Chapter 530 He Still Sent You In
Jasper let out a heavy sigh and looked at the two kids standing in front of him.
For Adeline, they refused to eat or drink late at night, just to defy him.
Jasper knew if he didn't give them an answer tonight, they wouldn't back down.
"Jasper, say something!" Lily, sitting next to him, was so anxious she was sweating and coughing non-stop.
Blake and Lauren hadn't had a bite or a sip for thirteen hours!
Jasper sighed again. Reluctantly, he promised, "If you eat now, I'll take you to see Adeline tomorrow."
Lauren turned to exchange a look with Blake.
Even though Blake hadn't known Jasper for long, he knew Jasper was a man of his word in business. Jasper had already compromised a lot in such a short time.
They couldn't push it too far. If they made Jasper mad, they might not get to see their mom at all.
Blake and Lauren exchanged glances and then climbed onto their chairs, starting to eat like they hadn't seen food in days.
They were really starving after thirteen hours without food or water!
"See? Kids are easy to deal with. Why do you have to make it so hard?" Lily sighed, watching Blake and Lauren eat.
But Jasper's frown deepened. Blake and Lauren weren't as easy to handle as they seemed.
The next day.
Adeline woke up early to the sound of a nurse scolding someone.
Wearing a hospital gown, Adeline grabbed the bread and veggies tossed in from the door, leaned against it, and ate while staring at the sky through the small window.
It was a sunny day.
On a day like this, Lauren would probably be in a little dress, dragging Blake to play in the garden. Blake would sit under the parasol with his computer, watching Lauren run around on the grass.
Adeline closed her eyes and sighed.
Maybe losing her freedom and dignity here made her miss her kids even more?
Since last night, every time she closed her eyes, thoughts of her three kids flooded her mind.
Breakfast was over soon.
Adeline had just placed the empty bowl in the hallway through the gap under the door when she heard someone outside calling for treatment.
Adeline closed her eyes in despair, thinking she would have to endure the inhumane torture again today. But after waiting for a long time, no nurse came to her.
Just when Adeline was puzzled, her room door opened.
A person in a white coat and mask, all wrapped up, walked in.
He glanced coldly at the nurse. "Is it this woman?"
The nurse nodded. "Yes, it's her."
The person walked over and said coldly, "The employer said your fingers are very beautiful."
As Adeline was shocked, the man sneered and slowly approached.
Adeline didn't know how long it had been when she woke up from the pain.
Her left pinky finger hung limply, with excruciating pain radiating from it. Adeline was in so much pain that she was barely conscious.
No matter how hard Adeline tried, she couldn't figure out who would still torment her even after she was stuck in a mental hospital.
The only thing she remembered was when she was carried out of Blue Bay on a stretcher yesterday, Jasper had told the head nurse, "Remember to bandage her hand. Her hands are quite beautiful; don't leave a scar."
Adeline closed her eyes, Jasper's words mingling with Luna's spiteful glare in her mind.
She smiled bitterly. Even in her current state, would she still provoke Luna because of Jasper's words? The intense pain left her no time to think. It hurt so much.
Adeline developed a high fever.
It wasn't until after lunch that two nurses came, gave her some fever medicine, and washed her face with cold water. "Get up! Someone wants to see you!"
After a quick bandage job, Adeline was dragged out of the room.
It was still the same visiting room, like a prison visit. In the past, when Adeline came, she was on the other side.
Sitting behind the iron bars, Adeline looked up at the woman sitting outside. "It's you?"
The woman opposite smiled, elegantly tucking her hair behind her ear, her red lips parting slightly. "Of course, it's me, my dear sister."
Sitting on the chair outside, Molly smiled elegantly. "You've been looking for me for so long, and now I've finally come to see you. Aren't you happy?"
It had been a long time since they last met, and Molly seemed to be doing better than before. Molly was dressed in designer clothes, with chestnut hair and seductive red lips. While Adeline, sitting behind the iron bars, looked as disheveled as a madwoman from the slums.
"So it was you." Adeline closed her eyes and sneered.
Since the day Bennett appeared and claimed she had a mental illness, Adeline had vaguely guessed that it was Molly who arranged for her to be in the mental hospital.
Jasper had once arranged for Molly to be here. So now, Molly was back for revenge.
"You figured it was me a long time ago, didn't you?" Molly smirked arrogantly. "So, how do you like everything I've arranged for you?"
Then, Molly's gaze fell on Adeline's tightly bandaged left pinky finger.
Molly pretended to be shocked and covered her mouth. "Adeline, your hands used to be so beautiful. What happened?"
Adeline stared at Molly. "What exactly do you want to say?"
"I just wanted to tell you," Molly smirked. "You're no match for me."
Molly elegantly lowered her head, playing with her diamond-studded nails. "You weren't my match six years ago, and you still aren't now."
Molly's voice was as cold as the wind in deep winter. "You're locked up in this horrible place, just as miserable as I was back then."
Molly's gaze fell on Adeline. Molly smirked. "So, even if Jasper likes you and protects you, what does it matter? You were still sent here by him."
