Chapter 443 Coming to Demand Justice?
Jasper's voice on the other end of the line left Vikram totally floored. Luna's phone was actually picked up by Jasper?
Vikram almost fumbled the phone. He cleared his throat. "Jasper."
Jasper's icy voice cut him off. "Say that again!"
Vikram realized he might've messed up big time. He bit his lip and spoke softly, "I just left Adeline's office. She's super upset 'cause she found out you and Luna were talking about having kids at Bennett's grave. She skipped lunch and has been crying her eyes out in her office."
Since there was no hiding it now, Vikram decided to lay it on thick. "I've never seen Adeline cry like that, gasping for air between sobs. I got pissed and called Luna."
Vikram sighed. "Jasper, how could you do that? It really hurt Adeline!"
Listening to Vikram, Jasper felt his forehead veins throbbing. He frowned hard. "Got it." Then he hung up.
He put down the phone and glanced at the bathroom where Luna was still showering, his eyes narrowing. That morning at the cemetery, it was just him and Luna. Besides Luna, who else could've told Adeline?
Jasper rubbed his aching temples and leaned back on the sofa, waiting for Luna to come out.
Soon, Luna, wrapped in a towel and still wet, walked out of the bathroom. Fresh from her bath, she sauntered over to Jasper with a sultry look, pressing her soft skin against his arm. "Jasper, did my phone ring?" she asked softly.
"Yeah." Jasper closed his eyes, not even looking at her. "It was Vikram."
"Didn't he go back to his hometown?" Luna smiled and reached to touch Jasper's face, but he grabbed her hand before she could.
Jasper pinned her wrist and trapped her between him and the sofa, in a pretty suggestive position. Luna's face turned red with shyness. She placed her hand on Jasper's chest, pushing him away softly, her voice dripping with seduction. "Jasper, don't. It's broad daylight, and we're in the living room. Let's go to the bedroom."
Luna's shy words made Jasper narrow his eyes mockingly as he grabbed her chin with a cold gaze. "Do you know what Vikram said on the phone?"
Jasper's voice and gaze were so cold that Luna felt like she was in an ice cave. She paused, fear in her eyes as she looked at Jasper.
Luna bit her lip. "Jasper."
Jasper said, "I promised you safety and stability, and I'd stick with you for life, but you gotta play nice. You talked about having kids at Bennett's grave and then told Adeline we discussed it there. What do you want? Do you want Adeline to hate me, or my kids to hate me?"
Jasper's words left Luna stunned. After a moment, she sighed in relief. Luna thought, 'So Vikram called about this? I thought he revealed I was faking being sick.'
Luna quickly put on her best pitiful look, gently grabbing Jasper's wrist. "Jasper, you're hurting me. I didn't mean to say those things to Adeline."
She bit her lip, her voice tinged with grievance. "Adeline cornered me after the meeting this morning, demanding to know what we talked about at Bennett's cemetery. She accused me of badmouthing her there. To clear my name, I accidentally spilled the beans."
Tears welled up in Luna's eyes. "Jasper, I really didn't mean to, but Adeline was so fierce. I had to tell her everything to prove I didn't do anything wrong. Please don't be mad at me, okay?"
Luna thought her explanation was foolproof, but Jasper's grip on her chin only tightened. He narrowed his eyes, staring coldly at her. "I've been too easy on you. Do you really think I'll fall for every lie you tell?"
Jasper shoved Luna away, looking down at her disheveled state. "I know exactly what kind of person Adeline is and whether she'd question you out of jealousy. Next time you lie, come up with something better."
Luna scrambled to get up, her face pale. "Jasper."
Jasper closed his eyes, his voice low and hoarse. "After this competition, Adeline will almost be able to complete the agreement and leave Radiance Springs. In this final period, I don't want her to suffer any more harm."
He opened his eyes and glanced indifferently at Luna. "I also hope you can behave. Otherwise, I can't guarantee I'll stick around."
With that, Jasper walked away. Luna lay on the sofa, watching him leave, biting her lip hard. Her gaze fell on the empty glass on the table. Her hands clenched into fists.
That glass of water was laced with medication to enhance male physiological functions. She had deliberately soiled her clothes at noon and brought Jasper home to get him in bed as soon as possible!
She bit her lip and silently closed her eyes. This was the first time Jasper had lost his temper with her since they got together. Maybe she was too hasty.
But with Adeline as the ex-wife and Molly as the ex-fiancée, how could she not be worried and anxious?
Leaving Emerald Crest Estate, Jasper drove straight to the company and entered the design department. When he walked in, Adeline had just composed herself and was sitting at the drawing board, sketching designs.
The noon sunlight shone on her profile, turning a few strands of her hair golden. Her earnest demeanor as she sketched something caused Jasper's thoughts to drift back a few years.
Back then, they had just gotten married, and she often sat quietly at home, lost in her drawing board. Every time she was seriously drawing, he would stand aside and clear his throat, just like now.
Then, she would look up, flash a bright smile, and ask when he arrived, if he was hungry or thirsty, and if he wanted her to make something for him.
Though her appearance had completely transformed now, the gentle and resilient aura she exuded still captivated him. Unconsciously, he walked over and spoke softly beside her, "Adeline."
Jasper's deep voice made Adeline freeze. She turned her head, her eyes coldly looking at Jasper standing beside her, a hint of coldness on her lips.
"Mr. Foster, why aren't you with Ms. Jones? What business do you have with me? Did I say something to offend Ms. Jones, and you're here to hold me accountable?"
