Chapter 877 How Do You Plan to Deal with Her

Adeline froze when she heard Jasper's name.

She bit her lip, her hands twisting together under the table.

Jasper was going to be at tonight's party too?

"The Foster Group is trying to snag Hugo's order too," Tamsin's voice came through the Bluetooth earpiece in her ear.

"Adeline, stay cool. Don't let Jasper get to you."

"Your main goal tonight is to win over Hugo and become friends with him."

Adeline bit her lip, lowered her voice, and covered her mouth with her sleeve as she spoke softly, "But Hugo already said Jasper is his new friend."

If Jasper had already befriended Hugo before her, was it even worth trying tonight?

She didn't think she could make Hugo choose her over Jasper.

Tamsin let out a cold laugh, "Are you scared? Ready to give up?"

"Adeline, if you can't handle this kind of situation, how will you ever lead the Phoebe family?"

Her words made Adeline bite her lip hard.

After a moment, she took a deep breath, "Alright, I'll try."

Facing Jasper head-on wouldn't be a rare occurrence in the future.

Tonight was just a small dinner party. If she couldn't face this, how could she ever compete with Jasper?

With that thought, Adeline took a deep breath and smiled at Hugo in front of her, "I've heard a lot about you, Hugo, so I came with Allan today."

"I didn't expect you to be even more approachable than I imagined."

Hugo laughed heartily, glancing at Allan with a hint of mockery, "So that's how it is."

Allan's face instantly turned sour.

He cleared his throat, "Just a bit of fun, what do you know."

Then, Allan frowned and looked at Adeline beside him, "If you want to be friends with Hugo, why don't you offer him a drink?"

Adeline pressed her lips together and glanced at Hugo.

She wasn't good with alcohol and had a low tolerance.

Before coming, she had even taken some hangover medicine.

She looked at the glass of red wine in front of her, feeling a bit apprehensive.

The party hadn't even officially started, and they were already asking her to toast Hugo.

By the end of the night, she would probably have to drink a lot.

Would the hangover medicine even work by then?

Every time she got drunk, something bad happened. She was really afraid of making a fool of herself.

Embarrassing herself was one thing, but leaving a bad impression on Hugo would mean all her preparation and effort for the day would be wasted.

"Drink up," Allan frowned at Adeline.

"Don't you want to be friends with Hugo? You can't even handle a little drink?"

Adeline bit her lip, took a deep breath, and finally stood up, "Hugo, it's a pleasure to meet you. I'll drink this first as a sign of respect."

With that, she closed her eyes and downed the glass of red wine in one go.

As the wine went down, Adeline felt her head spinning.

She sat back down next to Allan, feeling strange.

She had taken hangover medicine, so she shouldn't be feeling drunk after just one glass.

Why?

Seeing the confusion in Adeline's eyes, Allan laughed, his voice dripping with sleaze, "This wine is specially mixed by Hugo, just for you ladies."

He lowered his voice, "You probably didn't know, did you? Tonight's party isn't just any party. It's a night where we share our female companions."

Adeline's eyes widened in shock. She gritted her teeth and glared at Allan, "What did you say?"

"I said, you don't understand us at all, yet you want to infiltrate our circle and do business with Hugo. How naive."

His words hit Adeline like a hammer. She bit her lip and quickly pressed the earring in her ear, speaking softly to Tamsin on the other end, "Things have changed. Send someone to get me out of here."

Adeline wasn't stupid. She didn't know Hugo well, but she was wary of something going wrong at the party. So she and Tamsin had a plan.

They had stationed plenty of lookouts and bodyguards outside. If something went wrong, they would rush in to rescue her.

But no matter how much she called for help, there was no response from Tamsin. No one from the hotel staff came to her rescue either. Adeline was on her own.

"Hugo," Allan stood up with a smile, "Let's switch places. This Adeline came for you. Tonight, she's all yours."

Hugo didn't hesitate. He sat down in Allan's seat, a wicked smile on his lips as he looked at Adeline, "I know what you want. It's all about my new mine's resources. How about this?"

He grabbed Adeline's chin, a cold smile on his lips, "If you stay with me and make me the head of the Phoebe family, I'll give you the resources and the mine. How about that?"

Adeline bit her lip and, with the last of her strength, slapped Hugo's hand away, "In your dreams!"

She struggled to stand and headed for the door. But she hadn't taken more than a few steps before Hugo grabbed her wrist. Adeline was too weak to fight Hugo. He easily pulled her into his arms.

"Sweetheart, where are you going?" Hugo laughed, "Don't you know the best way to please a man is in bed? Isn't that why you're here tonight?"

"I'm not!" Adeline struggled desperately, "I really thought this was just a regular party! I..."

Before she could finish, the door to the private room was kicked open. A cold wind blew in from outside.

A man stood at the door, his presence icy, his gaze cold as he looked at everyone in the room.

Hugo's grip on Adeline's hand froze. "Mr. Foster..."

He quickly let go of Adeline and eagerly approached the man with a smile, "Mr. Foster, you're finally here! I was just about to deal with this Phoebe family member, and here you are."

Jasper glanced indifferently at Adeline, then turned and sat in the seat Hugo had reserved for him. "Tell me, how do you plan to deal with this woman?"
