Chapter 186 Two Children Without Shelter

Linda's slap was heavy.
Adeline shockedly covered her face and turned to look at her.
Linda crossed her arms and sneered at her, "I didn't expect you actually to dare to come!"
She stared at Adeline, her eyes filled with disdain. "In Denver, you seduced someone else's husband, caused them to divorce, and now you dare to come to Las Vegas and act arrogant!"
Linda's voice was loud, attracting the attention of people around them instinctively gathering around.
The more people there were, the more obnoxious Linda became, saying things like, "Do you even dare to come to a place like this?"
"Are you aware that Stella is a Las Vegas native? She has a strong support system in Las Vegas!"
Although Jasper was well-known in Denver, only a few people in Las Vegas knew him.
As soon as they heard Linda's words, everyone started discussing:
"She looks so beautiful, it turns out she's a mistress..."
"She's even ruining other people's families..."
"She deserves it!"
...
The voices of the people around made Adeline furrow her brows tightly.
Although she and Linda were high school classmates, their relationship was not good.
After Adeline went to college in Denver, they completely lost touch.
Suddenly, why did Linda start to care so much about this classmate she hadn't been in contact with for more than ten years?
Seeing that Adeline remained silent with her face covered, Linda became even more obnoxious.
She raised her hand, intending to slap Adeline again.
But her hand was caught by someone.
The person holding her hand was Adeline, whom she had intended to slap.
Adeline firmly held Linda's hand and said coldly, "Linda, you cannot spread rumors. Don't you remember the fight you got into with the students from the other class in high school because you believed the rumors?"
Linda froze for a moment.
In high school, she did indeed get into a fight with students from the other class because she heard a rumor.
In the end, she sent one of the students to the hospital, only to realize it was a misunderstanding caused by rumors.
But how did this woman in front of her know all this?
Seeing Linda in a daze, Adeline let go of her hand with a faint smile and said calmly, "If you don't understand the facts, don't make hasty judgments. You should understand this principle, right?"
Adeline looked at her sharply, her voice cold and arrogant.
For a moment, Linda was so stunned that she couldn't speak.
After a while, she blushed and tried to argue, "Yes, I don't know what you've been doing in Denver. But tonight's party, the Quinn family's invitation, clearly stated that it was for Mr. Foster and Mrs. Foster. Who gives you the right to be here?"
Linda's words caused the crowd to become noisy again.
Everyone started whispering among themselves.
"Since the Quinn family invited Mr. Foster and Mrs. Foster..."
"What right did this woman have to be here?"
"It must be because you have no shame. You think you're Jasper's wife, so you came here," Linda said. So I slapped you and kicked you out. Do you have any problem with that?"
With a calm expression, Adeline looked at Linda's defiant demeanor and smiled.
Adeline took out an invitation and said, "Miss Taylor, you may not know, but I am a designer for the jewelry company under the Foster Group."
"I came to the Quinn family's party for business. Do I need to be judged by you?"
"No way!"
Linda snorted and grabbed Adeline, walking quickly to the bulletin board at the entrance of the venue.
She pointed at the bulletin board in front of them, saying, "Take a look!"
"They only invited Mr. Foster and Mrs. Foster; your name is not on there!"
"You are shameless!"
Adeline frowned and glanced at the list.
Indeed.
The list only had Mr. Foster and Mrs. Foster; her name was not included.
Her expression slightly changed.
If she remembered correctly, Evelyn prepared this list.
During lunch, Evelyn specifically asked for her name, saying she wanted to write the invitation.
But now...
"Don't you have anything to say!?"
Linda looked at her arrogantly and sneered, "You're just a mistress trying to steal someone else's husband!"
"Not to mention that they haven't even divorced yet; even if they do, you won't have a chance!"
After speaking, she immediately signaled the security guard, "Kick her out for me!"
"Wait."
Just as Linda finished speaking, Adeline coldly chuckled.
She glanced at Linda and said, "Although, according to the rules, I shouldn't be here since I'm not on the guest list."
"But Miss Taylor, this is the Quinn family's party."
"Is your last name Quinn?"
Linda was stumped.
Adeline continued, "Even if you really want to kick me out, it should be someone from the Quinn family who does it, right?"
Linda's expression became embarrassed.
Coincidentally, Evelyn and Stella passed by at that moment.
Linda noticed them and quickly rushed over, grabbing Evelyn's arm, "Miss Quinn, this woman wasn't invited; she forced her way into the party!"
Evelyn stopped.
Stella, who was beside her, also stopped.
Stella, in a purple dress, raised her eyes and looked shocked, "Miss Wilson?"
"Why did you..."
Before she could finish her sentence, her eyes instantly turned red. "I knew I shouldn't have come..."
"Although Jasper and I are still married, it seems like his heart only has you..."
She sniffled and placed her wine glass down, slowly walking up to Adeline. She gently bowed to Adeline and said, "I'm sorry."
"I only saw that the Quinn family had invited Mr. Foster and Mrs. Foster, so as Jasper's legal wife, I thought they were inviting me..."
"I didn't mean to make you all unhappy."
After saying that, she wiped away a tear and glanced at Linda beside her. "Linda, don't blame Miss Wilson. It was me who arrogantly assumed that I was still Jasper's wife..."
"You shouldn't drive Miss Wilson away. It should be me!"
After saying that, she walked away.
Seeing Stella's tearful eyes, Linda felt sorry for her.
She grabbed Stella's hand and stared fiercely at Adeline. "This is unfair!"
"Are mistresses so audacious these days!?"
The voices around them grew louder.
"Adeline, you are too audacious. Mistresses can be so bold now."
"I feel so bad for Mrs. Foster. She's so humble. The legitimate wife shouldn't apologize to the mistress..."
"It's this mistress who should leave!"
...
Along with the surrounding chatter, there was deliberate jostling and shoving.
Adeline stood there, silently clutching her fists.
She turned and looked at Evelyn in silence. "Miss Quinn, what is going on?"
Adeline took out the invitation from her bag. "This was what you gave to me at noon, and you specifically asked for my name to write on the guest list."
"But how did it end up that I barged in myself?"
Evelyn was taken aback.
After a moment, she smiled awkwardly. "Well... maybe there was a mistake in the transferring of the list..."
She sighed. "The list can't be changed now, Miss Wilson. Don't mind too much, and continue to stay."
"No."
Adeline refused.
She was sure that Stella and Evelyn had planned everything tonight together.
They wanted to embarrass her.
Linda was just a pawn for the two of them.
So she took a deep breath and took out the invitation in front of Evelyn, tearing it into pieces.
"Since the Quinn family specifically asked for my name, yet still disrespect me like this."
"I don't need to continue staying at this party."
She threw the shredded pieces of the invitation into the air. "I have witnessed how the Quinn family, the largest family in Las Vegas, treats their guests!"
The people around gasped.
She tore up the invitation given by the Quinn family at their party and openly accused them of mistreating their guests!
She had quite the audacity!
Adeline coldly snorted and turned away.
But before she could take a few steps, she was stopped by two bodyguards.
A cold and stern voice came from behind, "Do you know what the consequences are for speaking to the Quinn family like this?"
