Chapter 866 Actually, It's Not From the Right Index Finger

The Phoebe Group couldn't possibly come up with $500 million in cash right now.

Even if they could, Oliver would never hand over that kind of money to Yosef and Briar for something like this.

Seeing Oliver's troubled expression, Yosef leaned back in his chair with a cold smile.

"Without $500 million, we won't let this go."

Before they were brought here, the PR company had made it very clear. The Phoebe Group could come up with $500 million if they wanted to.

As one of the prominent families in Oceancrest City, $500 million was nothing for the Phoebe Group's reputation.

Yosef's words made Oliver chuckle coldly.

"$500 million? I'm afraid you might get the money, but you won't live long enough to spend it!"

"Secretary, get these two out of here."

"If they come back causing trouble, record it and call the police. We'll take them to court!"

With that, he gave the middle-aged couple a cold glance.

"If you want to play, I'll play with you."

He left the VIP room with long strides.

Yosef and Briar were stunned.

Yosef stared in shock at Oliver's departing figure.

Didn't the PR company say he would give them $500 million?

Why did he just leave?

"Please, follow me."

The secretary stepped forward, speaking in a low voice.

The couple exchanged a glance and reluctantly got up to leave.

But as soon as they stepped out of the Phoebe Group's building, a car pulled up in front of them.

The window rolled down, revealing Ryan's face.

"Mr. Foster would like to see you."

Yosef frowned and quickly pulled Briar into the car.

Although they had issues with Jasper, he was still a decent boss compared to others.

At least after Giselle's death, he had done everything he could for her.

Ryan drove them to Giselle's rented apartment.

The small room was filled with Giselle's belongings, her photos and clothes hanging on the walls.

As Yosef and Briar entered, Jasper was standing by the window, looking out.

The moment Briar felt her daughter's presence, she burst into tears, collapsing to the floor.

Yosef's eyes reddened as well.

He walked up to Jasper.

"Mr. Foster, why did you bring us here? What do you want to say?"

Jasper shrugged and smiled.

He pointed to a photo of Giselle, smiling brightly on the wall.

"She was a beautiful, lovely girl."

"If I were you, I would preserve her dignity after her death, minimizing her exposure to the public."

He glanced at Ryan.

Ryan nodded and turned on the TV.

The TV, decorated with cute bunny stickers, showed the Oceancrest City news.

The screen displayed Yosef and Briar causing a scene outside the Phoebe Group building.

"According to reports, the deceased is Giselle, secretary to Jasper, CEO of the Foster Group."

"She was twenty years old, from a small town east of Oceancrest City. Reporters found her information; she graduated from college last year..."

The news showed photo after photo of Giselle.

All her information and life experiences were exposed online.

Reporters even went to her former residence and workplace to film and interview people.

Her colleagues, former teachers, classmates, even neighbors and elementary school friends were interviewed.

Yosef and Briar watched the news, listening to interviews with people who knew Giselle, feeling devastated and furious.

"How can they do this!" Briar cried out. "How can they expose our daughter's personal information online!"

No one is perfect, and Giselle was no exception. Some interviewees revealed Giselle's past mistakes. Others claimed she wanted to be a mistress.

Even the sales clerk who sold her a dress yesterday was interviewed. The flood of information overwhelmed Yosef and Briar.

Giselle was dead. But after her death, these negative stories were dug up and continuously reported.

Ryan switched through several channels, all showing Giselle's photos as the top news.

Yosef trembled with anger, barely able to stand by holding onto the door. Briar sat on the carpet, crying until her voice was hoarse.

After a while, Jasper gestured to Ryan. Ryan turned off the TV.

"This is the result of stirring up public opinion," Jasper said coldly, turning to face the elderly couple. "If you had any sense, you'd know the Foster Group came to Oceancrest City to bankrupt the Phoebe and Torres families as quickly as possible."

"Giselle was an employee of the Foster Group. If I sent Foster Group employees to cause trouble at the Phoebe Group, damaging their reputation, wouldn't that benefit the Foster Group? But I didn't do that. Not because I'm less smart than you, but because I understand the consequences."

"But you?" He narrowed his eyes, a hint of coldness in his smile. "Giselle was your daughter. You only cared about yourselves, never considering the impact on her. Seeing your daughter's information exposed everywhere after her death, are you satisfied?"

Yosef collapsed in despair. "Mr. Foster... What should we do?"

"Stop causing trouble," Jasper said, taking a deep breath. "I can help you handle this, ensuring Giselle's photos and life story are no longer public. But," he narrowed his eyes, "you need to cremate her body quickly, take her ashes back home, and give her a proper funeral. Until the real culprit is found, don't come back to Oceancrest City."

His words made Yosef and Briar exchange a glance. They hesitated for a long time before Briar spoke up.

"Mr. Foster, will you really avenge Giselle? Adeline was your... ex-wife. We're afraid..."

"Don't worry. If Adeline really killed Giselle, I won't let Giselle die in vain."

The couple remained silent for a long time. Finally, Briar stood up, crying as she packed Giselle's belongings, nodding. "Alright, we'll do as Mr. Foster says."

After helping them pack Giselle's things, Jasper left. When he returned to his car, Ryan's phone rang. A moment later, he hung up.

"We found out. Randy from the Torres family lost his right index finger last night."

"Got it," Jasper said, narrowing his eyes, a cold smile forming.

Ryan frowned. "But sir, the weapon only has one fingerprint, and now Randy's finger is gone. We have no evidence to prove he's the killer."

Jasper smirked coldly. "The fingerprint on the weapon isn't from the right index finger."
