Chapter 542 You Took Something From Me
In the hospital of Neon City.
Linda and David did everything they could to keep Adeline from getting the news about Radiance Springs, but she still caught Luna's interview.
The stuff Luna said freaked Adeline out.
Every word hinted that Blake and Lauren were the ones who kidnapped Evelyn! Luna even mentioned that Jasper had locked them up at home for "education." What kind of education?
Adeline kept trying to call Blake and Lauren, but she couldn't get through.
In the end, she called Violet.
Violet wanted to keep it from Adeline, but she was too straightforward to hide anything. Adeline used a little trick, and in a moment of panic, Violet spilled everything about her call with Luna.
After hanging up, Adeline felt like she couldn't breathe.
She couldn't reach Blake and Lauren, and Luna said Jasper had sent them away and locked them up.
Adeline knew how cold Jasper could be towards Blake and Lauren. When they were seriously ill, he didn't even pay a dime for their medical bills.
Now Jasper thought Adeline was mentally ill and the kids had committed kidnapping. It might be true he had sent them away.
After hesitating for a long time, Adeline got out of bed. She couldn't hide forever.
Her kids were still in Jasper's hands.
Instead of waiting for Jasper to find her and making everything worse, she might as well go back now. Maybe the kids could suffer a little less!
Linda asked, "Where are you going?"
Adeline stumbled to the door, bumping into Linda and David as they came in.
She was still very weak, her face pale, and her voice faint. "I'm going back to Radiance Springs. I can't let Blake and Lauren stay with Jasper."
Linda frowned and hugged her tightly. "Adeline, have you forgotten what you went through in Radiance Springs? Do you want to lose more fingers?"
Adeline was stunned for a moment and glanced at her left pinky finger. It was gone.
When her finger was smashed, the pain was unbearable. Even now, thinking about it made her whole body tremble. But even so, she felt she should go back. What was a finger compared to Blake and Lauren? Blake was always sensible, but he was terrified of the dark. Lauren had been pampered since childhood, and her autism had just recovered. They couldn't withstand Jasper's harm!
If going back to Radiance Springs and changing Jasper's mind meant losing a few more fingers, so be it!
Adeline bit her lip, pushed Linda away, and continued to stumble forward. "I still have to go back. I brought them into this world to protect them. If I can't do that, what kind of mother am I?"
Seeing her thin figure slowly walking forward, Linda felt a pang in her heart and quickly signaled to the people around her.
Two bodyguards rushed up and stopped Adeline.
Adeline struggled, her face expressionless. "Let go of me. Let me find my children. Let go of me!"
When Adeline couldn't break free, all her pent-up emotions finally burst out.
She cried out in pain, shouting and screaming. "Jasper, what do you want from me! What do I have to do for you to let me go, to treat me and the kids a little better! What did I do wrong? Even if I recklessly fell in love with you, it was a long time ago. Why do I still have to suffer now?"
Her painful cries echoed through the hallway. All the sadness and pain she had been holding in finally erupted.
Linda couldn't help but tear up. She rushed up and hugged Adeline. "Everything will be okay. Adeline, take it easy."
Adeline shook her head desperately. "It won't be okay; nothing will be okay."
She couldn't escape Jasper's grasp, and she couldn't protect her children.
At first, she couldn't protect Blake, who had a terminal illness. Later, she couldn't protect Bennett, who went missing in an explosion, and Lauren, who had autism.
Now Blake and Lauren had recovered, and Bennett had returned. Everything was moving in the best direction.
But Jasper, because of a few words from Luna and Bennett, concluded that she was mentally ill! He forced her to endure those painful tortures; he even forced her to be separated from Blake and Lauren!
Seeing Adeline and Linda hugging and crying, David silently looked away.
He wasn't a sentimental person. But at this moment, he couldn't bear to watch or listen anymore.
Suddenly, David's phone rang.
It was a message from Jasper: [I'm downstairs at your private hospital in Neon City.]
David's eyebrows furrowed, and he quickly walked to the window to look down. Sure enough, he saw a black Maserati parked at the hospital entrance!
At this moment, Jasper in black was opening the car door and striding towards the hospital entrance!
David shivered and quickly turned back to look at the two women still hugging and crying in the distance. "Stop crying, Jasper is here."
One sentence made Adeline and Linda stop crying instantly.
Linda's eyes widened. "Why is Jasper here?"
David frowned, hiding the fact that he had sent Jasper the X-ray photos. "Maybe he figured it out. Adeline doesn't have many friends in the country. If it's not those in Radiance Springs, it must be us. She was injured. After we rescued her, we would definitely come to the hospital."
After cursing, Linda quickly helped Adeline and dragged her into a nearby ward.
As soon as the ward door closed, the elevator opened.
Jasper's footsteps echoed in the hallway. He strode up to David, a slight smile on his lips. "Long time no see."
David's expression was a bit stiff. "It has indeed been a long time."
David cleared his throat, turned, and dismissed the bodyguards who had just restrained Adeline, then he smiled at Jasper. "What brings you here all of a sudden?"
Jasper smirked.
If David had been alone just now, there wouldn't have been so many bodyguards in the hallway. These bodyguards were clearly arranged to protect someone.
Jasper glanced at the tightly closed ward door and then turned to sit on the bench opposite the ward. He elegantly crossed his long legs. "You took something from me, so naturally, I am here."
