Chapter 818 Why Did It End Up in My Hands?

"Why wouldn't I dare to come?"

After tending to his wound, Jasper shot a cold glance at Oliver and Brandon standing beside him.

"If I didn't show up, I'd really be painted as the bad guy tonight."

Oliver frowned. "Painted?"

"You hurt my mom, the evidence is clear. How can you say you're being framed? Who's framing you?"

"How did Jasper even know what was happening here at this hour? Who tipped him off?"

Daisy, who was being helped up by Brandon after being pinned down by David, winced in pain as she rubbed her body and screamed hysterically.

"Was it you?"

"You saw Jasper's actions being exposed, so you tipped him off, saying someone was framing him, right?"

"Adeline, your mind is full of Jasper. You don't care about the longstanding feud between the Foster family and the Phoebe family. Jasper almost killed your own mother, and you don't even care!"

"You don't deserve to be part of the Phoebe family, nor to manage the Phoebe family's assets."

"If you had any conscience, you'd leave the Phoebe family and hand over those assets!"

Adeline narrowed her eyes, her gaze cold as she scanned the surrounding servants, finally resting on Linda standing beside her.

At this late hour, both Jasper and David showed up. It was obvious who had tipped Jasper off.

Feeling Adeline's gaze, Linda silently lowered her head.

Adeline sighed. Now wasn't the time to hold Linda accountable.

She lifted her head, her eyes icy as she glanced at Daisy, her voice equally cold, "Whether I deserve to be part of the Phoebe family or manage its assets is not for you to decide."

"As for those assets..."

Adeline smirked.

"I've already stated my conditions. Unless you meet them, no matter what you do, I won't hand them over."

She then turned to look at Jasper, her gaze falling on the blood-stained sleeve of his white shirt.

"I don't care who tipped you off. Since you're here so late, claiming you're being framed..."

"Jasper, you'd better have evidence to prove it."

"Otherwise..."

"You hurt my mother during the day, bribed my people, and now you're disturbing us at night. We'll settle all scores, and you won't leave this place unscathed!"

Adeline couldn't understand why Jasper would come so late, claiming innocence when the evidence against him was solid.

Did he think she still had feelings for him and would cover up for him, or did he think she and Oliver were easily fooled?

If Jasper had cut ties with her after this incident, Adeline might have still seen him as a man.

But coming here to play the victim within a day?

Did Jasper think that just because Brandon had once deceived her with his acting, he could too?

He was wrong.

Tonight, after seeing how Jasper treated Zara, Adeline was no longer the same Adeline who loved Jasper.

"Of course, I can provide evidence."

Jasper glanced at his watch. "But we'll have to wait ten more minutes."

Oliver and Adeline exchanged a look.

It was already 1 AM.

Wait ten more minutes for what?

"Wait for what?" Daisy sneered, "Are you hoping we'll be too tired to think straight and fall for your tricks?"

"Jasper, the evidence of you framing my mother is clear. How dare you come here claiming innocence?"

"Do you think the Phoebe family won't kill you?"

David chuckled. "The Phoebe family?"

David leaned against a pillar, a cigarette dangling from his lips, his voice indifferent.

"Are you saying you and Adeline are family?"

"I've seen how united the Phoebe family is."

He lit his cigarette and blew a smoke ring.

"What should we call that scene earlier? Infighting?"

His words made Daisy and Brandon's faces darken.

But David wasn't done.

He turned to Oliver with a faint smile. "You're their brother, right?"

"One sister almost stabbed the other in the eye with a knife, and you did nothing?"

Daisy's brow furrowed tightly.

"I didn't!"

"I was just... just..."

Seeing her struggle to come up with an excuse, Brandon gave her a cold look before smiling and pulling her into his arms.

"Daisy was just too angry. There were better ways to solve the problem, but Adeline insisted on making things difficult for us."

"She was too impulsive."

He then led Daisy to Adeline. "Daisy, apologize to Adeline."

Though Daisy wasn't one to easily bend, she could manage a small apology.

She bowed respectfully to Adeline.

"Adeline, I'm sorry."

"I was too impulsive."

She glanced at David.

"But you saw, I was already punished. Don't be mad."

Adeline looked at Daisy but said nothing.

She couldn't be bothered with her.

After a moment, Adeline turned to Jasper, her gaze cold.

"Ten minutes are up. Are you going to speak?"

"Or do you want us to keep waiting?"

Jasper checked the time again. "They're here."

As he spoke, a black sports car pulled up at the gate.

Ryan hurried out, carrying a laptop. "Mr. Foster, I got it!"

Jasper nodded. "Begin."

Ryan quickly opened the laptop and pulled out a document.

"Mr. Foster heard that Mrs. Phoebe was smeared with a corrosive ointment."

"I investigated the source and sales channels of this ointment and found something."

Ryan opened the file, calmly explaining.

"This ointment is only sold by Wenger Pharmaceutical Company worldwide."

"And Wenger Pharmaceutical Company keeps records of all sales."

"I used various methods and finally obtained their sales records."

"In the past two months, only one Mr. Q purchased this ointment."

Ryan took a deep breath, looking directly at Brandon. "After thorough investigation, we confirmed that Mr. Q is Mr. Torres."

The courtyard fell silent.

In the heavy air, Jasper smirked.

"Mr. Torres, why did the ointment you bought end up in my hands?"
