Chapter 528 What Are You Doing!

Adeline's words made Jasper let out a heavy sigh.

He reached over and fixed her messy hair. "You're talking nonsense again."

Jasper's comment left Adeline speechless.

She had wanted to tell Jasper that it was Bennett who accused her of being mentally unstable and domestic violence. She also wanted to explain that the man she hugged behind the rocks on the beach during the fireworks was actually Sebastian.

But Jasper's words made her swallow everything she was about to say.

What was the point of explaining to Jasper? To him, she was just spouting nonsense.

So, she shut her mouth, not wasting any more energy trying to explain.

To Jasper, though, it seemed like she was just being obedient after getting caught.

Jasper sighed deeply. He blamed himself.

While Adeline was waking up, he was busy arranging Blake's bone marrow transplant and taking care of the donor, forgetting to check on Adeline's mental health.

Now that he thought about it, Adeline had lived with Bennett for six years, and a tragic accident left no trace of Bennett's remains. Adeline might really be struggling to move on from her grief.

And during her most sorrowful time, Blake was seriously ill, Lauren was withdrawn, and he was busy taking care of Luna. So, it led to Adeline's current mental breakdown, right?

As he sighed, Jasper couldn't help but reach out and smooth her hair. "I'll definitely get you better; don't worry."

Adeline sneered, not even bothering to look up at him.

Soon, the sound of an ambulance was heard outside.

Adeline knew that the car from the mental hospital had arrived to pick her up.

How could she have imagined that a few hours ago, she was still resting peacefully at home? Now, she was being treated as a mental patient, with a special car sent by the mental hospital to pick her up.

These people came too quickly; Adeline didn't even have time to hide, let alone notify Mia and Violet.

Adeline closed her eyes, her hands tightly clenched together.

The sound of the ambulance stopped.

The car door opened.

Chaotic footsteps quickly came in from the villa's front door.

Upstairs.

The bedroom door was pushed open.

Adeline listened to these sounds with her eyes closed; she felt that each step was like a knife cutting her, leaving her in agony.

"Mr. Foster." The man in the white coat took the mental evaluation report that Jasper handed over, which was just written by Scott. "Dr. Smith is an excellent doctor. His evaluation can't be wrong. This woman's mental illness is so severe that she indeed needs to be hospitalized."

With that, the man waved his hand to the two people beside him.

Adeline was roughly thrown onto the stretcher. Even on the stretcher, her hands and feet were still bound. The wounds and blood on her hands increased, almost staining the ropes around her wrists red.

Jasper felt a bit heartbroken seeing this.

He turned his face away, not daring to look at her. He reminded them, "Make sure to treat her wounds properly once she gets to the hospital. Her hands are quite beautiful; don't leave any scars."

The man in charge quickly nodded. "Don't worry, Mr. Foster. We will provide the best treatment for this lady!"

After saying that, he had Adeline carried away.

Lying on the stretcher, Adeline opened her eyes.

First thing she saw was Luna clinging to Jasper's arm, leaning into him.

Luna said, "Jasper, Miss Wilson is so pitiful, losing her child and suffering from such an incurable mental illness. You must make sure the hospital takes good care of her."

As she spoke, Luna even started to wipe her tears. "If I had known Miss Wilson was like this, I wouldn't have argued with her earlier."

Adeline sneered.

Luna and Jasper faded from view, but their insincere voices still reached her faintly. It was disgusting.

Adeline was taken to the mental hospital.

Everyone there was polite to her, and the guy who had come to pick her up even personally treated the wounds on her hands.

Adeline watched him seriously applying medicine to her wounds, her brows slightly furrowed. "Can you untie the ropes on my wrists?"

The ropes had been binding her for almost six hours, and the skin where they touched was already chafed. Any movement caused excruciating pain.

But the guy just smiled coldly. "I'm afraid that's not possible. If we untie your ropes, something might happen during your treatment later."

Adeline froze. "What treatment are you talking about?"

"Electromagnetic stimulation therapy," he said as he applied a bandage to her wound. "We'll use electromagnetic stimulation to improve your brain environment. Mr. Smith specifically noted in the mental evaluation report that it would be particularly effective for you."

Adeline bit her lip hard with her eyes shut.

She had to find a way to escape.

If she stayed here, even if she didn't have a mental illness, she would be tortured into having one eventually!

All afternoon, Adeline underwent various treatments prescribed by Scott.

Electromagnetic stimulation, with electrodes placed on her body to shock her.

Physical acupuncture, with silver needles inserted into her body one by one.

There was also medication. Adeline was fed some unknown drugs, making her whole body weak and powerless.

After just a few hours of so-called treatment, Adeline already looked just like the other dazed and lifeless patients in the mental hospital.

After dinner, Adeline lay on her bed, watching the moonlight filter through the small ventilation window, her tears streaming down uncontrollably.

Here, she had no secrets; she had no self; even her body was controlled by others. How could she escape? How could she find her Blake and Lauren, and her Bennett?

Adeline wanted to cry. She wanted to sit up. But she had no strength at all.

She could only lie on the bed, letting her tears fall into her ears and then onto the pillow.

She didn't know how long it had been when suddenly, a pleasant bird call sounded outside.

Adeline, who was in a daze, came to her senses.

The bird call outside sounded several more times.

Adeline could tell it wasn't a real bird call; it was a human voice!

She forced herself to get up from the bed.

Suddenly, a white paper ball was thrown in through the ventilation window.

Someone was looking for her! Adeline was both surprised and delighted; she quickly tried to get out of bed.

But her body was too weak; as soon as her legs touched the ground, she fell to her knees.

The loud noise alerted the nurse on duty outside.

The nurse turned on the light and pushed the door open. "What are you doing!"
