Chapter 509 You Got Half of It Right
"What the heck are you talking about?" Jasper shot Luna a glare.
He knew Luna didn't have much time left, and that made him even more determined she shouldn't be saying such gloomy stuff.
After a moment, Jasper let out a deep sigh. "If you really want Adeline to come over, I won't stop you."
Luna bit her lip silently at Jasper's words. "But Jasper, I need your help."
Jasper frowned. "My help?"
Luna walked over, gently shaking his arm. "You know the beef between Adeline and me. If I reach out, she'll think I have some hidden agenda and just say no. Plus, I want to apologize in person and surprise her to show I'm sincere."
Luna sighed. "Getting Adeline to come over might need you to handle it, Jasper."
She blinked her innocent eyes at him. "Jasper, you wouldn't turn me down, would you?"
Jasper frowned, remembering the look of hatred in Adeline's eyes when he left the beach last night.
A trace of sadness crossed his face. He really didn't want to take on this thankless task.
But if Adeline could come over and make peace with Luna, it would be a good thing.
Adeline's illness hadn't been diagnosed yet. If it turned out to be serious, the kids might need to stay at Emerald Crest Estate for a while.
During that time, Adeline couldn't avoid visiting the kids.
Rather than letting the conflict between Luna and Adeline get worse, making it hard for Adeline to see the kids later, it would be better to have them reconcile quickly.
That way, when Adeline came to see the kids in the future, neither she nor Luna would feel awkward.
Thinking of this, Jasper nodded reluctantly. "I'll give it a shot."
"Awesome!" Luna hugged his arm excitedly. "Jasper, I knew you'd agree! You're the best!"
Her excitement made Jasper smile despite himself. "It's rare to see you this happy."
"I really want to fix things with Adeline." Luna smiled at him. "This way, you and the kids won't be stuck in the middle."
She then lowered her head and leaned into his chest. "Even though I know you don't have feelings for me, we're still a couple now. It's only right for me to think about your feelings."
Jasper responded with silence.
Luna, leaning against his chest, narrowed her eyes dangerously.
She had deliberately mentioned in front of him that she knew he didn't have feelings for her.
Because last night, when she was talking about her conflict with Violet, she had emphasized this point.
At that time, Jasper was also silent.
Silence meant agreement. It meant that Jasper didn't have feelings for Luna.
Luna wasn't convinced, so she said it again today.
And again, Jasper was silent.
This proved that despite their time together, Jasper still didn't like her or hold her in his heart.
Luna bit her lip, the light in her eyes gradually turning venomous.
It seemed Molly was right. All her efforts had been for nothing! No matter how hard she tried, she couldn't compare to Adeline in Jasper's heart. His heart was only for Adeline, his eyes, too. Everything Jasper did was for Adeline. Why should a good man like Jasper be so hung up on a woman like Adeline?
Luna clenched her fists silently.
Tonight, she would make Jasper see with his own eyes that the woman he loved most would personally harm his most respected grandmother!
By then, Luna wanted to see how Jasper would choose when the two women he valued most had a conflict!
At ten in the morning, the sun was just right.
Adeline, in a good mood, moved her easel and paints from the villa to the small pavilion in the back garden to paint.
At that moment, her phone rang.
It was Lucia calling.
"Adeline." Lucia's voice on the other end of the line sounded a bit troubled. "I know you agreed with Jasper that after this competition, you wouldn't come back to work at the company. But you know the award-winning series from our department has a lot of viewers eagerly waiting for its release. And Jasper mentioned wanting to profit from this series."
Lucia took a deep breath. "Jasper just had a meeting with us, saying he wanted to know more about the theme of this jewelry series. I tried to explain with the materials you left behind, but I couldn't answer some of Jasper's questions because I'm not you. I don't know your thought process when you designed these."
Holding the phone, Adeline listened to Lucia's troubled voice and suddenly understood why she was calling. "You want me to come back and explain the parts you couldn't to Jasper?"
"Yes!" Lucia nodded quickly. "That's exactly it! Can you do that?"
Adeline smiled. "Of course."
As she packed up her easel and paints, she smiled. "This theme series was part of my agreement with Jasper. I should help him get these pieces to market. It was my oversight not to consider that there might be follow-up issues. I'm heading over now."
After hanging up, Adeline got up.
Walking into the villa, she changed clothes while instructing Alice, "Bring back my things from the pavilion in the back garden. I probably won't be back to paint today."
Alice nodded quickly. "When will you be back? What would you like for dinner?"
Alice knew that Adeline had been in a bad mood since Blake and Lauren left and she was trying to cheer Adeline up.
Seeing Alice's concerned look, Adeline chuckled. "No need to prepare dinner for me tonight. I have plans."
Alice paused, then couldn't help but ask, "Still with Violet and her boyfriend? Miss Wilson, why don't you come back for dinner? Don't be a third wheel."
Adeline's hand paused slightly as she buttoned her coat.
After a moment, she smiled. "You're half right. I am going to be a third wheel, but not with them. Tonight, I shall accompany Blake and Lauren, playing the third wheel to Jasper and Luna."
