Chapter 568 Did you get the hospital surveillance footage?
Lauren's words made Jasper go quiet real quick.
After a beat, he looked at her seriously. "You really want Dad to keep Mom around?"
Lauren pouted. "Duh!"
She sniffled. "Even though Dad's done some pretty bad stuff, Blake told me he thinks Dad and Mom still love each other deep down."
"Dad almost fell off a cliff trying to save Blake and Mom," she added.
"And to keep Dad from falling, Mom held onto your hand so tight she passed out from exhaustion."
Lauren lifted her head, her bright eyes locked on Jasper.
"Isn't this just like a fairy tale where the prince and princess love each other?"
Her serious look made Jasper chuckle. He made a firm decision, raising his hand to pinch her cheek.
"Alright, I'll do my best, okay?"
Lauren's eyes lit up instantly. "Really?"
Jasper nodded, his gaze steady.
Lauren jumped off the bed, her excitement bubbling over. "That's awesome!"
Her excited voice reached Adeline's ears outside. She had just finished making breakfast for four and was setting it on the table.
Hearing Lauren's voice, she knew Lauren and Jasper must be awake.
Adeline walked over and gently knocked on the door. "Lauren?"
Inside, Lauren instantly quieted down at the sound of Adeline's voice.
She looked up and exchanged a glance with Jasper, who made a shushing gesture.
Lauren nodded. Jasper stood up and opened the door.
Outside, Adeline stood there in an apron, smiling at Lauren.
"What's got you so happy this early?"
Lauren, pretending to be super excited, ran to Adeline and grabbed her hand with her tiny one.
"Dad said he's taking me and Blake to the amusement park soon! I've never been to the amusement park with Blake!"
Seeing her excited face, Adeline sighed and gently rubbed her head. "Don't make such a fuss."
She pointed to the breakfast on the table. "Go upstairs, find Blake, wash up together, then come down to eat."
"Okay!"
Seeing that Adeline didn't suspect anything, Lauren excitedly ran upstairs.
Just as she stepped on the first stair, she turned to look at Jasper, making a fist and giving an encouraging gesture.
"Dad, do your best!"
Adeline furrowed her brows and turned to look at Jasper, puzzled.
"What's that about?"
"Nothing."
He cleared his throat and glanced at the dining table, where a delicious breakfast was still steaming, set for four.
Jasper squinted slightly and then looked at Adeline. "I thought you would kick me out as soon as I woke up."
Adeline cleared her throat and turned her face away. "Since you are staying here, you're my guest. How could I let a guest leave without even having breakfast?"
He responded casually, "Yeah, that's true."
He walked over and took a seat at the dining table.
"Haven't had a proper breakfast in ages."
Adeline smiled awkwardly and joined him.
"Then you should eat up."
"Is there something you need my help with?" Jasper asked, not missing a beat while eating. He knew her too well.
She was cold and mocking last night, but now she's all warm and attentive. If she didn't need something, it'd be a miracle.
Seeing her thoughts laid bare, Adeline sat down across from him. No point in hiding it.
"Yeah, there is. I want to meet the bodyguards who were watching Luna the day she was released."
She continued, "And I want to check the hospital's surveillance footage from that day."
The bodyguards that day were all Jasper's men, and he could easily get the hospital's surveillance footage.
Adeline had decided to investigate whether it was Bennett who helped Luna escape that day.
That's why she got up early to make breakfast specifically for Jasper.
Jasper nodded lightly while eating.
"I'll go with you."
The incident of Luna escaping that day was indeed fishy.
Since Stella's people had infiltrated his bodyguards before, he had replaced almost all of them. Each one was strictly screened by Ryan.
Normally, the bodyguards wouldn't lie. But that day, Blake was indeed in Lillehammer.
So, either the bodyguards lied, or there really was a kid who looked exactly like Blake. It was most likely Bennett.
"I can handle it myself."
Adeline quickly waved her hand to refuse. "You are so busy every day, you shouldn't put aside your business to do such trivial things with me."
"Investigating whether someone is impersonating my son is a trivial matter?"
Jasper raised an eyebrow, his gaze cool as he looked at Adeline.
Adeline said nothing.
After a moment, Jasper picked up his phone to make a call.
After hanging up, Jasper looked up and said to Adeline, "By the time you're done with breakfast, you should have what you need."
Adeline took a deep breath and silently picked up her fork. She really didn't want Jasper to know about that day.
She was afraid that if the surveillance footage showed it was indeed Bennett impersonating Blake, Jasper would lose it.
He didn't know Bennett had lost his memory or that Bennett was now with Molly.
If he saw it, he'd probably start a city-wide sweep for Molly in anger.
It would alert the enemy, and she'd have an even harder time to locate Bennett.
While she was lost in thought, Jasper's phone rang. He furrowed his brows and answered, "Did you get the hospital's surveillance footage?"
