Chapter 616 Where's Daddy?
The underground warehouse was a mess, filled with dust and the stench of mold. It was pitch black, with no light at all.
Bennett, with his sharp night vision, grabbed Lauren's hand and made a beeline for a distant light source. Blake was right behind them, holding onto Lauren's other hand.
Footsteps and flashlight beams were all around them, cutting through the darkness.
"Quick, this way! We need to find them fast!" someone shouted urgently.
"How dare you hurt Molly and run off with those kids! Liam, you're in deep trouble!" another voice growled.
"Molly's your mom, why'd you betray her for two strangers? You know what happens to traitors, right?" someone else added, sounding dangerous.
"Liam, I know you can hear me! Bring those two back, and maybe Molly will let you live!"
Lauren's heart was pounding like crazy when she heard the voices behind her. Just a bit ago, she and Blake had been snatched by Molly's goons and thrown into a small room.
In that room, a guy covered in blood and grime was tied to a pillar. He looked up when he heard them. It was Sebastian, the guy who vanished with Bennett!
But this Sebastian was a wreck—dirty, miserable, and worn out.
When he saw them, he looked shocked for a second, then gave a weak smile and said in a raspy voice, "Looks like Adeline's got more work now. Hope she can handle it."
Lauren thought she and Blake were done for, but then Molly got word that some cars had followed them and were now parked at the factory's main gate.
Molly freaked out and had them moved out of Sebastian's room, worried someone would find all three of them together.
Just as Molly was locking them in another room and making threats, Bennett whipped out a hidden knife, stabbing Molly, incapacitating her just long enough to cut their ropes and lead their escape.
They'd been running forever. Lauren felt a weird warmth looking at the back of Bennett's head.
She always thought Bennett, who kidnapped her and Blake with Molly, had gone bad. But here he was, betraying Molly and helping them escape.
She bit her lip and whispered, "Liam, why don't you come with us? You've already hurt Molly; she won't let you go."
Bennett paused but didn't say anything.
After a moment, he just kept moving forward, holding Lauren's hand. "Let's get out first."
Adeline had been waiting outside, worried sick. Apart from Blake's initial message, she hadn't heard anything. She looked up and saw several cars parked at the factory's main gate, with people searching inside.
Adeline squinted and noticed the last car's door was open, and Jason was getting out. She paused, realizing this was all part of Jasper's plan. As she stared at the computer screen, she couldn't help but be amazed at how detailed Jasper's strategy was.
Molly would have guessed that Jasper would send someone to rescue them. If there wasn't any chaos on the factory floor, she would definitely suspect the drainage outlet.
But now, with people searching the front of the abandoned factory, Molly would never think that Jasper's team would sneak into the underground warehouse through the drainage outlet to save them.
After a while, someone emerged from the direction of the drainage outlet. Tim and Tom were supporting a man who was covered in blood and rags.
Adeline stared at the man for a moment, then burst into tears. She thought, 'This thin man is Sebastian! Jasper found Sebastian!'
"Ma'am." After Tim and Tom put Sebastian in the car, they sighed heavily, "When our guys found him, they ran into Molly's crew and had to fight their way out. Now Sir and Ryan are looking for Blake and the others, so we brought Sebastian out first."
Adeline bit her lip, "Jasper wasn't hurt, was he?"
"No."
Sebastian, already unconscious, was put in the car. Adeline, heartbroken, cleaned the dirt off his face while listening to the updates on the computer terminal.
After a while, two staggering figures emerged from the drainage outlet. It was Blake and Lauren!
Adeline, excited, rushed out of the car and hugged them tightly. "I'm so glad you're okay!"
Sebastian was rescued. Blake and Lauren were unharmed! Jasper had kept his promise to her!
Lauren, who had narrowly escaped death, wasn't happy. She bit her lip, tears welling up as she looked at Adeline, "Mommy."
"Bennett was captured by Molly!" Lauren sobbed.
Adeline's body stiffened. She had been so worried about Blake and Lauren that she forgot to ask why Bennett hadn't come out with them.
She bit her lip, squatted down, and hugged Lauren, comforting both Lauren and herself, "It's okay. Bennett is Molly's son now; she won't harm him."
Hearing this, Lauren cried even harder. "But Bennett hurt Molly to save us. Now that he's been captured, they won't let him go!"
The more she spoke, the more she cried, "Mommy, what should we do?"
Adeline bit her lip hard and looked down at Blake. "Is it true?"
Blake let out a deep sigh, his expression grave. "Bennett was also deceived by Molly; he didn't know she wanted him to kidnap us. So he betrayed Molly and let us go."
Blake's words made Adeline's heart sink. If what Blake and Lauren said was true, then Molly would definitely bully and punish Bennett after capturing him!
Thinking of the harm Bennett might face, Adeline felt a sharp pain in her heart. She wished she could rush in and take his place, enduring the suffering for him.
Lauren looked up and said, "Mommy, why are you alone? Where's Daddy?"
Adeline paused, glancing back at the large warehouse inside the drainage outlet, "He..."
Before she could finish, a loud explosion came from the underground warehouse.
