Chapter 759 How to Explain
The air in the cabin grew still.
Brandon furrowed his brow as he glanced at the half-plant left in the box.
Was this the herb meant to cure Zara?
He couldn't really remember.
When the herb was handed to him, he had only given it a glance before passing it on to Dennis.
Who had time to remember what it looked like?
"Of course, I remember."
Even though he didn't remember at all, Brandon smiled lightly, "This is the medicine I gave you for Mrs. Phoebe's illness. How could I forget?"
Brandon's words made Dennis smirk, "Mr. Torres, you have an excellent memory."
He then turned to look at Zara, who was leaning against the headboard.
Zara's face was pale.
She pressed her lips together, "Brandon, do you... remember?"
Brandon smiled, "Of course. I had my people go to another city to collect it. Of course, I remember."
Zara stared at the half-plant for a long moment before she couldn't help but speak, "But this isn't a medicinal herb. It's just a weed."
Zara's words brought silence back to the cabin.
Brandon glared at the weed in the box, his eyes nearly bulging out.
After a while, he looked up, maintaining a calm smile at Dennis, "I was just playing along with Dr. Gonzalez."
"Since Dr. Gonzalez wanted to test my memory this way."
"How could I not cooperate?"
His expression showed no panic as if he truly believed Dennis was joking, so he played along.
But his grip on the wheelchair's armrest betrayed him.
Adeline knew that Brandon's action meant he was nervous.
He didn't recognize the plant, contrary to what he claimed.
Adeline's eyes narrowed.
If Brandon didn't know what the Crag Root Herb looked like, how did he instruct his subordinates to find it, and how did they manage to get it right and deliver it to Dennis?
Could it be a coincidence that both Brandon and his subordinates were clueless but still got it right?
If it was that easy to find, why did Jasper fall off a cliff and still not find it?
All these doubts swirled in Adeline's mind.
"Since Mr. Torres has such a good memory and is willing to play along..."
Dennis smiled and pulled over the servant who was fumbling with his mask, yanking it off. "Mr. Torres, do you recognize him?"
Silence.
Dead silence.
Brandon squinted at Dennis, his gaze murderous.
From the moment the servant's face was revealed, Brandon knew something was wrong.
Sure enough.
Dennis had a reason for bringing this man here with the medicine box!
Since Dennis asked, he must already have evidence.
If Brandon denied knowing this servant, it would only make Adeline and Zara trust him even less.
Thinking of this, Brandon bit his lip and reluctantly admitted, "Of course, I know him."
"This man used to work for the Torres family, but I hadn't seen him for a while and thought he had gone back home. I didn't expect him to end up with Dr. Gonzalez."
He glanced at the servant and smiled, "You used to serve Randy in the Torres family, didn't you?"
The servant hesitated, then quickly nodded.
Brandon smiled knowingly, "Looks like I didn't remember wrong."
Fortunately, he had the foresight to transfer someone from Randy's room to Swan Villa.
Otherwise, today would have been hard to explain!
The conversation between the two men made Zara frown slightly.
"Dennis, what is this..."
Why bring a servant here and play a recognition game with Brandon?
Zara wasn't stupid. From the herb incident, she could tell Dennis was acting strange that day.
He seemed... to be targeting Brandon.
Strange.
Brandon had brought the herbs that saved Dennis from Jasper's trick.
Logically, their relationship shouldn't be too bad. Why was Dennis's attitude so poor today?
"I just want to clarify something."
Dennis sneered, reaching out to Jasper, who was wearing a mask.
Jasper silently handed him a phone.
Holding the phone, Dennis scrolled through the call and chat records while looking at Brandon. "This servant, who left the Torres family, disguised himself and worked at my Swan Villa."
"After I and Jasper's friend Jason, who delivered the herbs, had a call, he contacted the Torres family."
"The contacts became more frequent, almost every time I made a move, big or small, he would contact the Torres family."
Dennis's gaze turned icy as he looked at Brandon. "Mr. Torres, how do you explain this? Was this servant worried about the Torres family while working for me, so he frequently contacted them?"
"Or..."
Dennis's eyes sharpened, "Did the Torres family send him to spy on me?"
Dennis's words made Adeline's heart skip a beat.
Dennis's meaning was clear.
Combining Brandon's failure to recognize the herb and the Torres family placing a spy by Dennis's side... Adeline's face grew pale.
Just then, Brandon reached out to hold Adeline's hand.
Adeline, who had been worried about Jasper being discovered, had always gone along with Brandon's affectionate gestures.
But now, Adeline silently withdrew her hand.
Brandon's hand grasped at empty air.
Sitting in his wheelchair, Brandon's eyes grew darker.
He looked up, "Dr. Gonzalez, you have quite the sense of humor."
"Why would the Torres family send someone to spy on Dr. Gonzalez?"
"And..."
Brandon's gaze shifted to the servant, "He's Randy's man. I'm not very familiar with him."
He glanced at the servant, who had his head bowed, "Tell us, why did you keep contacting the Torres family that day?"
"Did someone from the Torres family arrange for you to report back?"
Brandon's voice was gentle but carried immense pressure.
The servant kept his head down, unable to speak for a long time.
Finally, he bit his lip and looked up, not daring to meet Brandon's eyes. "I... I kept contacting the Torres family that day because I had left something there."
"The Torres family butler wouldn't return my things, so I had to keep calling to urge them..."
"You're lying!"
Dennis frowned, "That's not what you said at Swan Villa!"
His usually calm face turned red with anger, "Fine, if you were just retrieving your things, why did you call every time I made a move?"
The servant kept his head down, speaking neither humbly nor arrogantly. "It was just a coincidence."
"Coincidence!" Dennis's chest heaved with anger. He was usually composed, and it had been a long time since anyone had made him this angry!
Brandon was truly ruthless!
Before this servant came here, he had admitted everything and even volunteered to come along.
But after seeing Brandon, a few words from him made the servant change his story completely!
Seeing Dennis so agitated, Jasper frowned and walked over, taking something else from the box and handing it to him.
Dennis saw it was the video Ryan had obtained that morning of the young couple!
He quickly took the phone and walked up to Brandon. "And what about this? How do you explain this?"
