at the swollen-faced boy. "Aren't you the clever one? Didn't you guess what I was planning? So why did you stupidly follow my orders?"
Bennett looked at her. "If I hadn't shown up, you would've gone after Lauren or thought up some scheme involving my mom. They're women, and I'm a man."
So, it should be him enduring the hardship.
Molly scoffed at the little guy's reasoning, "Quite the responsible one, aren't you? But what's the use of being smart? You still ended up getting beaten by me, didn't you?"
Bennett winked at her, "Guess why I'm getting beat up in your presence?"
Molly frowned and remained silent.
The kid flashed a faint smile. "Take a look downstairs."
Only then did Molly purse her lips, walk to the window, and peek down through the curtains.
"You called the cops?!"
"If I'm not wrong, it was Lauren who called the police."
Bennett brushed his lips lightly and crossed his arms, chest puffed out with pride, and despite his swollen face, the pride and chill emanating from him was identical to Jasper's.
The colder and more aloof he acted, the angrier Molly got!
She had gone through so much trouble initially to prevent Adeline from giving birth to Jasper's child!
She knew that although Jasper never showed it, he had already made up his mind about Adeline.
If Adeline gave birth to Jasper's child, no other woman would be able to shake Adeline's status in Jasper's heart!
And that's why she took such a huge risk, plotting to have Adeline killed in a collision!
Now, five years had passed.
Adeline wasn't dead and had become even more beautiful than before.
She even had a daughter and a son.
To Molly's dismay, her son was almost the spitting image of Jasper!
The thought made jealousy coil around her heart like a venomous snake.
She approached Bennett, crouched down in front of him, one hand gripping his neck and the other holding a paring knife against his tender cheek. "Do you believe I could kill you right now?"
"Of course," Bennett said, lifting his head and smiling brightly at her.
"Miss Collins, you probably don't realize that since you started calling me, someone has been monitoring your every move."
"Do you remember when Tom handed you the phone and touched you?"
Molly's eyes froze for a second.
She thought back.
There definitely was a touch when she borrowed the phone from Tom, who was nothing but a poor security guard. She even rolled her eyes in disgust secretly at his touch.
"You remember now, don't you?"
Bennett spoke with a grin, "When he touched you, he implanted a chip that transmits your every move through an infrared receiver. Everything you say, everything you do, it's all being captured."
He took a slight step back, exposing the dazed Molly to the view from the window, "Look outside; the place is swarming with cops. I don't care whether you want to or can kill me. But one thing's for sure: your boyfriend can't protect you today."
The police had surrounded the building.
No matter how influential Jasper was, he couldn't control everything.
Molly had kidnapped him, threatened him, and even wanted to kill him.
By now, all the evidence was live-streaming straight to the chief's computer at the precinct.
Caught red-handed, the proof was undeniable.
He refused to believe that under such tight scrutiny, Jasper could still come to Molly's rescue!
Last time, he had been too trusting, too willing to give the scumbag the benefit of the doubt, allowing Molly to evade justice for so long.
But now...
The young boy lifted his gaze, his eyes filled with a mix of scorn and smug satisfaction, "Miss Collins, you can't run anymore. This time, you're going to face the consequences of your actions. Not just for this kidnapping, but also for plotting to kill Lauren before, and..."
Bennett narrowed his eyes slightly, "For that car accident six years ago. You won't escape responsibility for any of it."
Molly's body stiffened utterly, unable to move.
She looked down blankly, fixing her eyes on Bennett's youthful face, "You... even know about what happened six years ago?"
Six years ago, shouldn't this kid have been in Adeline's womb?
"Secrets don't stay secret forever."
With a slight smirk, Bennett said coolly, "I know about all the dirty deeds you plotted with Jasper."
Molly frowned, fixing her eyes on Bennett intently.
After a long moment, she allowed a faint smile to cross her lips.
The kid said he knew all about the misdeeds she conspired with Jasper.
But, from the start, Jasper and she were worlds apart.
He was always trying to distance himself from her, so how could he conspire with her?
So, did Adeline and her children all think Jasper was in on it with her?
Molly narrowed her eyes.
Perfect!
"Bang!"
In the instant Molly was lost in thought, a bullet shot precisely from outside the window, piercing straight through the hand that Molly was using to hold the paring knife!
As the woman let out a wail of pain, the paring knife clattered to the floor with a loud clang.
The next second, the SWAT Team that had been ready outside burst through the door!
Molly, unable to resist, was pinned down by several officers.
"Bennett!"
Adeline, who had charged in with the SWAT Team, ran in like a madwoman, pulling Bennett into her embrace, "Are you okay?"
"I'm fine."
Feeling Adeline's nervous trembling, the little guy calmly patted her shoulder, "See, I'm not even bleeding."
Adeline's nose tingled, her eyes stung, and her tears just couldn't be held back any longer.
She turned Bennett's face towards her, noticing his swollen cheek and the dried blood at the corner of his mouth. "And you tell me you're fine?! I always said she can handle her stuff! Why did you even get involved in this mess!?"
If anything had genuinely happened to Bennett tonight, if Molly had done something, she would never forgive herself!
"I'm a man."
The little guy patted Adeline's back firmly to comfort her, "Every time, she targeted you and Lauren.
"This time, she finally came for me; how could I hide?"
He stretched out his little arms, gently embracing Adeline's shoulders, "It's alright. I'm tough; a little scratch is nothing."
After saying that, he glanced towards the doorway.
The corridor was abuzz with activity.
Amidst the shadows, he immediately recognized the distinctive man standing out from the crowd.
He was hidden in the darkness; Bennett couldn't clearly see his face.
But even so, from the unique aura he emitted, Bennett knew who it was.
The young boy lowered his voice, whispering into Adeline's ear, "Every move Molly made has been recorded by Blake and sent to the chief of police's inbox. This time, not even Jasper can save her."
Adeline froze completely.
After a moment, she grasped the meaning behind Bennett's words.
The clever kid used himself as bait to get Molly to repeat her actions that had hurt Lauren before.
That way, they got irrefutable evidence that even Jasper couldn't dismiss!
Realizing this, the woman's tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.
"Should I call you smart, or should I call you dumb?"
"Both smart and dumb, just like you."
Bennett paused, then gently kissed Adeline's cheek. "If I hadn't trusted Jasper too much last time, Molly wouldn't have gotten away.
"Mama, I'm like you. I'll never trust him again."
