Chapter 9 Telling Stories

"It was her," Molly pouted, "As soon as she entered, she claimed that Lauren had offended her, and she slapped Lauren without giving me a chance to stop her."

After speaking, she even made a sympathetic gesture, crouched down, and reached out to touch Lauren's face, "Does it hurt?"

Lauren gave her a hostile glance and slapped away her hand from Jasper's embrace. She darted out and ran to Adeline, grabbing onto her finger, asking, "Are you... are you alright?"

Adeline straightened her sore back from the kick and replied, "I'm fine."

That kick from Molly was full force. She had old injuries from a car accident five years ago, and that kick nearly left her unable to stand up.

Lauren also knew this. She anxiously held onto Adeline's finger and settled her down on one side of the couch, "Does it hurt?"

The caring voice and attitude of the little girl made Jasper furrow his brows lightly.

"Molly, are you saying that Lauren was the one who hit Lauren?" Jasper's fingers quietly clenched into a fist by his side.

She hadn't expected the illegitimate child to care for a maid to such an extent.

"I'm also puzzled. Why would she hit Lauren and still treat her kindly?" Molly pursed her lips. "Maybe Lauren thinks that as long as she treats the maid well and doesn't admit to hitting her, she can blame the slap on me and make you have a negative opinion of me."

After speaking, a few tears rolled down her cheeks and went on, "Anyway, there were only the three of us present earlier. If this maid doesn't admit it and Lauren doesn't admit it, no matter how hard I try to explain, nobody will believe me."

The woman's words made Lauren widen her eyes.

"It was you who hit me!"

She had been living well and protected in a foreign country and had never encountered such a skilled liar!

"You say it was, then it was. I can't argue with a little girl like you," Molly squinted her eyes and coldly stared at Lauren.

This woman was even more composed than she had imagined.

Clearly, it was Molly who hit Lauren, but now she was posing as a reluctant victim!

"Lauren, I'm sorry," Molly sniffed and her voice was filled with grievance, "Even though I didn't hit you, if you want me to bow down to you, I'll still do it."

Lauren was shocked, her watery eyes wide open, "You clearly hit me!"

"Well, in that case," Molly raised her hand and gently slapped her own face, "Then it was me who slapped you."

"You said I hit you, and now I've hit myself as well, so we're even."

After speaking, she wiped away a tear, "Lauren, can we stop here with this matter? Don't use these trivial things to trouble your father anymore."

Lauren was so angry that her small body began to tremble!

How could this woman be like this!

Clearly, she was the one who hit her. Her face still hurt, and now this woman was making it seem like she was making a fuss for no reason!

The little girl bit her lip in grievance and couldn't control the tears that welled up in her eyes anymore.

"You're a bad person! You're the one who hit me! And you're blaming Auntie. You're the worst person!"

Lauren cried, her small body trembling.

After all, she was only six years old. How could she possibly outsmart the cunning Molly?

Adeline pursed her lips and lifted Lauren into her arms, gently comforting her, "Miss Collins, did you just say that I hit Miss Lauren?"

Molly turned away, "I said, let's just let this matter go. I've already apologized, and I won't pursue it further. Don't bring it up again, so Lauren won't be hurt again."

The woman holding Lauren smiled faintly and asked, "But what if I insist on bringing it up?"

Jasper sat on the couch, his gaze coldly sweeping across Adeline's face.

The woman smiled, released Lauren, and took out a recording pen from her pocket.

Molly's face instantly turned pale!

A hint of fear flashed in her eyes, and she instinctively wanted to rush forward and snatch the recording pen away!

Adeline calmly evaded her, held the recording pen between her fingers, calmly turned it off, and adjusted it to the moment just after she entered the door.

"It was me who hit her."

"Want to take it out on this illegitimate child?"

"Can't you hit someone younger?"

"Who told this little slut to claim fathers everywhere? She deserves it!"

The woman's cold and arrogant voice came through clearly from the recording pen.

Molly stood in place, her face gloomy.

After the recording finished playing, Adeline calmly put the recording pen back in her pocket and asked, "Miss Collins, with testimonies and evidence, are you still insisting that I hit Miss Lauren?"

After speaking, she lowered her head and carefully examined the palm print on Lauren's face, feeling heartache in her heart.

She bit her lip. "This slap was quite powerful. You can clearly see the outline of the palm."

"Miss Collins, would you like to compare it to the palm print on Miss Lauren's face with me?"

Molly was completely speechless.

She bit her lip and turned around anxiously. "Jasper, I..."

Behind her, the tall and imposing man still sat elegantly on the couch.

But his aura was colder, heavier.

Like an iceberg that had been silent for thousands of years, ready to engulf anyone at any moment.

"Mr. Foster should now know who hit Lauren."

Adeline took a deep breath and stood up, embracing the teary-eyed little girl in her arms, "Since it's not my responsibility anymore, I'll take Miss Lauren to administer some medicine."

With that, she carried Lauren and headed upstairs.

Jasper narrowed his eyes, watching the woman's figure, his gaze deep and mysterious.

"Jasper..." Molly gritted her teeth, "Actually, I..."

"Lauren is my daughter," The man's deep voice was icy and indifferent. "I don't know how she survived the past six years, but for her future, I will do everything in my power to give her a better life."

He glanced at Molly's swollen face from Adeline's slap, "Since the servant has struck back in defense of Lauren, I won't do anything to you either."

Molly's heart leaped with joy and she hurried to step forward, but before she could speak, she heard his chilling voice again.

"But from now on, you no longer need to come to Blue Bay."

Her heart sank to the bottom. She bit her lip in silence. "But Jasper, I am your supposed fiancée. You can't just ban me from seeing you!"

"You know it's only a supposed engagement." The man stood up, towering over her with a firm posture, facing away. "I agreed to this fake engagement with you because of Adeline. But now, you have hurt our child. I don't think she would allow you to see Lauren if she knew about today's incident."

Finishing his words, the man coldly went upstairs, "See the guest off."

"Miss Collins, please."

Molly gritted her teeth, staring fiercely in the direction where Adeline and Lauren had left upstairs.
