Chapter 67 Mr. Blake Arranged For Us to Come
Chapter 67 Mr. Blake Arranged For Us to Come
"Daddy, Auntie, what are you talking about?"
Seeing Adeline and Jasper staring at her, Lauren ran over, her smile brighter than the sunlight, pulling at her hem of her dress.
Jasper glanced at Adeline and raised his hand to ruffle the little girl's hair. "Nothing much, do you like the dress?"
"I love it!" The little girl's voice was clear as a silver bell. "Mommy made it for me, and I really like it!"
As her little body swayed, a small ornament behind her fell off.
Adeline frowned slightly. "Don't move around."
Lauren dared not move anymore.
The woman picked up the fallen ornament from the ground and said, "Bring the box to me."
"Okay!" Lauren ran and fetched the box.
"Do I need to take off the dress?" The little girl tilted her head innocently.
"No." Adeline skillfully took out the needle and thread from the bottom compartment of the box. "Turn around."
Lauren obediently and carefully turned around.
The woman deftly sewed the small ornament back in its original place.
Once done, she breathed a sigh of relief, inspected the dress for any loose parts, and then put the needle and thread back into the box.
She had made this dress a long time ago when she had just started learning how to make clothes. Her technique and skills were not yet professional enough.
Looking at it now, she noticed there were still quite a few flaws.
When she finished packing the box and looked up, she met Jasper's deep and unreadable gaze.
He stared at her fixedly. "You seem to be familiar with this dress and box."
He had personally gone to Omaha to find the house where Adeline used to live, and fetch the box.
Both the house and the box were covered in dust, clearly untouched for a long time. Nobody had opened the box for a while.
But Adeline was able to accurately find the needle and thread stored in the box compartment.
This was truly unexpected.
Under his dangerously scrutinizing gaze, the old Adeline might have panicked.
But now...
She smiled lightly. "I have done some tailoring work and such. This dress has a simple structure, clearly the work of a beginner. It's not difficult."
"And also, many people are familiar with sewing and have some knowledge of needlework. Accustomed to putting needles and thread in the box for sewing dresses," she said, raising her head to look at Jasper. "I can guess all of this. There's nothing to be surprised about."
"It's Mr. Foster who's surprising. You had such deep feelings for your ex-wife, yet you didn't even know she was a beginner or about her sewing habits?"
Jasper was taken aback by her question.
He admitted that he had never truly cared about Adeline in the past.
The man's gaze grew heavy. "I wasn't there with her when she made this dress."
"When she only made this dress?"
In the past, he had never been there for her.
Even when she went to the hospital for pregnancy check-ups, she went alone.
She initially thought he was busy, believing he was a man focused on his career.
She even suggested Molly become his assistant, to help shoulder his burdens.
And what was the result?
They ended up together. Wasn't she the most foolish person in the world?
She could even imagine how happy he and Molly must have been on their so-called business trips.
"Adeline."
With the series of her provocative questions, Jasper furrowed his brows.
He stared at her coldly and said, "This isn't a question you should be asking. Don't think that just because today is your last day working here, I will endlessly indulge your curiosity about my personal matters."
Adeline paused for a moment before coldly laughing, "Apologies."
"I was just casually asking, didn't expect to touch a nerve with Mr. Foster." She stood up, bowed arrogantly, and said, "I'm sorry, sir. It won't happen again."
She turned and briskly walked upstairs.
Watching her leave, Jasper creased his forehead tightly.
This woman was becoming more and more insolent.
"Daddy, don't be mad at Auntie,"
Sensing Jasper's displeasure, Lauren cautiously approached, pulling Jasper's clothes. "Auntie is feeling down because she's going to be separated from Lauren. Don't make things difficult for her."
The man lowered his gaze, looking at his daughter whose eyes were shining brightly, and his heart instantly softened.
He embraced her and said, "You, you're just too naive."
How could that woman be feeling down because she was going to be separated from her?
It was she who chose to leave.
He had given her the opportunity to change her mind, having waited hours for her.
But she hadn't even shown up, and now she was pretending to be reluctant, pretending to be upset?
Jasper sighed. "Let's eat. After dinner, I'll have Ryan take you to pick a few new maids."
Lauren bit her lip and nodded. "Okay."
Once mommy has left, she really will need someone to take good care of her.
Even though she believed that she could be independent, mommy and her brothers thought she still needed someone.
In order to put their minds at ease, she will take a maid.
After dinner, Ryan led Lauren to the reception room in Blue Bay.
In the reception room stood a row of women, waiting respectfully.
"Lauren, these women are here to apply for the position of your maid. Mr. said you may choose for yourself."
Lauren nodded and walked in with her little legs.
Too strong-looking, no.
Too thin, no.
Too fierce, no.
But when she saw the fourth woman...
Lauren's eyes lit up and she almost screamed.
This woman...
Audrey? The maid who used to work at Uncle Brandon's house when she was abroad?
Seeing that she recognized her, Audrey winked at her.
Lauren made a firm decision, "I want her!"
Ryan was completely puzzled.
This woman was small and thin, far worse than the previous ones, so why did Lauren choose her right away?
After choosing Audrey, Lauren looked back again and found two maids from Brandon's house in the line.
She kept them all.
"Lauren, you have a mind of your own, just like Mr. Foster," Ryan sighed and dismissed the rest of the people.
From choosing Adeline back then to choosing Audrey now, Lauren was decisive and unwavering.
This decisive way of doing things...Was indeed just like her father.
After Ryan left, Lauren hurriedly led Audrey and the other two upstairs.
Upstairs, Adeline was busy packing her belongings.
When she saw Lauren bringing three women up in the corner of her eye, Adeline smiled bitterly, "New maids?"
"They're old maids," Audrey spoke up behind her before Lauren could say anything, "Miss Wilson, it's us."
That voice...so familiar?
Adeline turned her head abruptly.
The three women behind Lauren were none other than the maids who used to take care of the three children in Brandon's house.
Adeline was both surprised and delighted, "How did you get in here?"
"Young Master Blake arranged it."
Audrey smiled, "Young Master Blake couldn't rest assured about his sister, so he approached Mr. Torres and had us come here."
Adeline was stunned, her heart filled with gratitude.
Although Blake never spoke much, he always took special care of her and his siblings.
She took a deep breath, "Blake sent you... Brandon doesn't mind?"
"He doesn't," Audrey replied with a smile, "Mr. Brandon has no objections.
"Mr. Torres personally escorted us to Denver."
"He came?" Adeline furrowed her brows. "Where is he?"
Since he came all the way to Denver, why didn't he contact her?
"Mr. Torres said you'll meet him tonight, no need to worry."
Adeline's heart tightened.
She would be able to meet him tonight...
"Is he attending Grandma Foster's birthday banquet tonight?"
