Chapter 843 You Made the Headlines!
Adeline's words left Giselle speechless, unsure of how to respond.
Adeline didn't bother to continue the conversation.
"I'm looking for Jasper. Give him the phone."
"I've recorded everything you just said. If you don't want me to play it for Jasper right now, stop wasting my time."
Giselle bit her lip and took the phone to the balcony.
Jasper was in the middle of a video conference.
When Giselle handed him the phone, he frowned, "You're still here?"
Giselle stammered, unable to speak, and simply handed the phone to Jasper.
Meanwhile, the executives on the computer continued their diligent report.
"After thorough investigation, we've determined that the Banks Family is the most crucial link in the Torres Group and Phoebe Group supply chain."
"According to our plan, we'll take down the Banks Family around 5 PM tomorrow."
"Once the news of the supply chain disruption spreads, we estimate that by 7 PM, both the Phoebe Group and Torres Group will be in chaos."
Jasper listened to the report absentmindedly while taking the phone, "Hello?"
Adeline heard every word of the meeting on the other end.
Tomorrow at 5 PM was when guests would start arriving for Brandon and Daisy's wedding.
7 PM was the official start time of the wedding.
Jasper's timing was impeccable.
"Adeline?"
Seeing that Adeline hadn't spoken, Jasper frowned slightly and spoke softly.
Adeline quickly snapped back to reality.
She took a deep breath, "Brandon threw me out of the car."
Jasper raised an eyebrow, "It's rare for him to be so ungentlemanly."
In fact, Jasper already knew about Adeline being thrown out by Brandon.
Although he hadn't arranged for a car to follow Adeline, he had a hacker son who could access the city's surveillance system.
From the moment Adeline got into Brandon's car, Blake had been streaming the surveillance footage to Jasper.
Now, Adeline's surveillance video was still on his computer screen, occupying most of the space.
The company executives' report only took up a small portion.
He watched the woman leisurely walking down the street on the surveillance video.
"Do you need me to arrange for someone to pick you up and take you home?"
Adeline shook her head, "No need, I can contact Linda later."
"Every interaction with you these past few days has been photographed. If your people send me home again, it'll just provide more material."
Jasper chuckled, "The person I arrange won't become material."
"And he's been having trouble sleeping. Sending you home and seeing someone he wants to see will make him happy."
With Jasper's explanation, Adeline understood.
He wanted David to send her home.
She shrugged, "Then I'll trouble David."
After Jasper agreed, he continued listening to the report while typing a message to David.
Once everything was arranged, Jasper leaned back in his chair comfortably and glanced at Giselle, who was still making coffee for him, with a slight frown.
"You didn't agree to any of Brandon's demands, did you?"
Adeline shook her head, remembering the reason she called him.
"How did you know Brandon would make demands?"
Jasper squinted, "The people he sent to take photos weren't exactly subtle."
"He took pictures of us and found out Zara was sent away today. He's probably trying to blackmail you."
Adeline pursed her lips, confirming her suspicions.
Jasper knew everything.
She felt a bit guilty, "Do you know what he's trying to make me do?"
Jasper was silent for a moment. He wasn't entirely sure.
But he suspected it was to make her give up the Phoebe family's inheritance rights.
Seeing his silence, Adeline realized Jasper didn't know.
She pouted, "Then why did you message me, telling me not to agree?"
Jasper paused, then laughed, "I believe Howard isn't dumb enough to judge you based on videos and photos alone."
He had already arranged for Ryan to meet with Howard.
If Adeline couldn't explain, he would do it himself.
His words made Adeline sigh.
"Jasper, have you ever thought about this?"
"If one day, I become your opponent?"
"You? No way."
Jasper laughed on the other end of the phone, "You're just a jewelry designer, not interested in business."
"The Phoebe family won't hand over the Phoebe Group to you. Even if they did, you wouldn't take it."
This was his judgment based on his past understanding of her.
Adeline gripped the phone.
He wasn't wrong.
He didn't know she held a significant portion of the Phoebe family's assets.
In the past, she wouldn't and didn't want to get involved in the group's disputes.
But things were different now.
Adeline wanted to say something to Jasper but couldn't find the words.
At that moment, a car horn sounded behind her.
David had arrived.
Adeline quickly hung up the phone and got into David's car.
From downtown to the small courtyard, Adeline and David remained silent, each lost in their thoughts.
When the car arrived at the courtyard, Linda was the first to rush out, throwing herself in front of Adeline, "You're finally back!"
"Look at you, going out in your pajamas, you worried me sick!"
"You..."
Before she could finish, the car door behind Adeline opened.
David, tall and slender, stepped out of the car.
Linda's face instantly darkened upon seeing David.
She frowned and lowered her voice, "Why did you come back with him?"
"Got lost, he kindly offered to drive me."
Adeline forced a bright smile at Linda, then released her and headed towards the main house, "You two talk, I'm exhausted and need to rest."
Watching Adeline's retreating figure, Linda frowned deeply. She took a few steps towards the main house before her wrist was grabbed tightly.
David pulled her into his arms, "Still mad?"
Linda bit her lip and glared at him, "Let go of me!"
"Never."
From a distance, Adeline heard their conversation and couldn't help but smile.
She and Jasper were no longer possible.
She could only hope Linda and David would be okay.
With that thought, she returned to her room and slept fitfully through the night.
The next morning, Adeline was awakened by Sebastian's knocking.
"Adeline, grab your phone, get online!"
"You made the headlines!"
