Chapter 788 To the Airport!

Protected by Oliver, Adeline's face turned pale.

Her hands were tightly clasped together as she looked up at Fiona. "Mrs. Torres, I think we should call off this engagement."

"Why should we call it off?"

Fiona sneered, her gaze icy as she looked at Adeline. "Do you have any idea how much effort the Torres family put into saving you back then?"

She spoke with disdain, her eyes cold. "I never liked you, but Brandon insisted on taking care of you, even breaking off his engagement for you and looking after those three illegitimate children of yours!"

"And now that you're the daughter of the Phoebe family, you think you can just kick Brandon to the curb over a small matter?"

"Not a chance!"

"A small matter?"

Oliver narrowed his eyes, staring coldly at Fiona. "Your precious grandson snuck into the Phoebe Mansion in the middle of the night and slept with another daughter of the Phoebe family. You call that a small matter?"

Fiona scoffed, "It's not like it hasn't happened before!"

"They slept together six years ago, so what's the big deal if it happens again?"

"You're making a fuss over nothing."

She turned back to Adeline. "Regardless, the Torres family will not break off this engagement. You enjoyed Brandon's care back then, so you should marry him!"

"This is non-negotiable!"

With that, Fiona turned to leave.

Howard frowned and had someone stop her.

Howard crossed his legs elegantly, his gaze cold. "Mrs. Torres, you might have misunderstood why I called you here today. The Torres family did save Adeline, and we are grateful. Whatever you want, as long as the Phoebe family can provide it, we will."

"But since the Torres family minds the child Adeline is carrying, and Adeline minds Brandon's betrayal before the wedding... this engagement should be called off."

"However..."

Howard raised an eyebrow, "To better resist Jasper's Foster family, I think we should still form an alliance through marriage."

He pointed to Daisy, who had tears in her eyes. "I've decided to marry Daisy into your family."

"I refuse."

As soon as Howard finished speaking, Brandon, who was sitting in a wheelchair, looked up, his gaze cold, "I won't marry her."

Daisy's tears began to fall uncontrollably.

Howard's eyes narrowed, "You refuse?"

"If you won't marry her, why did you enter her room last night when you were clearly sober?"

Brandon was stunned, "I..."

Oliver played a surveillance video, "Mr. Torres, care to explain?"

Brandon was speechless.

He couldn't admit that he had lost his mind due to the drugs he took last night.

"Brandon."

From the sofa, Daisy looked at him with red eyes, "I know you don't like me, but..."

To others, her gaze seemed pitiful, but to Brandon, it was full of threats.

His fingers tightened on the wheelchair's armrest.

Daisy had collaborated with him on too many things.

Her threatening look meant that if he didn't do as she said, she would reveal everything!

He bit his lip hard.

He hadn't expected that the drugs he took to perform well with Adeline would lead to such a disaster!

He had been set up by Daisy!

Brandon harbored intense hatred, but he could only sigh lightly, "Actually, last night, I mistook Adeline's room for Daisy's... but the damage is done... I don't want to lose the Phoebe family as a partner."

He glanced apologetically at Adeline, "Adeline, we just aren't meant to be."

Finally, Brandon turned to Daisy, then to Howard. "Let's do as Mr. Phoebe suggested."

"Brandon!"

Fiona's brows furrowed. "Are you really going to marry this promiscuous woman? Do you know..."

Before Fiona could finish, Brandon's sharp look silenced her.

"That's settled."

Brandon looked at Howard, "But Mr. Phoebe, my mind is a bit muddled right now, and I can't accept this reality... so the wedding with Daisy might need to be postponed."

Fiona quickly added. "Yes, let's delay the wedding, delay it."

"Maybe in a while, your Ms. Phoebe will also have an illegitimate child... then the marriage might be called off!"

Fiona's words made the room's atmosphere turn icy.

Oliver narrowed his eyes coldly. "Who are you saying has an illegitimate child?"

Fiona covered her mouth, pretending to have misspoken, "I'm old, just pretend I didn't say anything!"

She smiled at Howard. "Mr. Phoebe, let's settle this. Brandon was at fault for not controlling his desires..."

"But you should also keep an eye on Daisy, so she doesn't make the same mistake!"

With that, Fiona pushed Brandon's wheelchair out.

As she left, she complained, "I really hate the smell of wisteria. When Leo planted it at home, it made me sick."

Once her voice faded, Howard angrily threw his coffee cup to the ground!

That Fiona always looked down on people!

If it weren't for Jasper's Foster Group coming to Oceancrest City to seize resources, he wouldn't have needed to ally with the Torres family and endure this humiliation!

"Father..."

Daisy quickly came over to calm him, "Don't be too angry, it's all my fault."

Howard finally took a deep breath, closing his eyes, "Daisy, help me to my room."

Daisy nodded and helped Howard to his room.

Once inside, Daisy lowered her head. "Father, it's all my fault today. If it weren't for last night..."

Howard sighed, "I don't blame you... you did it for the Phoebe family."

Daisy bit her lip, "I did want to get rid of Jasper's child for you, but..."

"Don't do such things again."

Howard closed his eyes, leaning against the headboard, "Children are innocent."

After Howard and Daisy went upstairs, Adeline finally breathed a sigh of relief and sat back on the sofa.

Oliver shrugged and poured her a glass of juice. "Well, it's a blessing in disguise. You finally got rid of your engagement with Brandon."

Adeline took the juice and said, "Yes."

She had been prepared to marry Brandon.

But she never expected the engagement to be called off like this.

"By the way."

Oliver glanced at Adeline. "During the confrontation with the Torres family, I heard your phone ringing. I wanted to remind you, but that old witch made me forget."

Adeline was startled and quickly opened her purse at the entrance.

Her phone was full of missed calls and messages.

All from Blake.

The last message was from half an hour ago: [Mommy, we're at the airport, about to leave.]

"Are you really not coming to see us off? Even a quick glance... who knows when we'll meet again."

Reading the message, Adeline's heart tightened.

She rushed out the door and got into the car. "To the airport!"
