Chapter 59 Can You Promise Me?

Adeline followed Ryan into the ward.

Jasper set the file aside and raised an eyebrow at Adeline. "You watched me for twelve minutes outside the door."

Adeline smiled faintly. "Mr. Foster is so handsome. I got engrossed."

Jasper neither acknowledged nor denied her praise.

He gently picked up the cup of steaming hot water next to him and took a sip. "So handsome that you'd risk the time to peek into the ward?"

He glanced at Adeline and asked, "Would you like some?"

There were faint water marks on his cool lips.

Adeline's lips curled coldly as she walked over and snatched the cup. She finished the remaining water in one go. "Thank you, Mr. Foster."

The warm water flowed down her throat, making her feel warm all over.

But her heart remained cold.

"I heard that you promised Grandma you would leave Blue Bay." Jasper narrowed his eyes, his gaze as deep as a pool, unfathomable. "Have you achieved your goal then?"

"No." Adeline sat down on a nearby chair and adjusted herself into a comfortable position. "I still have a long way to go."

"Then why are you leaving?"

Adeline chuckled softly. "You always wanted me to leave, right? After Grandma Foster's birthday banquet, I will truly leave."

Jasper narrowed his eyes.

When he wanted her to leave before, she tried every means to stay by Lauren's side and not leave.

But now that he rescued her from the fire and nearly died for her, she decided to leave because of a few words from his grandmother.

This woman was truly unfathomable to him.

Her whole being exuded mystery, making him unable to grasp her intentions.

She wanted to approach and explore on her own accord.

Even the temptation she brought to him was hard to resist.

"If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving."

His intense gaze made Adeline uncomfortable.

She stood up, smiled at him, and walked away quickly.

As her hand grasped the door handle, the man leaning against the bed furrowed his brows. "Are you not going to miss her?"

Adeline sneered in her heart.

"I'll indeed miss Lauren."

"Just Lauren?" Jasper narrowed his eyes.

"Mr. Foster, you've been in a coma for a few days and have just recently awakened. Don't overwork yourself. Be careful of death by overexertion."

After speaking, Adeline opened the door and left.

Once she was gone, Ryan cautiously pushed the door open. "Sir, should we start looking for a new maid?"

Jasper closed his eyes. "Let's talk about it later."

He wasn't quite ready to let her go.

...

The morning sunlight shone through the floor-to-ceiling windows.

The sunshine was bright, and the air was just right.

Bennett lifted the juice and took a sip. "Mr. Foster, I asked you out today to show you this evidence."

He placed a tablet in front of Jasper.

The man furrowed his brows and opened it.

The tablet played some videos and photos.

The videos showed a few burly men chatting outside Adeline's fire door.

The photos showed Molly dining with these men, with a display of money.

As he scrolled further, there were videos and photos at an amusement park.

Each image, each piece, had Molly.

Jasper furrowed his brows. A hint of surprise flashed in his eyes. "Did you collect all of these?"

This person in front of him was clearly only five or six years old.

Ordinary children at his age would still be crying in kindergarten, but this little guy could not only chat with him coherently and be friends but also find so much evidence.

How did such a young child manage this?

"It was Tim and Tom's help, but their abilities are limited, so they only found this much evidence." Seeing through the man's thoughts, Bennett shrugged nonchalantly. "On my own, I definitely wouldn't have been able to gather so much evidence."

The young boy narrowed his eyes slightly as he looked at Jasper.

"However, I'm just a kid, and Tim and Tom are just bodyguards. The three of us were able to find this much evidence. I believe if Mr. Foster really wanted to investigate, he would have already known who the mastermind is. But it's been so long, and you still haven't made any moves. It's quite surprising," Bennett said with a sarcastic smile on his lips. "You don't seem to like your daughter, Mr. Foster."

Though his voice sounded childish, his tone and manner were no different from an adult's. He seemed mature for a six-year-old child.

Jasper smiled faintly. "I have my own plans."

"Oh," Bennett scoffed, "I don't care about your plans. I showed you these today just to let you know that I've found evidence.

"Adeline is my mommy, and Lauren is your daughter. This woman nearly harmed both of them on multiple occasions.

"As an adult, I think it's your responsibility, Mr. Foster, to take the initiative to handle this matter. If you still don't want to get involved, I can go to the police myself."

However, as a six-year-old child, others would doubt the authenticity of this evidence if he took it to the police. Tim and Tom were both too dull. He didn't want to drag Violet into this. Therefore, after careful consideration, he believed Jasper was the most suitable person.

Besides, he also wanted to test whether Lauren was important to Jasper. Who would he protect—Molly or Lauren?

Then he could conclude that all the things he saw on the computer were fake!

"Leave this matter to me." Jasper understood his intention. "Do you have backups of the videos?" He put the tablet aside and asked calmly.

Bennett nodded. "Yes."

"Delete them." His voice was deep and serious. "I already have these videos, so you don't need to keep them. I can handle this matter. Just stop stirring up trouble.

"You should know that if these videos are spread, with her financial resources, it won't be difficult to trace them back to you through the internet. It's better for you not to trouble others while living with your aunt. What do you think?"

Bennett pursed his lips and looked at him seriously. "Then, can you promise me that you will make sure this woman gets punished?"

He wasn't afraid of trouble, but he couldn't drag Violet into it. Even Adeline wouldn't want to involve her friends. That's why Bennett didn't file a lawsuit against Molly.

"I will," Jasper said and looked at Bennett's face seriously. "I promise."
