Chapter 220 Evelyn Jumped Off the Building
When Jasper received a call from Luna, he was sitting in the car, attending a virtual international conference.
For some reason, since yesterday afternoon, the Foster Group had been under intense attack by foreign hackers.
The methods used by the hackers were very sophisticated, even Jasper himself needed some time to unravel them.
After the hackers breached the Foster Group's firewall, they went straight for the Foster Group's data core, with a sense of making the Foster Group go bankrupt at all costs.
At the same time, Brandon's Torres Group also took advantage of the situation to attack.
In less than two days, the Foster Group was under siege.
Jasper's intuition told him that all these matters were related to Adeline.
Firstly, Brandon was her good friend and possibly her future fiancé.
Secondly, this hacker was very likely the one who had been helping Adeline all along.
However, the one who had been slandering and framing Adeline online was Luna from the Evelyn's family.
Why would Brandon and this hacker target the Foster Group?
Evelyn's call knocked Jasper out of his reverie.
He didn't want to answer it, but after a moment of hesitation, he finally did.
"Jasper, I have something to tell you."
On the other end of the phone, Luna's voice trembled fiercely, with a hint of tears.
Jasper furrowed his brow and replied in a flat tone, "Go ahead."
He had never had any good feelings toward her from the beginning to the end.
"Can you help me? I don't want to go abroad..." Luna's voice on the phone carried a hint of tears. "Actually, I am not the real heir of the Evelyn's family.
"I am not Luna!
"The real Luna is someone else, she is..."
"Luna, who are you talking to?"
Before Evelyn could finish her sentence, Mr. Evelyn Sr's cold voice came from the phone.
The phone fell to the ground with a thud.
Shortly after, the call was disconnected.
Jasper furrowed his brow, his gaze faintly placing the phone down.
What were this father and daughter duo up to?
Was this a desperate measure to prevent Luna from going abroad?
He took a deep breath, without much time to think, a distress call came from the group's data center on the computer.
The man narrowed his eyes, solemnly picked up the computer, and plunged into a new round of battle.
Adeline accompanied Linda to the hospital.
Although Zavier's leg was not injured to the bone, the wound was deep, and he couldn't walk for a month.
Adeline sat on a chair, watching Linda gently feed Zavier oatmeal, couldn't help but sigh, "When I was in school, I thought you two were a good match."
Zavier chuckled lightly, "Back in school, I was actually interested in you.
"Every time you advised me to consider Linda seriously, but at that time, I found her a bit silly.
"Now it seems..."
The man looked at Linda tenderly. "Adeline's judgment is better than mine.
"If I had pursued Linda back in high school, my happiness would have come sooner."
His words made Linda blush.
She glared at him playfully, and her actions of feeding Zavier oatmeal became gentler.
Adeline rubbed her forehead helplessly. "Are you trying to provoke me?"
Linda blushed slightly. "Adeline, what are your plans for the future?"
"I have no plans." The woman shrugged. "Just like before, I'll get pregnant, go abroad to cure Blake's illness, and figure out the rest later."
Linda sighed, "When the news of your marriage to Jasper came, Zavier and I were happy for you, thinking you had married a good man, but..."
Before she could finish her sentence, Linda's phone rang.
She furrowed her brow and answered, "Father, what's wrong?"
Lyndon on the other end of the phone said something, and Linda's face turned pale.
After a while, she hung up the phone, looked at Adeline with a steady gaze.
"Luna is dead.
"She jumped off the building."
Adeline felt her muscles stiffen all over.
'Luna is dead?
'She jumped off the building?'
Adeline took a step back.
Just over an hour ago, Luna was having lunch with them, and now she was dead.
"Perhaps she felt ashamed and didn't want to go abroad?"
Linda sighed, "Luna was a high-minded person, maybe she couldn't bear this blow."
Adeline still found it unbelievable.
Earlier at the dining table, Luna seemed to have accepted Mr. Evelyn Sr's arrangements and had gone upstairs to pack her bags.
Luna's funeral was simple, which didn't match Mr. Evelyn Sr's grief over losing his daughter.
The explanation from the Evelyn's family was that the incident happened suddenly, and the reasons were somewhat embarrassing, so they kept it simple.
Adeline followed Jasper and Stella to offer condolences.
"You dare to show up here!"
Upon seeing Adeline, Mr. Evelyn Sr's emotions suddenly flared up. He reached out, angrily pointing at Adeline's face. "If it weren't for you, would my daughter have jumped off the building?
"Adeline, you owe our family a life!"
Adeline lowered her head. "Please accept my condolences."
Although she didn't think she had done anything wrong in this matter, she didn't want to confront Mr. Evelyn Sr at Luna's funeral.
"Condolences?
"How can I possibly offer condolences?"
Mr. Evelyn Sr glared angrily at Adeline. "Luna did trivial things for you!
"You even had Jasper come here to pressure her, forcing her to go abroad."
In his rage, Mr. Evelyn Sr shook off the servant's support, and he rushed up to Adeline, grabbing her collar and shaking her violently.
"She didn't want to go abroad, felt ashamed, and that's why she jumped off the building!
"Why couldn't you tolerate the things she did for you?
"If you had just endured, she wouldn't have died!
"It's your fault she's dead!"
Adeline's head was spinning from Mr. Evelyn Sr's shaking.
She kept reminding herself not to argue with such a grieving old man in her heart.
However, every twisted argument he made seemed laughable to Adeline.
What did he mean by if she had endured, Luna wouldn't have died?
If she had endured, Luna would have been better off dead.
Luna had a weak mental capacity, how could you blame her?
Mr. Evelyn Sr became angrier at her silence.
He angrily raised his hand and fiercely slapped Adeline across the face.
"Mr. Evelyn Sr, that's enough."
Just as his hand was about to slap Adeline, Jasper stepped forward indifferently, grabbing Mr. Evelyn Sr's hand.
"We are all saddened by Luna's death, but you should also be clear about how much this has to do with Adeline.
"In other words, you failed to take care of your daughter, how can you blame Adeline?"
After saying that, he let go of Mr. Evelyn Sr's hand. "But I just remembered something.
"Before Luna died, she called me once to tell me something.
"She was interrupted by you, Mr. Evelyn Sr.
"Based on the time of her death and the time she called me, she jumped off the building about ten minutes after she called me.
"What happened during that time?"
