Chapter 863 Do Me a Favor

Ryan was baffled by what Jasper had said.

All day, whether it was Giselle's parents, Oliver, or even the police, Jasper had been insisting that if Adeline didn't want to go back to Radiance Springs with him, she'd have to stay locked up at the police station.

She wouldn't be allowed out, wouldn't have any freedom, until the Phoebe family and the Torres family were completely ruined.

But now, Jasper was saying he wouldn't keep Adeline locked up for his own sake?

Jasper noticed Ryan's confused expression and narrowed his eyes, his voice cold and detached.

"Adeline is just one of the suspects in Giselle's death."

"The security guards said they saw Giselle holding Adeline before she died, choking her and asking why she wanted to kill her. Adeline didn't fight back but kept struggling."

"And with the fingerprint on the weapon, many people know there's another suspect who hasn't been found."

He looked ahead and smirked.

"If you were the killer, what would you do after Adeline was arrested?"

Ryan was silent for a moment, then it hit him.

"If I were the killer, I'd keep a close eye on the investigation."

"If the police and the victim's family pinned it on Adeline, I'd act like nothing happened."

"If they started looking for me, I'd get out of Oceancrest City fast!"

Jasper finally smiled at Ryan's realization.

"At least you got some sense."

Ryan scratched his head, feeling a bit embarrassed by Jasper's praise. "So, you were worried the real killer would skip town, which is why you kept saying Adeline should stay locked up."

Jasper nodded coolly.

"I've already had Blake compile a list of all the guests who were at the party last night."

"Send people to watch all the male guests and see if anyone's recently sought treatment for an injury to their right index finger."

Ryan was taken aback for a moment, then quickly nodded.

"Got it."

After giving these instructions, Jasper rubbed his aching temples and lazily leaned back in the car's rear seat.

"What about Giselle's parents?"

Ryan frowned and shook his head.

"After you visited madam, they signed the paperwork to claim the body and left, heartbroken."

"I asked where they were going, and they said they had relatives and friends in Oceancrest City to discuss Giselle's cremation."

Ryan couldn't help but shake his head again.

"Giselle's death is really tragic."

Jasper closed his eyes and responded, "Yeah, it is."

"I really suspect you had Giselle killed just to get me locked up."

Adeline's cold words from the visiting room echoed in his ears.

Jasper smirked bitterly.

He wanted to tell her that if he wanted to imprison her, he had countless ways to do it.

With his current influence in Oceancrest City and David's power in the gang, if he wanted to keep Adeline by his side, even the combined forces of the Phoebe family and the Torres family wouldn't be able to rescue her.

But he respected her, cared for her, and never even considered doing such a thing.

Yet now, she thought of him this way.

How lowly did she think of him?

"Sir."

Ryan seemed to catch on to Jasper's thoughts and looked at him through the rearview mirror.

"Madam seems to have a deep misunderstanding of you."

"Should I go see her and explain everything?"

"If madam knew your true intentions, she would surely..."

"No need."

Jasper cut Ryan off, his voice cold as ice.

"There are Torres family members in the police station."

If Ryan revealed the truth, even if the visiting room wasn't bugged, Adeline's change in attitude towards him would raise suspicions.

Seeing Jasper's silent demeanor, Ryan sighed and said nothing.

Soon, the car arrived at the Foster Group.

Jasper and Ryan had just stepped off the elevator when they saw Sebastian and Linda waiting outside the CEO's office.

As soon as Linda saw Jasper, she rushed forward, glaring at him angrily.

"I heard it was your idea to have Giselle's parents insist the police detain Adeline, is that true?"

She stared at Jasper, her teeth grinding.

"Do you not know what kind of person Adeline is? Do you really think she would kill someone?"

"How could you do this to her!"

Jasper glanced at Linda indifferently, a smile playing on his lips.

"Talking about trust and character now?"

"When Adeline's mother was injured, Adeline didn't trust me or my character."

"If you hadn't notified David and me that day, I would have been falsely accused of harming Zara."

"Back then, Adeline didn't trust me, and you didn't think she was wrong."

"Now I don't trust Adeline, and you think I'm wrong?"

"I know you're Adeline's friend, but you don't have to be so hypocritical."

With that, he walked past Linda as if she were air and headed towards his office.

Linda clenched her fists, biting her lip, unable to say a word.

Sebastian stepped forward and gently patted Linda's shoulder.

"I'll talk to him."

He then followed Jasper into the office.

Once the door was closed, Sebastian smiled and sat in the chair opposite Jasper.

"How is Adeline doing inside?"

"You've probably arranged for her protection, right?"

He smiled warmly.

"I don't want a repeat of the Radiance Springs psychiatric hospital incident."

"Adeline only has nine fingers left."

Jasper narrowed his eyes and coldly glanced at Sebastian, smiling.

"Why don't you blame me?"

"Because I understand you."

Sebastian took a deep breath, adjusted his position in the chair, and smiled faintly.

"When I visited Clio, she said she had met you and called you a weirdo."

"Despite being busy, you spent a whole week outside Clio's house just to convince her to come to Oceancrest City and save a woman who is a sworn enemy of your family."

"These things, Adeline and the Phoebe family probably don't know."

"You were willing to beg Clio to save your enemy for Adeline's sake. How could you not trust her or frame her?"

Sebastian's words left Jasper silent.

He hadn't expected that at this moment, the person who understood him best was this man who could be considered his rival.

Thinking about it, Jasper smiled bitterly.

He looked up and fixed his gaze on Sebastian.

"Do me a favor."
