Chapter 722 Where Did I Go Wrong

Jasper stood outside Magnolia Estate for what felt like forever.

He knew Adeline was upstairs. The unmistakable shadow behind the floor-to-ceiling curtain was hers, her silhouette quietly watching him.

He wanted to rush up, hold her tight, and tell her that everything was a setup by Brandon and Daisy.

Mia and the few servants downstairs couldn't stop him!

But the cold, unforgiving look Adeline had given him at the engagement party half a month ago made him hesitate.

He wasn't scared of being stopped; he was scared that his impulsiveness would only make Adeline misunderstand him more.

So, he took a deep breath, dragged a bench from the garden, and sat down right in front of Adeline's window.

Jasper sat on the bench, picked up a voice recorder, and began to speak slowly.

"Adeline, I'm wearing a robe today that doesn't suit me. You saw it, right? It's not black, and it's not a suit. I thought my attire just needed to match my status, but I ignored that you don't like black and overlooked many of your thoughts. So, starting today, I'm changing, gradually becoming someone you like. If you're satisfied, would you come out and see me?"

From afar, Adeline could only see Jasper sitting in the garden, facing her window, talking into a voice recorder.

She felt anxious and helpless.

Jasper knew she was fine and unhurt, so why didn't he just leave?

What was he saying into that recorder? Did he truly believe that a few sweet words could make her forget the past unpleasantness and reconcile with him as before?

She bit her lip and told the servants to chase Jasper away.

But whether it was the servants or Mia herself, they had little success.

He wouldn't leave.

And with his leg and shoulder injuries still not fully healed, no one could be too rough with him.

The more Adeline watched, the more anxious she became, wishing she could go down herself and say something harsh to drive him away.

His presence made it impossible for her to focus on anything else.

But she was afraid that if she went downstairs, she might waver and be swayed by his sweet words into forgiving him.

So she forced herself to stay calm, pretending not to care as she leaned by the window with a sketchpad, trying to relax.

But her eyes couldn't help but glance downstairs.

Mia saw everything Adeline did.

She sighed and went downstairs, sitting at a distance, watching Jasper speak passionately into the recorder. She couldn't help but smirk, "Does this really work?"

"Maybe it does." Joseph, grinning, sidled up to her and, taking advantage of her distraction, cheekily kissed her on the cheek.

Mia's eyes widened in shock!

She had been ambushed by a kid!

Mia glared at Joseph, "You!"

Joseph propped his chin on his hand, blinking his innocent eyes at her. "Sorry, I can't help myself when I see a pretty lady."

Mia rolled her eyes and said, "Do you do this to every pretty lady you see?"

Joseph hesitated, then quickly shook his head, "No, no, no! I just couldn't help it when I saw you're so beautiful."

As he spoke, he pointed to his red hoodie and Mia's red coat.

"Miss, look, we both like the same color. We really have a connection!"

Mia glanced at the kid beside her, "You are still too young to discern the colors accurately. Red comes in many shades. Just because it looks red doesn't mean it's the same. Your..."

She trailed off, realizing that the red of Joseph's hoodie was exactly the same as her coat!

She loved this particular shade of red so much that she had many custom-made clothes in this color.

And now, Joseph's hoodie matched hers perfectly!

She was shocked and couldn't help but pout, "It's just a coincidence."

"It's not a coincidence. I really like this shade and had it custom-made!" Joseph grinned at Mia, "Miss, have you met my dad? Do you think he's handsome? Would you like to be Mrs. Phoebe? My dad is quite a catch. You should consider it."

Suddenly, a cold male voice came from behind. "Is that so."

Mia frowned and turned instinctively.

Behind her, a tall, lean man leaned indifferently against a tree with golden-red leaves, his eyes cold as he looked at her.

"Ms. White, you have quite the high opinion of yourself."

Oliver's gaze swept over her, "Someone like you, even if you begged me, I wouldn't want you."

With that, Oliver walked over, grabbed Joseph by the collar, and dragged him away. "Your taste is terrible."

Mia stood there, her expression changing.

Finally, she glared at their retreating figures and said. "Even if you begged me, I wouldn't lower my standards to be with you two!"

With that, she stormed back into the villa.

Joseph pouted, looking innocently at Oliver as he wriggled free from his grip.

"What's wrong with my taste? I think that lady in red is great! Much prettier than the woman you liked before, you..."

Joseph's words were cut off by a sharp look from Oliver, making him shrink back and fall silent.

Oliver stared at him for a long moment before snorting and glancing in the direction Mia had left.

"A person who, in their lowest moments, would use their child as a bargaining chip. No matter how beautiful she appears, it is only a superficial veneer."

Joseph bit his lip, about to say something when his phone rang. It was Nova.

"Joseph, we found the jade ring Mr. Oliver Phoebe lost in Mr. Foster's pocket! But the ring smells awful now. Can you ask Mr. Foster how it ended up with him, and if he fell into a cesspool?"

Joseph was silent.

Strange, he had secretly placed that jade ring on Mia to give to Oliver as a token of love.

How did it end up in Jasper's pocket?
