Chapter 584 Without the Status of a Wife

Rex and Brenda whipped their heads around, startled.

Standing at the villa's entrance was a jittery Nathan.

Next to Nathan, a stunning young woman was pushing a wheelchair towards them. The guy in the wheelchair looked pale and frail, but his icy arrogance and noble demeanor made everyone around him feel small.

Rex's brows knitted together. He thought, 'Isn't that the guy my parents always talked about as my future rival and role model, the CEO of the Foster Group, Jasper? Wasn't he supposed to be in a coma, on the brink of death?'

"Daddy!"

Lauren spotted Jasper in the wheelchair. She immediately tossed her ice cream into a nearby trash can and sprinted towards him. Even Blake set his laptop aside and quickly walked over to Jasper and Adeline.

Lauren flung herself into Jasper's arms. "You're awake! I knew Daddy would never leave us."

Lauren's enthusiasm made the weak Jasper a bit unsteady.

But he still managed to hug Lauren with a faint smile. "You know me best."

These past few days, Jasper could hear Adeline's crying, and he could hear Blake and Lauren missing him.

But he just couldn't wake up, like a heavy stone was pressing down on his head, and his eyes felt glued shut.

No matter how hard he tried, it was tough to open his eyes until Nathan showed up.

Worried that Adeline and the kids would be bullied, he woke up.

"Of course! I'm your little sweetheart!" Lauren laughed proudly, then turned to look at Rex and Brenda behind her. "Daddy, two bad people came to our house. They said that Daddy would never wake up, so everything would be theirs!"

Her words made the air around them instantly tense.

Nathan quickly said, "Lauren, don't take it seriously. This is your grandmother, and the other is your uncle. They must be joking with you."

Lauren rolled her eyes. "I don't want such relatives!"

Her words made Brenda's and Rex's faces turn awkward.

Nathan furrowed his brows, motioning them over while hinting at Rex. "Come on, greet Jasper! This is our family's first meeting!"

Rex quickly pulled Brenda over to Jasper. "Jasper."

Brenda said, "Jasper, just call me Brenda."

Jasper gave the two in front of him a cold glance, then looked at the water pump working in the distance. "The first time you meet me, you break into my house and pump water from my garden. What are you trying to do?"

Rex paused, not saying a word.

Lauren pouted and said angrily, "They wanted to kick Blake and me out. We lied to them, saying that there are two keys to the villa, one is with Dad, and the other is in the safe that was buried in the lake. So they were in such a hurry to find the key that they didn't kick us out."

Hearing this, Adeline finally got why Rex and Brenda were draining the lake. She rubbed her temples and turned to the workers. "Stop, there's nothing in the lake."

With Adeline's words, Rex's and Brenda's faces turned pale.

Jasper's lips curled into a mocking smile. "What do you need the key to Blue Bay for? Do you think this place is yours now?"

Nathan quickly jumped in. "It's not like that. Because I heard you were injured and in a coma, and Adeline was taking care of you, I think the kids were at Blue Bay with no one to look after them."

He added, "So I had them come to Blue Bay to take care of Blake and Lauren."

"They were looking for the key because they have a habit of carrying the house keys with them," he continued.

Jasper sneered and shot Nathan a cold look. "How poor has Dad kept them all these years? Don't they know that villas like Blue Bay use fingerprint and password locks?"

The three of them looked slightly embarrassed. Of course, they knew that high-end villas like Blue Bay used fingerprint and password locks.

Without a key, they couldn't change the locks. They wanted to take over Blue Bay, so they naturally wanted the key.

"Yes, we've always had a hard time outside."

Finally, Nathan was the first to react. He cleared his throat, quickly walking over to Rex and Brenda and grabbing each of them by the hand before turning to leave.

"Jasper, they were being foolish. If there was any misunderstanding, don't take it seriously. We won't disturb your family reunion," he said.

With that, he took the two and left. Jasper didn't stop them since he was too weak.

After being in a coma for seven days, waking up and arguing was too exhausting.

Seeing his pale face, Adeline quickly pushed him back into the villa and got him to the bedroom with Ryan's help.

Alice brought up the chicken soup she had prepared and handed it to Adeline.

Adeline sat by Jasper's bed, fed him the chicken soup, and sighed softly. "Good thing you woke up in time. Otherwise, the kids and I wouldn't know what to do."

Jasper looked at her beautiful face and couldn't help but smile. "You're the mother of my children. No need to fear them."

Adeline said, "Like your father just said, I'm not your legal wife. If he wants to kick me out, it's easy."

She added, "If you hadn't woken up, the three of us might have been sleeping on the streets tonight."

Jasper leaned against the headboard, smiling faintly. "Not having the status of my wife is quite troublesome."

Then he turned his head, looking seriously at Adeline's face. "How about we find a time to register our marriage and get you the title of Mrs. Foster?"
