Chapter 86 What Illness Do I Have?
"Miss Wilson can really hold her liquor."
In private room 402, Adeline had just downed her sixth drink of the day.
She set the wine glass down, propped her cheek with one hand while leaning on the dining table, seductively licking the wine stain at the corner of her lips, and casting an enchanting gaze at the man beside her. "Christopher, it was you who said that if I drink another glass, you'll sign the contract."
"You're such a big boss, you wouldn't go back on your word to a little woman like me, would you?"
Her voice had a slight upward inflection at the end, like the call of a kitten, tempting.
Christopher, upon hearing this, nearly forgot who he was.
The beauty had made her request; how could he even think of breaking his promise?
"Sign, sign, sign!"
Christopher snatched the contract from the manager's hand without hesitation, "I'll sign it now!"
All the men present were shocked.
Until Christopher finished signing the contract, they couldn't snap back to reality.
To get this deal, they had tried every conceivable method.
They had even resorted to using beauty traps before, with the manager previously bringing in three beautiful women to negotiate with Christopher, only to be sent packing and even warned off by Christopher's wife.
They thought Christopher was a gentleman of integrity, which is why they didn't bring any women this time, thinking a group of men would be more straightforward.
But...
Adeline walked in, said nothing, drank a few glasses, and just like that, Christopher, the toughest nut to crack, was handled?
Facing the astonished gazes of everyone, Adeline twirled the end of her long hair, "Manager, you do know who I represent, right?"
The manager was momentarily stunned, hastily stowing the signed contract away while nodding furiously, "Of course, of course!"
"It will lead to a promotion for Ethan Sterling!"
Mission accomplished.
The woman stood up with a faint smile, her voice still soft and gentle, "I've had quite a bit to drink just now, and my stomach is feeling uncomfortable. I'd like to go to the restroom."
"You wouldn't deny me that, would you?"
Christopher narrowed his eyes, sizing up Adeline's face from top to bottom, "Why would I stop you from going to the restroom?"
Adeline chuckled as she stood up, but just as she was about to leave, her wrist was seized.
Christopher was sitting on the chair, looking at her with a half-smile, "Is Miss Wilson really going to the restroom, or now that you've achieved your goal, you're planning to make a run for it?"
"Do you really think that after signing a multi-million dollar order, you can just walk away scot-free?"
Adeline furrowed her brows.
"But Christopher... I really do need to go to the restroom."
Christopher let out a cold laugh, "You want to go to the restroom, fine."
"You have two choices."
"The first, I accompany you to the restroom."
Adeline: "......"
Damn, that's disgusting.
"And the second?"
Christopher laughed heartily, "I give you a basin, and you use it right here in front of us, how about that?"
As he spoke, he even glanced at the other men in the room, "We're all men here, we've seen our fair share of videos, but has anyone actually watched a beauty relieve herself right in front of you?"
The men in the room stayed silent, not uttering a word.
A chill crept over Adeline's heart.
These men, truly spineless!
After all, she had just secured a multi-million dollar deal for their company.
The contract was signed, and Christopher couldn't just change his mind willy-nilly.
But not a single one of them dared to say a word in her defense!
She bit her teeth and sat back down next to Christopher, pouring him a drink, "I suddenly don't feel like going to the restroom anymore."
"Christopher, this one's for you."
Christopher exhaled a snort of cold laughter from his nose, "Alright, after this drink, shall we go to a hotel?"
"Sure."
Adeline smiled as she agreed.
She couldn't afford to fall out with him so easily now; all of Christopher's bodyguards were outside, and the men inside were each more cowardly than the last. She couldn't count on any of them.
But if they went to a hotel, that would be a different story.
She had plenty of ways to make Christopher beg for mercy.
Seeing Adeline agree, Christopher laughed even more heartily, "You don't mind that I'm older, do you?"
"Not at all."
Adeline smiled, "I like older men."
As she finished speaking, the door to the private room opened from the outside.
The others in the room looked towards the door in surprise, yet none dared to make a sound.
Meanwhile, Adeline and Christopher were so focused on their own calculations that they didn't notice the change behind them.
Christopher smiled as he took the drink Adeline handed him, "Am I handsomer than any of your previous men?"
Adeline rolled her eyes inwardly at the old man's shamelessness.
She chuckled, "Of course you are the handsomest."
The woman's eyes flickered with an idea to repel the old man:
"Although I've had many men, none of them are worth mentioning."
As soon as she spoke, she felt the air in the private room turn chillingly cold.
But Adeline still finished what she had planned to say, "Especially the one from yesterday, so ugly and sick..."
At the doorway, Ryan looked at the increasingly dark face of his boss and couldn't help but speak out when Adeline uttered the words "sick".
"Cough, cough, cough, cough!"
Ryan was well aware of what had happened last night.
Adeline saying that the man from last night... was essentially saying that Jasper was ugly, dirty, and sick.
The woman sure had guts!
Ryan's voice made Adeline pause momentarily.
Almost instinctively, she looked in the direction of the sound—
Meeting the gaze of a man whose eyes seemed ready to tear her to pieces.
Adeline: "......"
When did he get here?
Seeing Adeline freeze, Christopher also frowned and looked over.
"Mr. Foster!"
He immediately stood up, the force causing the chair behind him to fall over.
But Christopher acted as if he hadn't heard a thing, his eyes excitedly on Jasper's face, "I heard you were also going to be at this bar tonight for business, and I was hoping to catch a glimpse of you from afar!"
"I can't believe... you actually came here!"
"Are you here for me!"
He was as excited as a little girl meeting her idol.
Jasper looked at him with disgust, the corners of his mouth curling into a sneer, "I, am not worth mentioning."
With that statement, the whole room fell silent.
After a few seconds of stunned silence, Christopher felt it was his lack of hospitality that had upset Jasper.
He quickly pulled over the main seat's chair, "Mr. Foster, what are you talking about?"
"Who dares to say you're not worth mentioning?"
The cold and proud man extended a finger, pointing at Adeline, "Her."
Adeline: "......"
What's gotten into this man?
Taking a deep breath, she smiled at Christopher, "Christopher, since you have an important guest, I won't disturb you any longer."
"Enjoy your meal and drink, I'll be leaving!"
With that, she grabbed her handbag, ready to make a getaway amidst the chaos.
Christopher glanced at her, and although reluctant, he nodded to let her leave.
No matter how beautiful the woman was, she was still just a woman; Jasper was more important.
After all, Jasper was a towering figure in Denver!
Adeline breathed a sigh of relief and walked past Jasper to the door.
In the moment they brushed past each other, the man's large hand coldly and firmly grasped her wrist.
"Where are you going?"
"Why don't you continue?"
"I'm ugly and sick."
His voice was as cold as winter's ice, "Miss Wilson, please do explain."
"What illness do I have?"
