Chapter 890 You Dare to Come Back
Facing Adeline's fury, Tamsin stayed completely calm.
Long before Adeline returned to Oceancrest City, Tamsin had already come up with an explanation for this situation.
Seeing Adeline so angry, she sighed, walked over, and gently took Adeline's hand.
"Hey, don't get mad. Let me explain."
Adeline coldly shook off her hand and instinctively took a step back.
"Alright, I'm listening."
Tamsin took a deep breath.
"It's not that I didn't care about what happened to you. I was just worried your acting wouldn't be convincing enough and would tip them off, so I didn't tell you what kind of event last night's party was."
"As for you saying we ignored your call for help..."
Tamsin sighed again.
"Did you notice that no one was using their phones at the party last night?"
"The reason is that Hugo used signal jamming equipment in the private room."
"Even though we had the best communication devices, we could only maintain brief contact at first. After that, the signal was completely blocked."
"We tried to reach you, but we couldn't get through no matter what."
"Later, I went to the private room myself to find you, but you were already gone."
Her words made Adeline pause slightly.
Last night, she had drunk spiked wine and her mind was foggy.
No matter how hard she tried to recall, she couldn't remember if anyone was using their phones.
It seemed... no one was.
Seeing Adeline's attitude soften a bit, Tamsin looked at her with concern.
"Think carefully, did Jasper take your purse when he took you away?"
"If I hadn't gone to the private room to find you, how could I have gotten your purse and those recordings?"
Finally, she stepped forward again, sincerely taking Adeline's hand.
"I admit I made a mistake last night by not giving you the best communication equipment."
"Don't worry, I won't let you take such risks again!"
Even if Adeline wanted to, she wouldn't have the chance.
Feeling Tamsin's sincerity and the warmth from her palm, Adeline bit her lip, her anger almost completely dissipated.
Just as she was about to say something, a cold male voice echoed from the far end of the hallway.
"Adeline!"
It was Oliver's voice.
Tamsin's face instantly turned pale.
She let go of Adeline's hand and, without saying another word, ran to hide on the staircase of the next floor.
As soon as Tamsin hid, the stairwell door was pushed open.
Oliver walked in and grabbed Adeline's arm.
"What are you doing here?"
"Who were you talking to?"
Adeline quickly shook her head, "No one."
"I was on the phone with Sebastian, discussing visiting Linda."
Seeing her pale face, Oliver sighed.
"The things you've been doing lately, Tamsin has been helping you, right?"
Adeline hesitated, instinctively glancing in Tamsin's direction, but ultimately denied it.
"No, I..."
"Don't lie to me, Daisy told me everything."
Taking a deep breath, Oliver patted Adeline's shoulder.
"She's not a good person. Don't be fooled by her."
"Last night's events may seem like you and she successfully got leverage on Hugo and made him sign with the Phoebe Group."
"But in reality?"
He looked at her, his eyes serious.
"In reality, you've lost your standing to attend private gatherings in high society and build good relationships."
"Everyone will soon know you brought a recorder and a hidden camera. From now on, people will be wary of you at any event."
Adeline was stunned.
After a long pause, she lowered her head, finally realizing the gravity of the situation.
Everyone has their vulnerabilities and secrets.
And these are only revealed to true friends.
Bringing a camera and recorder to a private gathering is indeed taboo.
It's like visiting a friend's studio and deliberately taking pictures of their designs—it's despicable.
But Adeline had never done business before and never considered the consequences.
Now, with Oliver's words, it was like a wake-up call. She instantly understood what she had lost while completing Hugo's order.
She might even affect Oliver and others in the Phoebe Group.
When they attend private gatherings, people will likely bring up what Adeline did.
Thinking of this, Adeline felt a chill down her spine.
"I'm sorry, Oliver, I..."
"I didn't realize doing this would..."
"It's not your fault."
Seeing her guilt, Oliver reached out and ruffled her hair.
"You didn't know any better, it's not your fault."
"The fault lies with the person scheming behind your back."
After saying this, he looked at Adeline seriously again.
"Since you can contact Tamsin, next time you do, tell her directly."
"It was me who abandoned her. If she wants revenge or reconciliation, she should come to me, not use you."
Adeline frowned, about to say something when her phone rang. It was Sebastian.
She quickly answered.
On the other end, Sebastian's anxious voice came through.
"Adeline, I'm downstairs at the signing ceremony. Hurry up."
"I was worried about Linda and called Ryan."
"Ryan said David is back and they're arguing in Linda's room!"
Sebastian's words made Adeline's face change instantly!
She had come to the signing ceremony first because she confirmed Linda's condition was stable.
But now David was back and arguing with Linda?
Linda's health couldn't handle David's temper!
Thinking of this, she quickly hung up, said goodbye to Oliver, and hurried away.
On the staircase above, Tamsin was hiding, listening to the sounds below.
Once she was sure Adeline and Oliver had left, she let out a long breath and patted her chest.
Thank goodness.
She was really afraid Adeline would impulsively reveal her location to Oliver!
She wasn't ready to face Oliver yet.
Taking a deep breath, she stood up on her numb legs and started to walk away.
But after just a few steps, the stairwell door opened.
In front of her were Oliver's cold eyes.
He looked at the heavily disguised Tamsin.
"Long time no see."
Tamsin's eyes widened instantly.
She turned and ran.
But after just a few steps, Oliver grabbed her wrist.
With a thud, he pinned her against the wall.
His hand gripped her throat, his cold smile growing, eyes filled with hatred.
"Tamsin, I never thought you'd dare come back."
