Chapter 511 Knowing It's a Trap
A smirk played on Adeline's lips.
Just like she thought, Jasper and Luna were using Blake and Lauren as bait to get her over.
Adeline's smile widened. "What if I say no? I talked to Blake and Lauren last night, and they didn't mention anything about wanting me at Emerald Crest Estate."
She leaned back, crossing her legs with a casual grace. "So, is it the kids who want me there, or is it you or Luna?"
If Jasper could just be straight with her and admit it was Luna's idea, she might actually respect him for being honest.
Jasper remembered Luna's plan to surprise Adeline and apologize in person. He narrowed his eyes. "It's me who wants you to come over."
Jasper knew he already had a lousy image in Adeline's eyes, so what was one more bad impression?
Adeline burst out laughing.
Jasper was head over heels for Luna! Would he do anything she asked, no matter what? Tonight's invite was clearly a setup!
Thinking about it, Adeline sneered. "What if I don't want to go?"
Jasper asked, "Why not?"
Adeline shot back, "I don't want to see you and Luna flaunting your love; I don't want to be a third wheel. Is that a good enough reason?"
Jasper replied, "With the kids and Grandma there, you won't be a third wheel."
Adeline narrowed her eyes. "And if I still refuse, what then?"
Jasper crossed his arms, staring her down. "I'll cut off all signals at Emerald Crest Estate, so you won't be able to contact Blake and Lauren anymore."
Adeline's eyes widened.
Jasper wasn't kidding.
For Luna, he'd do anything.
With things at this point, Adeline had no choice but to agree. Besides, she had planned to go anyway.
Adeline took a deep breath and stood up. "You and Luna really know how to use the kids against me. As long as you control my kids, you control my life."
She shot a cold look at Jasper. "If only my kids' father wasn't you."
Adeline wouldn't have to be heartbroken over a father who always used their kids as leverage.
With that, she turned and walked away.
Jasper sat there, watching her leave with a cold expression.
If only he wasn't the father? Who did she want then? Sebastian? Vikram? Or the guy from last night?
Thinking about it, he pulled out his phone. "Ryan, did you find out who the guy was last night?"
On the other end of the line, Ryan sounded surprised. "No. Last night's fireworks party was packed and chaotic. It was hard to find anyone, and there weren't many cameras. We checked all the surveillance from the beach and nearby shops. It's like the guy was avoiding the cameras. All we know is he was wearing a cleaner's uniform."
Ryan continued, "Last night's fireworks party had half of Radiance Springs there, and the organizer hired a bunch of temporary cleaners to keep things tidy. After the party, they took their pay and left, no records or anything."
Ryan sighed. "Basically, we can't find him. But it's clear the pay was low, so anyone doing that job was probably from the lower social strata."
Ryan frowned. "Jasper, why are you looking for this guy?"
"Nothing," Jasper replied, his face hardening.
Even if Adeline was losing it, she wouldn't just grab some random guy to hug and kiss. So, the guy from last night had to be more than what Ryan was saying.
Jasper said, "Keep digging. Find out how many temps they hired last night and check each one."
Jasper needed to know who that guy was!
Ryan paused, then finally agreed. "Got it."
After leaving the restaurant, Adeline headed straight to Violet's place with some fruit.
Ethan had hurt his arm, and Violet was feeling guilty, trying to make desserts for him at home.
When Violet saw Adeline, she gave her a playful scold. "Why'd you bring fruit? We don't need it."
She glanced at Ethan, who was lounging on the sofa watching TV. "Adeline brought you some fruit."
Ethan got up quickly, ready to take the fruit, but Adeline laughed. "Who said the fruit was for the patient?"
She looked towards Violet's kitchen. "You have a juicer, right?"
Adeline's words made Ethan and Violet exchange a look and laugh awkwardly.
Violet scratched her head. "I knew it. We're so close, why would you suddenly bring fruit?"
Adeline laughed and pinched Violet's nose. "Just kidding."
Adeline took out two peaches, two oranges, and a tangerine. She washed the rest and put them on the dining table. "Most of it's for you guys, but I want to juice these and take them to Blake and Lauren tonight."
Hearing Blake and Lauren's names, Violet perked up. "You're seeing Blake and Lauren tonight? Jasper agreed?"
Adeline was cleaning the juicer as she nodded. "Yeah, Jasper invited me."
She turned on the faucet, a smile on her face. "Today at lunch, Jasper treated me to lobster, king crab, and wagyu beef. He wants me at Emerald Crest Estate tonight for the trap Luna set."
Ethan, peeling an orange with one hand for Violet, chuckled. "You know it's a trap, and you still agreed?"
Adeline shrugged and smiled. "Of course. Jasper threatened to cut off my contact with the kids, so I had to go. What choice did I have?"
Violet bit her lip. "Jasper's getting more and more out of line!"
Adeline didn't seem bothered. "But I plan to turn tonight's dinner into a trap for Luna."
