Chapter 429 Blake Isn't as Important as Luna

Jasper's hand, which was covering her with a blanket, froze mid-air.

He frowned, then gently reached out and ruffled Luna's hair. "What are you even saying? You're already in rough shape. Having another kid would just make things worse."

Luna lowered her head, a flicker of unease in her eyes. She almost forgot that in front of Jasper, she was supposed to be a terminally ill patient.

She kept her head down, bit her lip, and whispered, "But Jasper, I really want to have a kid with you. So that when I'm gone, someone will remember me, and visit me every year."

Jasper squinted and chuckled softly. "Even without a kid, I'll remember you and visit you every year."

He stood up. "It's getting late. You should get some rest."

Luna watched him stand, her lips pressed tightly together. "Jasper, do you despise me?"

She bit her lip, tears silently falling. "You say you're willing to be with me through the end and promised to stay by my side. But do you actually hate and despise me like everyone else?"

Jasper squinted, turned his head, and looked at her coolly. "Why would you say that?"

"Because," Luna sniffled, her voice shaky. "We've been together for so long and you've never slept with me. I suggested having a kid with you, and you shot me down. You always said you had no feelings for Miss Wilson and weren't close when you got married. But Miss Wilson gave you three kids, and one was miscarried. You never rejected her, but you turned me down so quickly."

Jasper closed his eyes and let out a bitter laugh. "Luna, I promised to treat you well, and I won't go back on that. Technically, as your boyfriend, I could do those things with you. But you know your condition. Just being falsely accused by Lucia and the others of drugging Adeline made you so emotional it affected your health. Seeing Adeline get beaten at the fresh market made you so agitated you had trouble breathing and kept coughing. Sex is way more intense than those things. I'm not doing this for your health."

After saying that, he walked out without looking back.

Jasper said, "I'm not a good father; out of my four kids, two have already died because of me. So I don't plan to let any woman have my kids again in this lifetime. Sorry."

With that, Jasper closed the door to the ward.

Luna leaned against the hospital bed, listening to Jasper's footsteps fade away, biting her lower lip tightly.

Luna thought, 'I shouldn't have listened to Molly and pretended to be terminally ill! Even if I had to, I shouldn't have picked a disease that flares up with emotional stress! Now, when I want to sleep with Jasper, he has a valid reason to refuse me!'

Thinking of this, Luna gritted her teeth in frustration.

Luna muttered, "Even if I have to get Jasper drunk, I'll do it and have his kid! Otherwise, if my fake illness gets exposed one day, I'll have no leverage over Jasper!"

After leaving Luna's hospital room, Jasper walked briskly to the elevator.

As the elevator doors closed, Jasper closed his eyes, his face pale, and took out his phone. "Ryan."

On the other end of the line, Ryan heard Jasper's raspy voice and couldn't help but sigh. "Mr. Foster, I'm already waiting by the elevator upstairs. Don't worry."

Only then did Jasper breathe a sigh of relief, hang up the phone, and slump weakly against the elevator wall, slowly closing his eyes.

He had been out cold for three whole days. When he woke up, he didn't even let the doctor check him out before rushing to Emerald Crest Estate to find Luna.

He knew Luna had been holed up in her bedroom at Emerald Crest these past few days, not because her illness was getting worse, but because she didn't want to donate her bone marrow to Blake anymore.

After all, Luna donating bone marrow to Blake was a deal between him and Luna.

Luna might seem weak and totally dependent on him, but she kept track of every transaction like a hawk.

He had only been out for a few days, and Luna was already thinking of breaking their agreement and not donating her bone marrow to Blake.

Jasper knew that, but for Blake's sake, he had to suck it up, pretending he knew nothing and doing everything Luna wanted. Of course, this didn't include the kid she just mentioned.

The elevator doors opened.

"Mr. Foster!" Ryan, who was waiting by the elevator, saw Jasper leaning against the wall, looking like he was about to pass out.

Ryan's eyes widened.

Ryan thought, 'No way? Jasper had been out for three days, and now he just woke up and is about to pass out again?'

He didn't waste any time, calling for a stretcher and a doctor.

Luckily, Jasper was just severely exhausted and nothing serious.

"Let him get some good sleep," the doctor said after examining him. "He was out for three days, his body is still weak, but he rushed out as soon as he woke up, even carrying someone in. He really doesn't value his own life."

After giving a few more instructions, the doctor turned to leave.

After the doctor left, Ryan looked at Jasper and couldn't help but speak. "Mr. Foster, you should rest early."

Ryan looked up. "Tomorrow, both Blake and Ms. Jones have surgeries. Where will you go?"

Jasper closed his eyes, his voice barely a whisper. "I'll go to Luna's side."

Jasper thought, 'Blake has Adeline and Lauren. But Luna, in Radiance Springs, only knows me.'

Ryan hesitated several times before finally sighing and speaking, "What about Blake? Such a major surgery, won't you go see him?"

Jasper's voice was cold and devoid of warmth. "No way! Luna can't do without me."

Ryan sighed. "Then Blake and Adeline will misunderstand you."

Jasper smirked. "Let them."

Outside the door, Adeline, who had heard their conversation, silently lowered her hand that was about to knock.

She hadn't meant to eavesdrop.

She had been taking care of Jasper in the hospital room these past few days andleft in a hurry, forgettingsome things needed for Blake's surgery in Jasper's room.

Adeline initially thought Jasper would spend the night with Luna, so she took the elevator directly, intending to sneak in and grab what she needed while Jasper was unaware.

But unexpectedly, as soon as she got downstairs, she heard Jasper's cold and heartless words.

So Luna also had surgery tomorrow.

She didn't know what surgery Luna was having, but she knew that Jasper had directly refused to visit Blake. In his heart, Blake was not as important as Luna.
