Chapter 692 They Want to Capture You Back

When Adeline heard the man mention Stella, she froze.

After a moment, it all clicked.

Earlier, when this guy had shown her an old photo of herself and asked about it, she didn't want to talk to a stranger, so she said she didn't know.

So he had traced it back to Stella?

That made sense.

Her face had been surgically altered by Brandon over six years ago.

Now, with this guy investigating using her old photo, the only recent information he could find would be related to Stella.

Adeline smirked "How Stella died and whether it has anything to do with me, I don't think I need to tell you."

Her indifferent attitude made Oliver narrow his eyes slightly.

He stared coldly at Adeline's face, a frosty smile on his lips.

"I just wanted to remind you. If Stella's death is indeed related to you."

Oliver's eyes turned icy as he said, "Your days ahead will be very difficult."

With that, he got into his car and slammed the door shut.

Watching the black Cayenne drive away, Mia glared angrily in the direction the car had gone.

"Adeline, why did you stop me? He deserves a beating!"

Adeline squinted. "He dislocated both of Daphne's arms so easily. Are you sure the two of us can take him?"

Mia instantly deflated.

She pouted, reluctantly getting back into her car. As she started the engine, she turned to Adeline.

"What did he mean by that? Is he trying to avenge Stella? But didn't Stella jump to her death? How could it have anything to do with you?"

Adeline rubbed her aching temples and shook her head helplessly.

"I don't know what he meant either."

She had heard many threats from strangers.

But for some reason, this time, she felt an inexplicable sense of unease.

It seemed something unpredictable was really about to happen.

Three days later, Bennett's memory recovery treatment officially began.

Fearing that the sight of Bennett undergoing electroshock therapy would be too distressing for Lauren and Blake, Jasper had kept them at home early in the morning.

Accompanying Bennett for the treatment were only Jasper, Adeline, and Sebastian.

Mia had originally planned to come too, but she had heard some news and had left Radiance Springs overnight for Oceancrest City.

Before she left, she messaged Adeline: [I heard my child is connected to the Phoebe family in Oceancrest City. I need to go find out!]

Adeline replied helplessly: [You could wait a few days. I lived in Oceancrest City for six years. I might be able to help.]

[No need! If you go back to Oceancrest City, you'll have to face the Torres family. You still haven't figured out how to break off the engagement with them, right? I can go by myself. Besides, you lived in Oceancrest City for six years without any interaction with the Phoebe family. You might not be able to help me.]

Adeline looked at Mia's message, feeling a mix of amusement and exasperation.

That was right.

She had lived in Oceancrest City for six years without any interaction with the Phoebe family.

If it weren't for Molly's return, she might still not know what the Phoebe family was involved in.

Thinking of this, she couldn't help but recall the message Alice had sent to Brandon.

Brandon's close ties with the Phoebe family she had only just found out about them.

Soon, Bennett's treatment was over.

The process was painful, but Bennett gritted his teeth and endured it.

After the treatment, Bennett came out of the treatment room, tears streaming down his face as he hugged Adeline.

"Mommy, I remember everything!"

Bennett, who hadn't shed a tear during the painful electroshock therapy, now cried pitifully in Adeline's arms.

"Lauren was right. I used to be so naggy!"

He hugged Adeline and cried for a long time before letting go and turning to hug Sebastian.

"Mr. Carter..."

He had always thought Sebastian was just a staff member at Molly's house.

But after regaining his memory, he realized Sebastian was a brilliant artist.

Back then, it was Sebastian who had shielded him with his body, allowing him to survive.

He hugged Sebastian and cried for a long time.

Without Sebastian, he wouldn't be here today.

Seeing Bennett crying so pitifully in his arms, Sebastian couldn't help but smile.

He squatted down and gently wiped away Bennett's tears.

"My last concern in Radiance Springs was you. Now that you've regained your memory, I'm very happy."

He hugged Bennett lightly.

"But I'm leaving soon. My parents are waiting for me at the airport."

Bennett's eyes widened as tears silently fell. "Mr. Carter, you're... leaving already?"

Sebastian chuckled, ruffling Bennett's hair.

"Yes. You used to help Molly, even hurting your biological father, just so I could live and reunite with my family. Now I'm finally going back to my parents. You should be happy, right?"

Though reluctant, Bennett nodded heavily. He took a pen and wrote his phone number on Sebastian's hand.

"Mr. Carter, remember to keep in touch. When I grow up, I'll come visit you."

Sebastian chuckled and nodded.

After giving Bennett a few more instructions, Sebastian stood up and looked at Adeline.

"Let's go."

Adeline nodded, turning to leave with Sebastian.

Bennett stood there, watching Adeline and Sebastian's departing figures, then turned to Jasper with confusion.

"Daddy, aren't you going to see Mr. Carter off?"

Jasper chuckled, picking Bennett up and walking in the opposite direction.

"Sebastian saved you. As your father, I should see him off personally. But... you know Sebastian likes your mommy, right?"

Bennett nodded. "Therefore, let Mommy see him off and give him one last chance to spend time with her."

Bennett was stunned, then slowly nodded in understanding.

"Daddy, you've grown up."

Jasper asked, "What?"

Bennett added, "You used to get so angry seeing Mommy with Mr. Carter. Now you're not only not angry, but supportive. You've grown up."

Jasper chuckled, carrying Bennett downstairs and heading home.

Radiance Springs Airport.

Adeline saw Sebastian and his family through security. Only after their plane took off did she take a deep breath and leave the airport.

She got into the back seat of her car, closed her eyes in exhaustion, and told the driver.

"Take me home."

The car started. Adeline had just closed her eyes to rest when her phone rang.

It was Brandon.

After a moment's hesitation, Adeline took a deep breath and answered.

Brandon's voice was urgent. "Run! They're coming to take you back!"
