Chapter 824 What If the Child Was Switched?
Jasper hung up on Adeline and stared at the paternity test results in front of him.
The child who died a month ago wasn't his.
So, the maid wasn't lying. The child he and Adeline had wasn't that one.
But whether their child was still alive was still unknown.
Until he found the child and confirmed they were alive, Jasper didn't plan to tell Adeline.
She had just started to recover from the pain of losing their child. Giving her hope now...
If the final result was still bad, he feared Adeline wouldn't be able to handle it.
Jasper closed his eyes and leaned back on the couch.
He was almost certain that the person who used a sniper rifle to silence the maid today was Brandon.
Therefore, it was very likely that Brandon had swapped their child.
What was he up to?
Where was their child now?
Jasper rubbed his aching temples.
After a while, he looked up at Ryan. "What's Randy been up to lately?"
Ryan quickly opened his laptop, searched for a moment, and then respectfully reported, "Randy suffered significant losses to the Torres family's assets after several failed confrontations with me. Brandon removed him from the Torres Group."
"A month ago, he suddenly showed up with a girlfriend holding a baby, and the Torres family quietly held a wedding for him and sent them on a world tour."
Jasper narrowed his eyes.
Randy wasn't the type to get involved in romantic entanglements.
He appeared with a girlfriend and a baby almost at the same time Adeline gave birth.
Something was off.
Jasper squinted, "Track Randy's whereabouts."
Ryan hesitated, "Mr. Foster, are you suspecting that his child…"
"No."
Jasper smiled coldly, "Randy leaving might just be a smokescreen."
"But to be safe, and to make the other side think I've taken the bait, increase the tracking efforts."
Ryan was stunned for a moment, then quickly nodded. "Understood."
"And one more thing."
Jasper added, "Keep a close watch on Brandon too."
Early morning, the Torres Mansion.
Brandon had just gotten up when he received news that Jasper had gone to a DNA testing center after digging something up under the cherry blossom tree last night.
This news made him feel a chill run through him.
He had already had the child's body dug up.
What did Jasper use for the DNA test?
"Brandon, what do we do now?"
Daisy's face was pale with fear, and she whispered:
"Weren't we supposed to use Patty as a pawn later?"
"If Jasper finds out so soon…"
Wouldn't all their efforts be wasted?
"You should have anticipated this when the maid was exposed last night."
Brandon squinted, "Using a sniper rifle to kill someone in front of Jasper, he was bound to be suspicious."
Daisy bit her lip, "If you knew using a sniper rifle would make Jasper suspicious, why did you still…"
"Should I have let the maid tell Adeline that I stole her child?"
Brandon turned to Daisy with a cold look, "By silencing the maid, I bought time to make other arrangements. If the maid had spoken, would I have had time to move Patty?"
"How can you be so stupid?"
With that, Brandon adjusted his tie and coldly walked out the door. "Don't worry, I've got other plans."
Randy had been out of Oceancrest City for nearly a month. He had even found a woman to play the part of his girlfriend with a baby at the Torres Mansion.
Jasper wouldn't be able to trace it back to him anytime soon.
Daisy stood there, watching Brandon's back, her hands clenched into fists at her sides.
He kept mentioning Adeline and called her an idiot!
Brandon claimed he didn't care about Adeline, but in reality, he looked down on her and liked Adeline!
If it hadn't been for that accidental night eight months ago…
She would have been discarded by Brandon by now!
Why, why?
Zara and Howard liked Adeline, and Brandon liked Adeline too!
Daisy bit her lip.
Since everyone liked Adeline so much.
She would destroy Adeline!
Completely destroy her!
With that thought, Daisy took a deep breath, went back to her room, put on a beautiful and delicate makeup, and headed to the hospital.
At the hospital, Howard was lying in bed, angrily eating the breakfast Oliver had brought him while cursing:
"I've been sick for a whole day, and you just now come to see me!"
"Do you even care about your father?"
"Oliver! You have a child too. Do you want Joseph to treat you like this when you're old?"
Oliver lowered his head, peeling an apple, and chuckled softly, "If he's sensible enough not to bother me when I'm old, I'd be happy."
One sentence made Howard's blood pressure rise again!
He glared at Oliver, "Why are you here alone? Where's Joseph?"
"Where's my precious grandson?"
Oliver didn't look up, "He's with his sister."
Howard paused:
"Sister?"
"Yeah."
Oliver quickly placed the peeled apple on a plate and started peeling another one. "Another woman gave me a daughter. Now I have both a son and a daughter."
One sentence made Howard's eyes widen. "When did you get another daughter?"
Oliver shrugged. "I don't know when, but after she was born, a DNA test confirmed she's mine."
"Maybe it was from a drunken night with some woman."
Howard was so angry he started coughing. "Unfilial son, unfilial son!"
"You had another child out of wedlock! And you don't even know when it happened!"
Oliver smirked, "What, you don't like having a granddaughter?"
Then he continued peeling the apple, "But I see you like Daisy's daughter quite a bit."
Howard frowned, about to speak, when the door to the room opened.
Daisy walked in elegantly in high heels. "Oliver, how can you say that? You're not married, so having a daughter isn't respectable. It's normal for Father not to like it."
"My Patty is different. She's the product of Brandon's and my love. Father loves Brandon and me, so it's natural for him to dote on Patty."
Daisy's smug look made Oliver laugh coldly. "Is Patty really your and Brandon's child?"
Daisy snorted, "Of course!"
Oliver continued to laugh coldly, "But I don't think Patty looks like either of you."
"We're in a hospital that can do DNA tests."
"Why don't you get tested? What if the child was switched?"
