Chapter 757 Get Well Soon
As soon as Jason heard they had found evidence that the Torres family had stolen the herbs, he perked up immediately.
He rushed over, his eyes fixed on Ryan. "What did you find?"
Jason's anxious gaze put some pressure on Ryan. He bit his lip. "Well... it's just some corroborating evidence."
Ryan pulled out his phone and played a video. "Mr. Foster was right. All the surveillance near Gate 2 at the airport was deliberately damaged and couldn't be repaired."
"But Blake, being meticulous, found a couple who were taking selfies and videos as they walked from another exit to Gate 2."
"We tracked down this couple and got the videos they shot that day. Sure enough, we saw Mr. Smith and Randy in the background."
He played the video. In it, a couple was laughing and talking about their trip to Oceancrest City. In the background, Jason was seen meeting a man in a flashy suit with slicked-back hair.
After exchanging a few words, Jason handed the man a bag with a box inside. Then Jason left. Another man with a similar bag showed up at Gate 2, waiting.
The video was too short to capture Dennis meeting the fake Jason, but it was enough to explain a lot.
Jason watched the video, his eyes narrowing. "I'm taking this to the Phoebe Mansion!"
For the first time in his life, Jason was furious at being played. He clenched his fists. "I want them to see what kind of person their so-called savior Brandon really is!"
"With Brandon's deceitful nature, the Phoebe family still wants to marry Adeline to him? They're pushing her into a pit of fire!"
He turned to leave and almost bumped into Dennis, who was just coming in.
Dennis frowned, "What's the rush?"
Jason quickly showed him the video. "I'm going to the Phoebe Mansion."
Dennis glanced at it and nodded. "The man at Gate 2 is the one who gave me the herbs."
He sighed and grabbed Jason, stopping him from leaving. "Jason, what are you planning to do?"
Jason closed his eyes, getting an IV while sunbathing. "This evidence... it's still not enough."
He turned to Ryan. "Have you found the man who impersonated Jason?"
Ryan hesitated, "We found him, but... he's dead."
Jason's eyes widened. "The Torres family is that ruthless?"
Dennis remained calm, "That's their style."
Dennis's words made Jason reconsider. "Do you still want to rush to the Phoebe Mansion and anger the Torres family?"
Jason's face turned pale, and he fell silent. He was impulsive at times, but not stupid. This was Oceancrest City, the territory of the Torres and Phoebe families. Even someone as powerful as Jason had to be cautious here.
Seeing Jason hesitate, Dennis closed his eyes and spoke softly. "Dennis, have you cleaned up your place?"
Dennis nodded. "David's people replaced everyone in the villa this morning. The original staff are all gone."
Just then, Jason's phone rang. It was David.
"We caught someone. One of the servants kicked out of Swan Villa went straight to the Torres Mansion. We found messages on his phone sent to the Torres family."
"My people are bringing him to you now."
Jason acknowledged and hung up. He stood up and glanced at Dennis. "Adeline from the Phoebe family is pregnant. As the son of Mrs. Phoebe's mentor and a renowned pharmacist, shouldn't you visit her?"
"Maybe you could prescribe something to help her pregnancy."
Dennis hesitated for a moment, then smiled. "You're right. I should visit."
He looked at Jason lying on the lounge chair. "I also need to check on Mrs. Phoebe. Nova used to help me with my medical kit, but she's busy with your kids now. Mr. Foster, would you mind helping?"
Jason chuckled, "I'd be happy to."
An hour later, Dennis, accompanied by two masked assistants in lab coats, entered the Phoebe Mansion.
It was Jason's first time there. The mansion was elegant. As they passed a wisteria-covered corridor, Jason frowned. His aunt Esther loved wisteria.
Lily always planted wisteria in the old house, hoping Esther would come back to see her when it bloomed. He didn't expect to see so much wisteria at Howard's place. Was it a coincidence or deliberate?
Esther had an unwed pregnancy for him, married him, and then died from abuse. Yet Howard planted so much wisteria here. Was it a provocation?
Jason's eyes grew colder. Soon, Dennis led Jason and another assistant to Zara's place. She was weak, so Howard had arranged for her to rest in a small cabin in the backyard.
"Mother, you must get better soon."
As they entered the backyard, they heard Adeline's gentle voice from the cabin. Jason hadn't heard her speak so softly in a long time.
"Yes," Brandon's warm voice followed, "Get well soon so we can have our wedding."
Zara's weak voice replied, "Don't wait for me. I might not recover."
"Don't say that," Brandon said softly, "We need you to name Adeline's baby."
Jason's eyes darkened. If Adeline had made up the pregnancy to avoid him, why would Brandon say that?
