Chapter 831 What Did You Say?

Adeline glanced at the man sprawled on the sofa, oozing lazy arrogance like a peacock:

"Got a new girlfriend?"

Jasper shrugged, "You tell me."

Adeline didn't care enough to guess.

Even though they had slept together just last night, she knew there was no future between them.

Why should it matter to her if he had a new girlfriend?

So Adeline kept her frown and asked, "Want me to leave?"

Jasper stayed indifferent, leaning back on the sofa, "What do you think?"

Adeline rolled her eyes. She didn't really want to leave.

First, she didn't want to stay at Jasper's place any longer.

Second, if she left, she would inevitably hear their conversation, and she had no interest in listening to Jasper and his new girlfriend chat.

With that thought, Adeline took a deep breath, walked over, and opened the door.

Outside, a woman with perfect makeup was knocking on the door and calling out to Jasper:

"Mr. Foster, are you up?"

"You called me earlier to bring you breakfast..."

Before she could finish, the door swung open.

Giselle's hand froze mid-knock. She adjusted her breath and smiled, "Mr. Foster, you..."

To her surprise, it wasn't Jasper standing at the door, but a beautiful woman.

The woman wore a cream-colored long dress with a black belt at the waist, her hair flowing freely, exuding an elegant and refined aura.

As Giselle stared at Adeline, Adeline was also sizing her up.

Giselle stood at the door holding a takeout breakfast, her makeup flawless, her outfit meticulously chosen, clearly dressed to impress.

She was quite pretty.

Adeline suppressed the bitterness in her heart, casually flicked her hair, and chuckled, "Looks like Jasper's taste has improved."

Giselle's makeup, clothes, and accessories were much better than those of his previous girlfriends.

With that thought, Adeline patted Giselle's shoulder, "Good luck, try to stay with him for a while."

Then she turned and walked away.

Giselle stood there, holding the breakfast, staring blankly at Adeline's departing figure.

What was she talking about?

And why did she look familiar?

As Giselle was lost in thought, Jasper's deep voice came from inside:

"Why are you so slow?"

Giselle snapped out of it and hurried inside with the breakfast. "Sorry, Mr. Foster, there was traffic. I hope I didn't delay your breakfast."

Before she could finish, she saw the remnants of a two-person breakfast on the table.

Jasper shifted to a more elegant position on the sofa. "You're an hour late."

Giselle bit her lip, glancing at the breakfast in her hand, "What about this?"

"Take it back and eat it yourself."

Giselle bit her lip, standing there awkwardly.

When she received Jasper's call this morning asking her to bring breakfast, she had jumped out of bed in excitement.

Mr. Foster had asked her to bring breakfast for two, surely he wanted to have breakfast with her!

Giselle thought her efforts over the past six months to become Jasper's secretary had finally paid off.

So she spent nearly an hour at home picking out clothes and doing her makeup.

She even thought that since Jasper had asked her to have breakfast, being a little late wouldn't matter.

But she hadn't expected that when she arrived, another woman would come out of Jasper's villa.

Jasper was cold to her, even telling her to eat the breakfast herself.

Even a fool would know she had misunderstood.

But Giselle didn't want to give up this opportunity.

She took a deep breath, steeling herself against Jasper's imposing presence, "But Mr. Foster, you asked for breakfast for two, it's too much for me to eat alone. Could you..."

"You can share it with a friend or throw it away."

Jasper picked up the newspaper from the table, reading it indifferently, "Take the trash with you when you leave."

Giselle's fingers twisted the string of the breakfast bag tightly. "I'll be going then."

"Mr. Foster, have a good rest."

She reluctantly glanced at Jasper again.

He was sitting elegantly, reading the newspaper, every angle of him making her heart race.

But despite being his secretary for six months, she hadn't had a chance to get close to him.

Giselle left the villa, full of unwillingness.

Hearing the villa door close softly, Jasper put down the newspaper and picked up his phone:

"Transfer Giselle to another position."

Ryan, on the other end of the line, hesitated, "Sir, why?"

"Giselle has been your longest-serving secretary in the past six months. She's gentle, considerate, and smart."

Jasper narrowed his eyes, his voice cold, "She made Adeline jealous."

Ryan fell silent.

After a moment, he coughed lightly, "I suggest not transferring Giselle. If madam is jealous, it means she still cares about you. Maybe Giselle's presence will bring her back to you sooner."

Jasper sneered, "Do you think, after everything Adeline and I have been through, I need another woman to confirm my place in Adeline's heart?"

"I've decided on Adeline for life. There's plenty of time, and I'll find a way to bring her back without resorting to such tactics."

Ryan sighed, "Alright, I'll take care of it."

Leaving Jasper's villa, Adeline realized her phone had fallen during the kidnapping last night.

Her clothes were new, and she had no cash.

She flagged down several taxis, but the drivers either refused because the villa was too far or because she had no money.

After the eighth taxi refused her, Adeline took a deep breath and glanced back at Jasper's villa.

Should she ask Jasper for money?

But his new girlfriend had just gone in, and it didn't seem appropriate to go back.

As Adeline was pondering what to do, she saw Jasper's new girlfriend storming out of the villa.

She angrily threw the breakfast bag into the trash and walked towards Adeline.

Adeline frowned, watching the woman's angry demeanor, feeling a bit guilty.

Did they argue because of her?

She hadn't meant to cause trouble.

As Adeline was thinking this, Giselle suddenly looked up.

The two women locked eyes.

Adeline gave her an apologetic smile and turned to flag another taxi.

Giselle sneered and walked over, crossing her arms, "With Mr. Foster's wealth, after last night, he should have given you a car. Why are you still here trying to catch a cab?"

"Didn't you serve Mr. Foster well last night?"

"That's odd, with your looks, you should be expensive."

Her words made Adeline's brows furrow tightly.

She looked up, her eyes cold, "What did you say?"
