Chapter 836 Waking Up Is Not a Problem

Adeline raised an eyebrow. A guest? A stranger?

She knew almost everyone in Oceancrest City, and nearly all of them had visited her little courtyard.

Who could it be that she hadn't met yet?

With a heart full of curiosity, Adeline stepped out of her room.

The servant wasn't wrong. This visitor was indeed someone she hadn't seen before.

A man in army green cargo pants and a white shirt stood in the middle of the courtyard, his back to Adeline, staring at the pine tree.

He was tall and lean, with slightly long hair tied back, exuding an air of refined artistry.

Hearing the door open and footsteps behind him, the man turned around, a faint smile on his lips.

"Adeline."

"Long time no see."

Adeline almost doubted her eyes.

She stared blankly at the man in front of her. "Sebastian?"

Seeing her shocked expression, Sebastian smiled gently and walked towards her with open arms.

"Surprised to see me?"

Adeline couldn't control her emotions and rushed to hug him. "What are you doing here?"

"I should have come a long time ago."

Sebastian sighed, not lingering in the hug for too long. He gently pushed her away and softly ruffled her hair.

"I've known about your situation for a while."

"I originally planned to come over a month ago to stay with you and protect you, to help you through the pregnancy. But something came up, and I got delayed. I'm here now."

He sighed again, his voice still as gentle as ever.

"How are you doing now?"

Adeline bit her lip and nodded vigorously. "I'm fine, really fine!"

Seeing her clumsy nodding, Sebastian felt a pang in his heart.

Before coming here, he had visited Oscar.

Although Oscar lived in Everglade City, which was right next to Oceancrest City, he knew quite a bit about the Phoebe, Torres, and Foster families' affairs, which had caused quite a stir.

He was aware of everything that had happened to Adeline recently.

Especially what happened last night.

Thinking about it, he sighed. "Actually, Adeline, I brought you a special gift this time."

Adeline gave him a helpless look. "Do we need gifts when we meet?"

"Your visit is the best gift."

Sebastian smiled and called out towards the gate.

"Come on out."

Adeline frowned and instinctively looked in the direction he was calling.

Soon, a slender figure appeared at the gate.

It was a woman who looked to be in her thirties, elegant and tall.

She wore a white outfit and carried a medical bag, clearly a doctor.

The woman walked towards Adeline and stopped in front of her.

"Adeline, hello. I'm Dr. Clio Ross."

Adeline quickly extended her hand to shake Clio's. "Hello."

"I heard you have a family member in a vegetative state?"

After shaking hands, Clio tucked a loose strand of hair behind her ear and spoke calmly. "I'm not from Oceancrest City and never travel for house calls."

"But Sebastian stood outside my house for over a month, insisting that you were very important to him and that I had to come help."

She glanced at Sebastian. "Seeing how much he cares about you, I agreed to come."

She looked around the courtyard and pointed to a nearby building.

"Is the patient in there?"

Adeline nodded quickly and led the way.

Sebastian and Clio followed her. As they walked, Sebastian asked, "Dr. Ross, how did you know the patient was there?"

Clio chuckled. "Didn't you say your friend is kind and filial?"

"This building is separate from the main house, quiet, and well-lit, perfect for a patient in a vegetative state."

"If she's filial, she would definitely place her mother here."

Sebastian paused and silently gave Clio a thumbs-up.

He felt a wave of emotion.

Adeline was still the same—kind and gentle.

In fact, from the time she returned to the Phoebe family to Zara's coma, they had spent less than a month together.

Yet Adeline was so devoted to her.

Soon, Adeline led Clio into Zara's room.

She handed Zara's medical records and recent health updates to Clio, smiling. "Dr. Ross, have you treated patients in a vegetative state before?"

"Yes."

Sebastian quickly nodded. "When I found out your mother was in a vegetative state, I actively searched for cases where patients had woken up."

"I personally visited each case."

"Out of the 50 cases worldwide where patients woke up, nearly half were Dr. Ross's patients."

"That's why I sought her out."

Adeline's jaw dropped in shock. "I didn't know there was a doctor like Dr. Ross!"

Clio flipped through the records, frowning. "I'm not a miracle worker, just more experienced than most doctors."

She glanced at Adeline. "What have you been doing since your mother fell ill?"

Adeline hesitated, but before she could speak, Sebastian interjected.

"She was pregnant and just gave birth last month, but the baby didn't survive."

Clio glanced at Adeline again, frowning. "That explains it."

She continued reviewing the records and spoke.

"I'm from Everglade City, right next to Oceancrest City."

"And I'm quite well-known worldwide for treating vegetative patients."

"I was wondering why, if you're so filial, you never sought me out. Now I understand—you were pregnant and didn't have the energy to find me."

Her words made Adeline freeze.

For the past nine months, she had constantly reminded Howard to find good doctors for Zara.

She always believed Zara could wake up.

Over the past six months, Howard occasionally sent doctors, but none could help Zara.

Adeline thought Zara might be beyond help.

But now she realized.

A doctor like Clio had been living next door in Everglade City, and the Phoebe family had never contacted her!

She bit her lip, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.

After a moment, she looked up at Clio. "Dr. Ross, can my mother be saved?"

"Of course."

Clio put down the records and efficiently checked Zara's condition.

"With my treatment, waking up won't be a problem."
