Chapter 693 It Should Be the Phoebe Family
Did they want to take her back?
Adeline clutched the phone, her brow furrowed deeply.
"Brandon, what are you talking about? Who's trying to take me? Where are they taking me?"
Just as Adeline finished speaking, a loud crash came from the back of the car.
The impact was so strong that Adeline's head slammed into the front seat. Her vision went black, and she passed out.
When she woke up again, she was on a plane. The turbulent air made the plane sway from side to side.
As Adeline woke up, she saw a man in a black suit sitting in front of her. He had striking eyes and was lounging on a sofa, elegantly swirling a glass of red wine.
Adeline frowned and sat up. "Randy?"
The man sipping wine was none other than Brandon's cousin, Randy Torres.
Seeing Adeline awake, Randy chuckled softly, set down his glass, and glanced at her with a faint smile.
"Ms. Wilson, after returning to Radiance Springs, you've been inseparable from Mr. Foster. It's surprising you still remember the Torres family, who once saved your life, and me."
Adeline's brow furrowed even tighter. "Why did you bring me here? What do you want?"
"What do I want?" Randy's voice was calm. Of course, to remind you of past promises, Ms. Wilson. You did promise the Torres family something. It's time to fulfill that promise.
Adeline's hands clenched into fists at her sides. She had promised the Torres family that once she sorted everything out, she would return and marry Brandon.
First, after going through life-and-death situations with Jasper, she no longer hated him as much. In fact, as she knew all he had done for her, her long-buried feelings had resurfaced.
As for the second promise, she had agreed to marry Brandon because she was disillusioned with love and didn't care who she spent the rest of her life with. Plus, Brandon had lost his arranged marriage to save her, so she agreed to marry him to appease the Torres family.
But now, after returning to Radiance Springs, she had rediscovered her love. She didn't want to marry Brandon while still having feelings for Jasper. It wouldn't be fair to either of them.
She hadn't yet figured out a way to compensate Brandon and satisfy the Torres family.
Seeing Adeline's silence, Randy smiled faintly.
"Ms. Wilson, it seems you don't want to keep her promise."
He took a sip of his wine. "Understandable. Brandon is now a cripple. It would indeed be a humiliation for him to ask you to marry him."
Randy's words shocked Adeline.
"What did you say? What happened to Brandon?"
Randy sneered and tossed a tablet onto Adeline's lap. The tablet hit her, causing her to wince in pain, but she ignored it.
Adeline picked up the tablet and looked at it, her face turning pale instantly.
Three days ago, on Riverbend Road in Oceancrest City, there was a horrific car accident.
A truck collided with a sports car. The truck driver died on the spot. Brandon, the sports car driver, survived but suffered spinal nerve damage, leaving him paralyzed and with various other injuries.
Adeline clutched the tablet tightly, staring at the news photo of Brandon being pulled from the wreckage, covered in blood. Her heart ached as if it were being squeezed.
Randy glanced at Adeline coldly. "Isn't that so? Brandon is nothing but a cripple now."
He sneered. "Grandma said that even if Brandon is crippled, you still have to keep your promise to the Torres family. So she sent me to bring you back to marry him. But Brandon tried to stop me from coming to get you. He's a cripple now. How could he stop me?"
Randy's words made Adeline bite her lip hard. She recalled the phone call she received before the car accident. Brandon had been desperately telling her to run, saying someone was coming for her. It turned out he was talking about Randy.
He was still protecting her, even with his legs paralyzed, not daring to tell her and calling to warn her when Randy came to take her back.
But she...
Adeline closed her eyes, suppressing the surge of emotions.
"I won't marry Brandon. But with him injured like this, I should go back to see him and take care of him."
After all, Brandon had stayed by her bedside, taking care of her for so long. For the past six years, he had treated her and her three children like family. She couldn't ignore him now.
Taking a deep breath, Adeline picked up her phone to call Jasper, but there was no signal. She looked up at Randy.
Randy glanced at her coldly, a sneer on his lips. "Are you stupid or do you think I am? There's no signal on a plane."
Adeline silently put down her phone. Actually, the Torres family's private jet, which Brandon had once taken her on, could communicate with the outside world during flight. But Randy clearly didn't want her to contact Jasper, so he had blocked the signal.
She would have to wait until they landed in Oceancrest City to find a way to contact Jasper.
On the outer ring road of Radiance Springs Airport, Jasper arrived at the scene with his team, only to find the damaged car.
Ryan frowned. "Mr. Foster, after forcing the car to stop, they took Mrs. Foster and went straight to the airport and boarded a plane. From the car accident to Mrs. Foster boarding the plane, it was only five or six minutes. They had planned this in advance."
Jasper watched the surveillance video Ryan handed him, his eyes narrowing.
"Any other clues?"
Ryan replied, "The driver woke up in the hospital. He said the people who took Mrs. Foster were led by someone called Mr. Phoebe. And the car that forced Mrs. Foster's car to stop was rented under the name Oliver Phoebe."
"And..." Ryan handed Jasper a badge.
He continued, "This badge was accidentally left in the car. I investigated it. This badge is worn by bodyguards of the Phoebe family in Oceancrest City. The people who took Mrs. Foster are likely from the Phoebe family."
