Chapter 583 Sorry to Disappoint You
Nathan's slap never made it to Adeline's face.
"Jasper?" Nathan exclaimed.
Adeline squeezed her eyes shut, hearing Nathan's shocked voice.
She peeked open her eyes. Right in front of her was Jasper's pale, sweaty hand gripping Nathan's wrist.
Adeline was both stunned and thrilled, quickly turning her head.
Jasper was half-kneeling on the bed, looking ghostly pale, his hospital gown drenched in sweat. It seemed like just getting up and grabbing Nathan's hand had drained all his energy.
"Adeline." He whispered her name, then let go of Nathan's hand and collapsed.
Adeline rushed to support him. "Jasper! You're awake!"
Jasper lay back on the bed, giving a weak smile. "If I didn't wake up, my son, daughter, and wife would all be kicked out."
His words made Adeline's face flush. After all, she was his ex-wife.
Nathan, standing a bit away, looked embarrassed. After a moment, he composed himself and smiled obsequiously at Jasper. "Jasper, you're awake? That's my boy, strong as ever!"
In fact, from the first day Jasper was in a coma, Nathan had known through his calls with Lily.
He knew Jasper only had a week to wake up.
On the last day, he believed Jasper wouldn't wake up. So he brought his mistress and illegitimate son, planning to take over the Foster Group and all of Jasper's assets while he was gravely ill.
Unexpectedly, Jasper woke up with just an hour or two to spare!
"Sorry to disappoint you, Dad."
Jasper looked at Nathan with a cold, indifferent expression. "Dad rushed back from abroad, but I woke up. What a pity!"
Nathan's face instantly darkened. He forced a smile. "Jasper, what nonsense are you talking about? I'm happy you woke up too."
Jasper leaned against the hospital bed and laughed, though the smile was weak and pale, making it hard for Nathan to breathe. "But why don't I see a bit of excitement on your face?"
Just then, Ryan came in with the doctor.
Seeing the doctor about to examine Jasper, Nathan quickly stood up. "Jasper, since you're busy here, I'll leave now and come back tomorrow."
"Wait." Jasper spoke coolly, stopping Nathan, who had reached the door, "The doctor's examination will only take a few minutes. Why are you in such a hurry to leave?"
He asked, "Are you going to Blue Bay? Now that I'm awake, I want to go back to Blue Bay too."
Nathan's face turned livid. Jasper knew about Blue Bay, which meant he had heard everything Nathan said to Adeline.
Nathan's eyes narrowed slightly, and he lowered his voice. "Jasper, I think you should stay in the hospital to recover."
"No, I should go home now. After all, your other son is also my brother, I haven't seen him in years. I should go back and see him." Jasper turned to the doctor examining him. "Doctor, can I go home?"
The doctor nodded. "During your coma, your body recovered well. As long as you avoid overexertion and don't touch the wound, you can be discharged."
The doctor's words made Nathan feel a sense of despair.
He quickly took out his phone and secretly messaged his lover and illegitimate son: [Brenda, Rex, leave quickly! Jasper is awake and heading to Blue Bay!]
The phone on the coffee table at Blue Bay vibrated, but the living room was empty.
In the small garden, Rex Foster and Brenda Baker were staring at the draining lake. "You aren't lying, right? There's really a safe at the bottom of this lake?"
Blake and Lauren sat on a nearby chair, one licking an ice cream, the other holding a laptop.
Lauren took a bite of her ice cream and glanced at the laptop screen in Blake's arms.
"The safe is located in the lake according to the computer."
She sighed. "Although I don't know the reason, my dad indeed put the spare key to the villa in the safe and then threw the safe to the bottom of the lake."
Blake sighed and shook his head seriously. "There's no choice; too many people covet Daddy's property."
Lauren quickly nodded in agreement. "Blake, do you think there might be cash or bank cards in the safe besides the key?"
Blake nodded. "I think so. Otherwise, why go to such lengths just to hide a key in the lake? Keep your voice down, don't let them hear."
The children's conversation made Rex sneer inwardly, 'Kids are just kids. I not only hear but also plan to take everything Jasper had hidden in the safe!'
Thinking of this, he looked impatiently at the worker beside him. "How much longer to drain the water?"
The worker frowned and estimated. "Two hours."
Rex waved his hand impatiently. "Hurry up!"
The worker sighed. "This is already the fastest."
"Rex, are you sure we shouldn't tell your dad we're here?" Brenda stood worriedly beside Rex, lowering her voice. "He said Jasper might still wake up."
Rex snorted. "That half-dead guy, even if he wakes up, I'll put him back down, smother him under the covers!"
"Really?" Suddenly, a cold male voice came from behind. "Then you might be disappointed."
