Chapter 235 Long Time No See, Mr. Foster

The air in the car quieted down.

Adeline's body stiffened.

It had been a long time since she had seen Lauren and Bennett.

Since she had given birth to the children six years ago, she had never been away from Bennett and Lauren for so long.

Adeline missed them a lot.

From Bennett's phone calls yesterday afternoon and this morning, she could sense that the children also missed her terribly.

Stella's comments plunged Adeline's heart into a cold abyss despite her excitement to see her children again.

Stella did it on purpose.

She had no genuine affection for Bennett and Lauren.

Stella was only trying to disgust Adeline and the children.

"Jasper?"

Seeing Jasper silent, Stella called out to him softly.

Jasper finally came to his senses.

He cleared his throat lightly and glanced at Adeline's back in the passenger seat. "Let's do as Stella says."

Stella was the children's biological mother, after all.

Even though they hadn't lived together for six years, blood was still thicker than water.

Moreover, Stella and the children had always had a bad relationship. Now that she rarely took the initiative to reunite with the children, he had no reason to refuse.

Adeline's fists clenched tightly at her sides, her nails digging into her palms.

Biting her lip, she clung to the hope of spending more time with her children. "Evenings. Can we do it in the evenings?"

"I miss them too. Can I have an afternoon at least?"

Adeline yearned to hold her Bennett and Lauren close.

She wanted to cook them a delicious meal and spend an afternoon with them.

It was a mother's humblest wish.

However, Stella was determined not to give her this opportunity.

Stella retorted, "But I miss the babies."

To get Jasper's approval, Stella used the endearing term 'babies' to describe Bennett and Lauren.

Stella continued, "Jasper, don't you miss them?"

Jasper hesitated for a moment.

Of course, Jasper missed them.

Before going to Victoria Hollow City, he arranged for Alice to stay at Adeline's Willowcrest Terrace to take care of the two little ones and occasionally send him some photos.

His phone was filled with the photos Alice had sent him these days.

These were his treasures.

If Jasper had cherished the photos of the two adorable kids so much, he would have treasured the children themselves even more.

Jasper furrowed his brows. "Here's the deal."

"Stella and I are the biological parents of the children. Meanwhile, Adeline is the foster mother. Everyone has feelings for the children and the time apart has been too long for everyone to let go."

He added, "Let's do this. Adeline, you go upstairs to bring them down, and then you can come with us to Blue Bay."

Jasper's words surprised both Adeline and Stella.

"No."

"Not good."

Adeline and Stella spoke in unison.

The car fell into a dead silence once again.

Stella glanced at her phone and finally spoke with a light laugh, "Let's do as Jasper says."

She continued, "We are all family. We shouldn't spoil the atmosphere over such a small matter, right?"

Adeline bit her lip tightly.

She wanted to refuse.

But in the eyes of outsiders, she was just Bennett and Lauren's foster mother.

In this matter, she had no say.

Taking a deep breath, Adeline closed her eyes despondently. "Let's do it this way."

"Adeline is truly kind," Stella said, leaning against Jasper with a smug smile.

On her phone was a message from a Blue Bay servant.

[Nathan and Lily are already waiting at home.]

Soon, the car arrived at Willowcrest Terrace.

Adeline got out of the car with a heavy heart and went upstairs.

"Welcome home, Mommy!"

"Mommy, Lauren misses you so much!"

When Adeline opened the door with the keys, two tiny figures rushed out like a whirlwind.

Bennett and Lauren each hugged one of Adeline's legs, chattering excitedly.

"Mommy, I knew you would return now, but Bennett insisted on waiting a little longer!"

"When you were away, I asked Alice to teach me how to make a coffee! I made your favorite latte!"

"Mommy, I decided you cannot go anywhere this afternoon. Stay home and tell me stories while you build blocks with Bennett."

"Mommy ..."

Adeline choked on her words as she glanced at the two kids before her.

Alice stood in the living room, smiling at Adeline. "Mrs. Wilson, they especially took a day off from kindergarten today to wait for you."

Alice added, "They've been so excited since this morning. They've decorated the house like a festival."

"You can tell they miss you."

Only then did Adeline notice the decorations in the living room.

Various colored paper strips were stuck on the snow-white walls, all with crooked words expressing their longing for her.

In the center of the wall were several prominent characters made of flowers. "Welcome back, Mommy!"

Adeline's heart felt scalded by something warm and painful as she looked around at the festive atmosphere in the room.

Adeline held back the tears of excitement and knelt. "Bennett, Lauren."

"Jasper's car is still downstairs."

Bennett's face suddenly changed.

Lauren tilted her head in confusion and looked at Adeline. "What is Daddy doing downstairs?"

"He's waiting for us downstairs." Adeline reached out gently and ruffled the little girl's head. "He misses you, too."

"And ... Stella."

"She also wants to see you."

"Let's go downstairs and follow them back to Blue Bay. Okay?"

Lauren's smile instantly vanished.

She shook her head desperately. "No!"

"Stella is mean!"

Lauren added, "I don't like her at all! I don't want to go back!"

Adeline closed her eyes in heartache.

How could Adeline not hope for Lauren and Bennett to go back?

She wanted to leave Radiance Springs now with Bennett and Lauren if possible. Then, we went abroad to find Blake and have a happy family together.

But.

She bit her lip, silently holding Lauren's hand. "Be good."

Lauren's eyes filled with tears of grievance, "But ..."

"No buts."

Bennett sighed. "Mommy wouldn't agree if she had a choice."

"Let's go."

Bennett added, "Mr. Foster and Mrs. Collins aren't that bad."

After speaking, Bennett took Lauren's hand. "Alice, help us bring our coats and backpacks."

Alice hesitated momentarily, nodded quickly, and hurried back to pack the children's things.

"Mommy, remember. You owe us one."

Bennett wore his coat. "We were supposed to spend quality time with you today."

"You have to make it up to us!"

Adeline nodded firmly. "Okay!"

Ten minutes later, Adeline and the children went downstairs together.

Alice dragged the suitcase behind them.

"My precious Bennett!"

Stella exclaimed upon seeing them downstairs. She opened her arms and rushed to Bennett, crouching down to hug him.

"Mommy missed you so much!"

Bennett frowned slightly and leaned close to her ear. "Mrs. Collins, isn't acting exhausting?"

Stella narrowed her eyes slightly and lowered her voice. "Speaking of acting, your mommy's acting skills are even more exquisite, aren't they?"

Bennett pushed her away with a cold smile, stepped into the car with his short legs, and leaned against the leather seat elegantly. Then, he lazily glanced at Jasper. "Long time no see, Mr. Foster."

Jasper couldn't help but smile at Bennett's grown-up demeanor. "Indeed, it's been a while."

"If I'm not mistaken. Mr. Foster wanted to divorce Ms. Collins before he left."

Bennett remarked, looking at Jasper's askance. "How did a trip to Victoria Hollow City change your mind so suddenly?"
