Chapter 475 Why Do You Want to Take Him Home?
Luna's words made Adeline, who was lurking outside the door, scrunch up her face in confusion.
When Jason mentioned Luna was terminally ill, Adeline thought Luna didn't look the part and was probably faking it.
She never expected that as soon as she hit the hospital, she'd catch Luna admitting to the whole charade.
But what really threw Adeline for a loop wasn't Luna's fake illness—it was Vikram. She always thought of Vikram as the nice guy, the one who'd take her for a spin when she was down.
Now, here he was, in cahoots with Luna, plotting against her.
Adeline was floored to find out that Vikram, who'd been waiting on Jasper to invest in his company, was actually bankrolling Luna. All the cash Luna used to mess with her came straight from Vikram.
These bombshells made Adeline feel a chill, even in the hot evening air.
She knew she shouldn't stick around; eavesdropping on Luna and Vikram's dirty laundry was risky. If they caught her, who knew what they'd do.
Adeline took a deep breath. As much as she wanted to hear more, she turned to leave.
But just as she started to walk away, the door behind her creaked open.
Vikram, stepping out, spotted Adeline's retreating figure.
He froze. What was she doing here? How long had she been there? Did she hear everything?
"What's up?" Luna, leaning on the hospital bed, noticed Vikram standing still at the door. "Who's out there?" she asked, trying to get up.
Vikram's reaction said it all.
"Nothing," he muttered.
Just as Luna's feet hit the floor, Vikram snapped back to reality.
He cleared his throat. "I just realized we've been talking so long it's already dark outside."
Luna pouted and flopped back onto the bed. "You're making a big deal out of nothing."
Luna warned, "Remember what I told you. Even if you like Adeline, keep it zipped. Or I'll spill the beans about that murder you committed."
Vikram narrowed his eyes. "Got it."
He shut the ward door and hurried after Adeline.
By the time he caught up, she was already in the elevator.
Just as the doors were closing, Vikram's hand shot out to stop them.
Under Adeline's surprised gaze, he stepped in and stood next to her.
The doors closed again.
Vikram stared at the numbers ticking down and frowned. "How much did you hear?"
Adeline raised an eyebrow and glanced at him.
She always thought Vikram was an open book, easy to read. But now, she realized she was dead wrong. Who did she think she was, anyway?
Adeline smirked at the numbers above the elevator. "If I say I heard everything, are you gonna off me?"
Her response made Vikram rub his forehead in frustration.
He took a deep breath, turned to her, and said seriously, "You've definitely got me wrong. I can explain."
Adeline squinted and instinctively scooted an inch away from him. "You don't owe me any explanations; we were never that tight."
Vikram raised an eyebrow, "Not tight? Adeline, how are we not tight?"
Seeing her pull away, Vikram got anxious and grabbed her shoulder, making her face him. "I can explain. I'm not who you think I am! Just give me a chance."
Just as Vikram finished, the elevator dinged, and the doors slid open to the first floor.
But Vikram ignored the people outside and finished his plea, "Let's find a quiet spot. How about your place?"
The air instantly turned icy.
Sensing the shift, Adeline turned her head and locked eyes with Jasper's cold stare.
Jasper stood at the elevator door, glaring at Adeline and Vikram.
If he wasn't mistaken, Vikram had just suggested going to Adeline's place. It was past eight, dark outside, and Vikram was holding her shoulders, talking about going to her place.
Jasper's face darkened.
Noticing Adeline's gaze, Vikram furrowed his brows and irritably glanced towards the door.
As soon as he met Jasper's eyes, Vikram felt like he was in an ice cave. He froze, then instinctively let go of Adeline's shoulders.
But after letting go, Vikram felt he shouldn't have.
So he smirked, turned around, and put his arm around Adeline's shoulders, acting all buddy-buddy. Then he looked at Jasper with a faint smile. "You're back. Luna's waiting for you upstairs."
Before Vikram could finish, Jasper stepped into the elevator.
In a flash, Jasper grabbed Vikram's hand from Adeline's shoulder and forcefully threw him out.
Vikram stumbled several steps before Ryan caught him, stopping him from falling.
"Jasper, you..." Before Vikram could finish, the elevator doors closed again.
The numbers on the display began to rise rapidly, stopping at the top floor.
Vikram bit his lip and quickly pressed the button for another elevator, intending to catch up, but Ryan stopped him.
Ryan said, "Mr. Das, don't forget this is Radiance Springs, Mr. Foster's turf. If you mess with his woman here, what do you think will happen to you if you weren't his relative? I suggest you go home now and not stir up more trouble. Otherwise, Mr. Foster has the power to make sure you never come to Radiance Springs again or see Adeline!"
Ryan's words made Vikram freeze. After a moment, he smiled bitterly and gave up.
Ryan was right. Jasper's power was too strong; he couldn't compete.
Top floor.
Adeline was dragged by Jasper straight to the rooftop.
As the rooftop door closed, Jasper pressed Adeline against the iron door. "Since when did you and Vikram get so chummy?"
Jasper pressed against Adeline, his eyes blazing with anger and possessiveness.
Jasper asked, "It's late; what are you planning to do by taking him home? Have you forgotten that Lauren and Blake are still living in Blue Bay? Do you really intend to get cozy with Vikram in the house I lent you, right in front of Lauren and Blake?"
