Chapter 594 Try It If You Don't Believe Me
Molly got hustled in by Nathan's crew.
She wiped her tears and slowly made her way to the stage, surrounded by the crowd. She was still in the white outfit from the video shoot, and her tearful expression reminded everyone of her pitiful state, begging Adeline and Jasper to let her go.
The crowd sighed in sympathy.
Adeline stood still, watching Molly being escorted in, feeling like her heart was being squeezed by an invisible hand.
Before today's ceremony, she had actually anticipated Molly's appearance.
So she took every precaution, including strict security at the entrance and thorough checks on every staff member. She thought the stricter her management, the more desperate Molly would be to come in and cause trouble.
But she hadn't expected to be kidnapped by Rex, which led to her meeting Bennett and eventually inviting him.
Consequently, Bennett took the invitation and entered the ceremony openly, bringing in the fabricated video that slandered her and Jasper. Moreover, due to Nathan's momentary excitement, he directly invited her in.
Adeline felt it was ironic. She had taken all the precautions. In the end, Molly was openly invited in by her own people.
"Adeline" Molly stopped when she reached Adeline. She looked up at Adeline, her eyes still swollen. "I have a gift for you."
With that, she took out a small box from her bag and handed it to Adeline with both hands. "You must open it."
Adeline frowned and didn't move. She wasn't Molly's sister, and she didn't want to accept Molly's gift!
"Adeline, it's your engagement day. Won't you accept a gift from me?"
Molly took a deep breath, and tears fell uncontrollably again. "Adeline, I truly came to wish you all the best."
"For all the things you and Jasper did to me, including the city-wide search for Liam and me," Molly added. "I can let it go. If I held a grudge, I wouldn't be here at your engagement."
Molly's words once again caused the people around to start whispering, which made Adeline's expression very unpleasant.
She knew Molly was lying.
But she couldn't expose her; she had no evidence.
If she spoke out, it would just turn into a pointless argument.
Now, in Bennett's eyes, Molly was his biological mother. Arguing with Molly here would make Bennett misunderstand her even more.
At this moment, Molly looked up, her eyes filled with tears. "Adeline, I prepared this gift a long time ago. If you don't take it. I'll have to let Sebastian throw it away."
Her words made Adeline's body stiffen. Molly was hinting that if she didn't comply, she would harm Sebastian!
Adeline bit her lip, finally suppressing her emotions, and walked over.
The box Molly gave her was very light, seemingly containing only a few pieces of paper.
After handing the box to Adeline, Molly smiled at her. "Adeline, you gotta open it right here. It's got a keepsake from me and a letter I wrote to you. If you don't check it out, you might regret it later."
With that, she turned and kept walking towards the center of the stage.
Adeline stood there, gripping the box tightly.
Some folks around her leaned in, trying to peek inside the box.
She frowned and walked over to Blake and Lauren.
They got the hint and immediately flanked her to give her some cover.
When Adeline opened the box, she saw Molly on the stage, giving her a sly smile.
She bit her lip hard and opened the box.
Her gut feeling was right.
The box had stuff about Sebastian.
There were several photos of Sebastian and Bennett. Some showed them lying in a pool of blood at the explosion site. Others showed them on hospital beds, pale and unconscious.
Bennett was kneeling on the ground, holding his head in pain.
In front of him were a few pieces of paper, with the word "Bennett" scrawled on them.
There was also a handwritten note from Molly on the photo: [This is him trying hard to regain his memory.]
Adeline's pupils contracted sharply as she instinctively glanced at Bennett on the stage, who was standing quietly and obediently next to Molly.
Adeline gritted her teeth.
Bennett always said he liked his name. She thought he genuinely liked the name, even if he had lost his memory. But what she didn't expect was that, despite his memory loss, the first thing he remembered was the name she gave him.
Adeline's heart ached intensely. She took a deep breath and continued looking at the photos.
One after another, they all showed Bennett in pain.
Later, the photos showed Sebastian, his face covered in blood, tied up in a dark basement.
One after another, they were shocking.
Adeline's hands trembled violently as she held the photos.
Sebastian was a genius painter!
But now, the dirty man in the photos bore no resemblance to the painter he once was.
After flipping through all the photos, there was a letter at the end.
Adeline opened the letter.
It was written in Molly's handwriting: [Adeline, as you can see, these two people are now in my hands. You know very well how much it hurt when Luna had someone smash your fingers. Sebastian is a painter. Without his fingers, his life is ruined. I now demand that you do whatever I say next. Otherwise, I will break one of Sebastian's fingers every day. When all ten of his fingers are broken, I will start on Bennett. Try me if you don't believe it.]
These words made Adeline clench her teeth tightly.
She looked up angrily, meeting Molly's smiling eyes.
"Since my sister has seen my gift." Molly stood on the stage, smiling gently and brightly. "Then I want to give my sister my blessing."
She looked at Adeline's face and said deliberately, "I want to congratulate my sister Adeline on her engagement to Rex from the Foster family today."
