Chapter 707 Still Proceed According to the Original Plan
Jasper's brow furrowed deeply when he heard Brandon's words. His dark, unreadable eyes stared coldly at Brandon.
"You know Adeline doesn't like you. I don't care."
Brandon smirked, his gaze lightly resting on Jasper's face.
"I only want her; feelings don't matter."
Jasper squinted, his hands clenched into tight fists at his sides.
From a distance, Adeline saw Jasper's clenched fists and the veins bulging on his forehead.
Fearing Jasper might impulsively hurt Brandon, she rushed forward, pulling Brandon's wheelchair back and spreading her arms to shield him.
"Jasper, Brandon hasn't troubled me or forced me. It's all my choice. If you're really that angry, take it out on me. Don't pick on him!"
Jasper looked up, staring intently at Adeline.
Her gaze was cold, firm, and guarded.
As if he was someone who would hurt others at any moment.
The hardness in Jasper's heart gradually faded.
His fists slowly unclenched at his sides.
What made her think he would hurt someone disabled?
In her eyes, what was he now?
Noticing Jasper's silence, Adeline bit her lip and dared not look at him again, fearing that another glance might weaken her resolve.
Adeline pushed Brandon's wheelchair and turned back to the villa.
Jasper stood there, watching her back, almost unable to stand.
Ryan quickly supported him.
Jasper shook his head at Ryan, turned around, and slowly moved out of the courtyard.
His pride wouldn't allow him to collapse at this moment.
Seeing Jasper's state, Ryan felt deeply pained.
No one knew better than Ryan how much Jasper had sacrificed for Adeline during this time.
Why did it end like this?
Ryan couldn't understand at all!
With Ryan's help, Jasper returned to the car.
Pale-faced, Jasper sat in the back seat, his voice hoarse to the extreme.
"Ryan, take me to the hospital. And have someone investigate what Brandon and the Torres family have been up to recently."
Ryan's heart ached. He started the car, nodding frantically.
"Alright, we're going to the hospital now!"
As the black Maserati left the Torres family Mansion, it began to rain heavily.
Adeline stood on the second-floor balcony, watching the car leave, tears silently streaming down her face.
If only she had known it would come to this, why did she make those choices before?
He had cast her aside, never seeking her out since arriving in Oceancrest City, only leaving her to wait.
Now why come here to play the victim and try to win her back?
Even if she did change her mind, what then?
Would she become important to him?
Adeline didn't dare to contemplate it. Given Brandon's current situation, she couldn't afford to wait any longer.
"If you really can't let go, you should go find him."
Suddenly, Brandon's gentle voice came from behind.
Adeline wiped away her tears, suppressing all her emotions, and turned around with a smile.
"Who said I can't let go? Do I look like I can't let go?"
Brandon sighed, his face hidden in the dim light, his expression unreadable.
"Adeline, I don't want to make things difficult for you. If..." He sighed, his voice hoarse. "If you really can't let go of Jasper, I'll let you go. Don't worry about me, I'll be fine."
Brandon wheeled himself over to the floor-to-ceiling window, standing beside Adeline and looking out into the distance.
"I'm already like this. No matter how badly they treat me, they won't actually kill me. Your happiness is more important."
Brandon's words made Adeline's heart ache. She bit her lip, shaking her head desperately.
"No. I won't let you get hurt because of me again."
Adeline hadn't known the reason for Brandon's car accident before.
Last night, Fiona finally revealed to her the truth: Brandon's car accident happened because he didn't want her to return and marry him!
She owed him a great debt of gratitude, spanning from six years ago to the present day.
So no matter what, she couldn't owe him any more this time.
Brandon sighed. "But Adeline, I don't want to see you unhappy."
Adeline paused, then forced a smile.
"Tonight I'll wear the most beautiful dress and become the most beautiful woman in Oceancrest City. How could I be unhappy? Jasper didn't even let me wear the most beautiful dress for our wedding. I have nothing to regret."
Brandon squinted at her forced smile, a hint of coldness flashing in his eyes.
After a moment, he reached out and held Adeline's hand.
"You didn't sleep well last night, and tonight will be late too. You may go rest now. So you'll have the energy to deal with everyone tonight."
Adeline paused, then nodded seriously. "Okay."
She really needed a good rest.
After giving Brandon a few more instructions, she finally sighed and returned to her room.
Hearing Adeline's door close, Brandon squinted slightly.
He looked up at the gloomy sky and pouring rain outside the floor-to-ceiling window, a faint smile on his lips.
After a while, Brandon took out his phone and dialed a number.
Soon, a woman's cool voice came from the other end.
"Mr. Torres, what a surprise to get a call from you. You're getting engaged to Adeline tonight. Shouldn't you be with your beauty, feeling triumphant? How do you have time to contact an old flame like me?"
Brandon squinted slightly, his voice cold and devoid of emotion.
"Ms. Phoebe, our engagement was called off six years ago. Are you still hung up on it?"
Daisy sneered on the other end. "Yes, it's been six years. When you insisted on calling off our engagement, I thought you were really going to give up on the Phoebe family alliance. But I didn't expect..."
She continued, "Mr. Torres, you actually had the real daughter of the Phoebe family undergo plastic surgery and kept her by your side, waiting to strike at the crucial moment."
Brandon squinted, coldly changing the subject.
"I didn't call to hear you talk about this."
Daisy asked, "Oliver is back. Does tonight's plan need to change?"
"No need."
Noticing he didn't want to chat, Daisy didn't waste any more words.
"Proceed as planned."
Her voice was icy.
"During tonight's engagement ceremony, Jasper will definitely attend. When he's too preoccupied with the Phoebe family, I'll revive the Phoebe family in one fell swoop. By then, Howard won't have a choice but to hand over control to me. Once I truly control the Phoebe family, you and I can empty it out completely. There's still time."
