Chapter 22 A Warm Embrace

"Jasper!" Molly stood up in shock from her chair.

In a critical moment, Jasper forcefully grabbed a piece of broken carriage door with his hand.

Blood instantly seeped through his fingers. The man's body was hanging outside the carriage!

A wave of screams and chaos erupted below the amusement park.

Anxious, Molly turned back and glared at the bodyguards, "Fix it quickly, hurry up!"

How could it be Jasper who fell?

Shouldn't it be those two bitches?

She only wanted to get rid of those two bitches, she never thought of harming Jasper!

"Daddy!"

At a crucial moment, Lauren reached out her small hand, wanting to grab onto Jasper's hand, but Adeline held her back.

"You're too small, he'll pull you down," Adeline took a deep breath, securely fastened Lauren, and then carefully crawled towards Jasper.

She extended her hand towards him, "Come up."

But Jasper didn't move.

He tightly gripped the metal shard, his voice icy cold, "Don't want to kill me anymore?"

Adeline turned pale. She gritted her teeth.

"I don't have time to joke with you. If you want to stay alive, hold onto me and come up here! Lauren isn't dead, and you can't die either!"

Only then did Jasper smirk, using his other hand to grab hers. With her help, he slowly climbed into the carriage.

Hanging on the side of the carriage, Lauren silently watched as Adeline pulled Jasper back little by little. Her eyes welled up with tears.

How she wished her parents truly loved each other!

...

"You two, help me restrain him!"

In the control room, Bennett climbed off the sofa, commanding the two security guards he had previously bribed with an imposing air.

Once Ryan was subdued, Bennett calmly sat back down in the chair, following Blake's instructions from the necklace, he pushed the control lever again.

"If anything happens to the sir and miss, I won't spare you, child!"

Ryan, pinned down on the sofa, angrily exclaimed.

Bennett frowned, operating attentively while speaking coldly, "It's your reckless movement that's endangering them!"

Under Bennett's serious and meticulous operation, the Ferris wheel cabin once again leveled out and gradually started moving.

"That's enough."

Blake let out a deep breath and turned to look at the surveillance video.

In the footage, Jasper tightly embraced Adeline and Lauren, observing the operation of the Ferris wheel.

He held them both in his arms, perhaps afraid of another accident occurring.

Blake took his hands off the keyboard, crossed them in front of his chest, and silently gazed at the man's face.

The little one, with his tender hands, picked up a nearby piece of paper and a pen, writing the word "father" while staring off into space.

"Blake?" A nurse entered, mercilessly collecting the computer keyboard and the paper and pen in front of him. "It's time for your injection and IV. Your free time for today is over."

The little one nodded silently, extending his hand covered in needle marks, "Go ahead."

...

The malfunctioning Ferris wheel resumed operation, and the cabin with the shattered door slowly descended.

At the moment the cabin touched the ground, cheers erupted throughout the amusement park.

"Jasper!" With tear streaks on her face, Molly anxiously rushed over.

She had intended to dive into Jasper's arms directly.

However, Jasper's left arm held Lauren, and his right arm supported Adeline, leaving no opportunity for her to approach.

At this moment, Jasper, Adeline, and Lauren looked like a family, loving and supporting each other.

Molly's footsteps came to a halt. The vines of resentment spread through the woman's eyes.

The medical staff quickly placed Adeline and Lauren onto stretchers and carried them into the ambulance.

"Jasper, you scared me!"

It was only after the ambulance left that Molly finally had her chance to speak to him.

"I almost cried myself to death! I thought I would never see you again," she pouted, nuzzling her head against Jasper's chest.

Jasper quietly took a step back.

"Sir!" Ryan, with a swollen face and a black eye, rushed over with a look of surprise. "Are you alright? I thought that kid was deceiving me, but it turns out he really had the ability to save you!"

Jasper slightly furrowed his brows and inquired, "What kid?"

Ryan quickly told Jasper what he saw in the control room.

"That little boy seemed to be around the same age as Miss Lauren. I initially thought he was causing trouble, but I didn't expect him to actually save you!"

The tall man frowned, "Where is he?"

"I couldn't catch up to him, so I came here to find you..."

"However, ..." Ryan glanced at the two security guards who had already been subdued by the bodyguards in the distance, "These two are accomplices of that little boy. I detained them!"

Jasper glanced faintly at the two security guards and walked over.

"Sir, we were just trying to help. If you don't appreciate it, that's fine, but why are you keeping us here?"

