Chapter 307 If Someone's Framing, It's You Framing Her
Adeline frowned but knew better than to argue with Jasper about Bennett and Lauren.
She glanced at Anne, keeping her face neutral. "Why don't you three go ahead? I need to talk to Mr. Foster."
"Sure," Anne said, leading Timothy and Robert away.
As they walked off, Brian couldn't help but ask, "Who are Bennett and Lauren?
Anne whispered, "They're Mr. Foster's kids, twins—a boy and a girl."
"And what's their deal with Adeline?"
Their voices faded as they moved down the hall.
Once they were out of sight, Adeline sighed and shut the office door.
"Alright, Mr. Foster. You have my attention."
Jasper smiled faintly, settling into her chair. His look was cool, with a hint of mockery. "I'm impressed. Your charm made Sebastian risk his relationship with his parents."
Adeline's brow furrowed. She leaned against the door, clearly annoyed. "Didn't you want to talk about Bennett and Lauren, Mr. Foster?"
He glanced down, flipping through the design drafts on her desk. "Aren't you curious about Sebastian?"
"What about him?" Adeline scoffed. "You just used fancy words to defend your wife. Did you think I wouldn't catch on?"
Jasper set the drafts down, his gaze sweeping over her face. "So, you still think Stella's behind those rumors?"
"Who else?" Adeline's voice was icy. "Mrs. Carter's new in Radiance Springs. She knows nothing about the Foster Group."
"She probably couldn't even name our security guards."
"And yet, she named Tim and Tom. Who do you think told her?"
Jasper's eyes narrowed. He knew Stella was involved, but something still bugged him.
"Adeline, why does Stella hate you so much?"
Adeline laughed without humor. "Do I really need to explain, Mr. Foster?"
"I..."
"Adeline," Jasper's voice was soft but firm. "During your call with Mr. Fisher, he said the call to those thugs came from a Neon City number, right?"
Adeline paused, then nodded slowly. "Yes."
He leaned forward, his blue eyes intense. "Do you know who made that call?"
Adeline frowned, shaking her head. She was curious but lacked the resources to find out. She was waiting for the police report.
"Do you know, Mr. Foster?"
"It was Morgana."
Jasper held her gaze, his expression unreadable, as if trying to see through her.
Adeline had secrets, and his scrutiny made her uncomfortable. She looked away. "Morgana?"
"The same Morgana who was kicked out of the Quinn family in Neon City?"
So that was it. Stella had found a new backer, a new source of power, letting her act with such impunity.
"You've got a good memory," Jasper said with a cold smile. "Remember what I told you about Evelyn?"
"The Evelyn who supposedly died in Neon City? She was an imposter. The real Evelyn is still out there."
Adeline's heart skipped a beat.
Jasper leaned back, his blue eyes fixed on her. "Evelyn was obsessed with plastic surgery. Who knows what she looks like now?"
"But one thing's for sure. If she changed her appearance, she wouldn't be using her real name or documents."
Adeline nodded slowly. "Makes sense."
But Evelyn didn't just create a new identity. She took over someone else's life.
Jasper said indifferently, "Adeline, Jason's investigation revealed your entire identity is fabricated."
Adeline froze.
She stared at him, her mind racing. She had considered Jasper might uncover her past, but never that he would suspect her of being Evelyn!
"What are you saying?" she whispered.
"Are you suggesting I'm Evelyn?"
Jasper didn't answer directly. "I just want to know who you really are."
Adeline took a deep breath, her nails digging into her palms. She had anticipated this day, but not like this.
"Mr. Foster, you can't be serious." She forced a laugh, but it sounded brittle. "You saw how the Quinn family treated me in Neon City."
"If I were Evelyn, why would I let you send Morris to prison? Why would I let Gabriel torment Linda?"
"Gabriel's men almost destroyed me! Have you forgotten?"
Jasper's gaze narrowed. Those were the reasons why he had dismissed Jason's suspicions.
But the coincidences were piling up.
Morgana's remaining forces were in Radiance Springs, secretly helping Adeline.
If she wasn't Evelyn, then who was she? Where was the real Evelyn?
And why was Adeline at odds with the Quinn family? If she wasn't Evelyn, then Evelyn should be targeting her, not aiding her.
His distrust was clear, and it chipped away at Adeline's composure.
"So, Mr. Foster," she said, her voice tight. "If I were Evelyn, your wife's animosity towards me would make sense, wouldn't it?"
Jasper's eyes narrowed. "Yes."
Adeline laughed, a bitter, humorless sound.
"Fine. I get it." She glared at him, her eyes blazing with anger and hurt. "You'd rather turn me into the villain, into the person you despise most, than accept that your precious wife might be capable of such malice."
"My suspicions aren't baseless, Adeline."
"But they are." Adeline's voice rose. "In those chat logs Ava released, the person claiming to be me was using 'Stella' as their WhatsApp nickname!"
"Should I start spreading rumors that your wife was deliberately trying to frame me?"
Jasper frowned. "If anyone's framing, it's you framing her. Stella isn't stupid enough to use her own name and risk exposing herself."