"Yeah, we're security guards of this amusement park. Neglecting our duties could get us fired. Please let us go back to work!"

Seeing Jasper approach, the two security guards quickly began complaining pitifully.

Jasper motioned for the bodyguards to release them.

"What is your relationship with that kid?"

The two security guards looked at each other and replied, "We have no connection."

"He gave us two hundred dollars to help him break open the control room door."

"At that time, chaos broke out outside, but the people in the control room were just chilling and listening to music. So we broke the door open, and then that little guy went to operate the machines!"

"We didn't expect him to be so young and yet understand how to operate those complex machines so clearly!"

"Mr. Foster," at this moment, the medical staff from the ambulance called to him, "Your wound also needs to be treated at the hospital."

Jasper's palm, which was just cut by a piece of metal, was still bleeding.

He furrowed his brows and gave orders, "Retrieve the surveillance footage. I want to know who this child is. And detain all responsible staff members of the amusement park. I want a thorough investigation into the cause of the accident!"

With that, he turned around and walked towards the ambulance.

The two security guards glanced at each other.

"Then, sir, what about us?"

"Report to the Foster Group tomorrow. With your qualifications, you probably won't meet the minimum requirements for working at the Foster Group." Jasper turned his back to them, his voice indifferent.

"If I were you, I would invite that little boy to have a meal tonight. After all, he changed your fate."

After speaking, he stepped into the ambulance with big strides.

The two security guards exchanged a glance and quickly sneaked to a corner, excitedly calling Bennett on the phone.

"You're right, we really struck it rich!"

Being able to work as security at the Foster Group is no different from getting rich!

Bennett, sitting on a bench by the roadside, looked in the direction the ambulance had left, his voice muffled, "Congratulations to you guys."

Although Mommy and Lauren were eventually saved, he still felt guilty inside. He never expected Molly to treat Lauren so cruelly.

If it wasn't for him suggesting that Lauren go back to Jasper, none of this would have happened today.

Thinking about all this made Bennett feel even more down.

Unaware of his melancholy, the two security guards continued excitedly, "Thanks to you! We can start working at the Foster Group tomorrow! Feel free to come to us whenever you need help!"

Work at the Foster Group?

Suddenly, Bennett's eyes lit up.

He really needed an insider at the Foster Group!

...

At the hospital, Jasper gently pushed open the door to the ward. Adeline turned around upon hearing the door open.

Seeing that it was him, she subconsciously frowned.

After taking a glance at the peacefully sleeping Lauren on the bed, the woman made a "shush" gesture and got up to leave the ward.

"How is she?" standing in the corridor, Jasper asked in a low voice.

"She was scared, took medicine, and fell asleep," Adeline said, her brow furrowed as she briefly looked at his tightly bandaged hand. "Are you okay?"

"I'm fine." The man looked at her. "Thank you."

Regardless of her motives, she did indeed protect Lauren with her life today, and he saw that.

So, she deserved his thanks.

"No need to thank me," Adeline's cold gaze locked onto him. "I'm Lauren's caretaker, and this is all part of my job. As Lauren's father, what you should do now is not come here and thank me, but investigate the mastermind behind this accident."

The woman's gaze turned icy.

Interrupting her, Jasper calmly said, "The accident is still under investigation. It's premature to conclude that it was someone's plot. It could have been an accident."

Subconsciously, he didn't want to believe that this was premeditated.

"An accident?" Adeline let out a cold laugh. "Do you really believe it was an accident? Out of all the people at the amusement park, it just so happened that when we were at the top, our cabin's door broke. Also, the amusement park's professional rescue team happened to be off today, and the remaining staff conveniently didn't know how to handle the Ferris wheel malfunction? With so many coincidences, do you think it was an accident?"

"Or," she looked at him, a chilling coldness hiding in her gaze, "Are you trying to protect the person who wanted us dead?"

"The person who let our daughter fall and die from a height of nearly a hundred meters? If it wasn't for me accompanying Lauren up there today, do you know what the outcome would have been? She's only six years old! To be plotted against like this by someone!"

Every word of the woman's speech pierced Jasper's heart like sharp needles. He stared at her with a cold face, remaining silent.

The expressionless look on the man's face caused Adeline's pent-up emotions to collapse completely.

"If you only want to protect that person, if you only want to protect her, then why acknowledge your daughter! Since you can't take care of your daughter, I advise you to return her to her biological mother!"

Her final words caused Jasper's gaze to freeze for a moment.

The next second, the man directly grabbed the woman's wrist, his gaze fixed on her with intensity.
