Chapter 440 Let's Have a Baby
Adeline just stood there, frozen.
Even with the sun blazing above, she felt this weird, bone-chilling cold creeping in.
She thought, 'This dried-up bouquet of baby's breath is from Molly. Is she back in Radiance Springs? Why'd she send flowers to Bennett? Is she rubbing it in, or trying to mess with us?'
Flashes of Molly almost taking out Bennett and Lauren zipped through Adeline's mind.
She bit down on her lip, feeling like she was sinking into a freezing pit.
'Molly's back in Radiance Springs,' she thought.
With Brandon's influence abroad, she hadn't worried about Molly's retaliation. But here in Radiance Springs, things were different.
Jasper had a new girl; no one was there to watch their backs.
Adeline stood there, biting her lip hard.
With Molly back, she had to be extra careful and protect Blake and Lauren like a hawk.
And she had to wrap up her deal with Jasper ASAP and get out of there!
So, in the upcoming jewelry competition, she had to bring her A-game and not mess up.
Thinking this, Adeline took a deep breath, chucked the bouquet Molly sent into the trash, and softly promised Bennett's tombstone she'd protect Blake and Lauren before turning to leave.
But as she walked out of the cemetery, she bumped into Jasper and Luna.
Jasper had his arm around Luna's waist, helping her as they walked towards Bennett's grave.
Adeline frowned and blocked their path.
"Mr. Foster and Ms. Jones, where are you off to so early?" she asked.
Jasper frowned, giving Adeline a cold stare. "We were handling some stuff nearby, and Luna wanted to visit Bennett."
Adeline smirked. "Ms. Jones is really full of love, huh? You actually thought of coming to the cemetery to visit my son?"
Luna, looking pale, leaned on Jasper's shoulder, coughing into her hand. "After all, Bennett is also Jasper's son. Jasper always talks about Bennett. Since we had some time, we decided to come see him."
She looked straight at Adeline. "I'm just here to visit. Ms. Wilson, you wouldn't mind that, would you?"
Adeline snorted. "I'm not exactly thrilled."
She crossed her arms, her eyes coldly scanning Jasper and Luna. "With Bennett barely gone, Mr. Foster is already with Ms. Jones. I've seen it all. Now Mr. Foster brings Ms. Jones to the cemetery to visit Bennett. Do you really miss the kid? Or is it because Ms. Jones's health hasn't bounced back after surgery, and you think Bennett's spirit is causing trouble, so you're putting on a show?"
She glared at Jasper. "Whether you care about Bennett or not, hecan see it from above. No need to come here and fake it."
Seeing Adeline's angry eyes, Jasper laughed. "You're right. Bennett will see everything I do, and I believe he'll understand whether I love him or not."
After that, Jasper led Luna around Adeline and headed towards Bennett's grave.
Adeline just stood there, her hands clenched into fists.
She turned around, watching them walk away, a cold smile creeping onto her face. "Mr. Foster, Ms. Jones isn't in the best shape. Maybe you should avoid dragging her to cold, remote places like cemeteries. If her condition gets worse, it won't be pretty."
Adeline knew her words were harsh, maybe even a bit cruel.
But right now, she had no way to stop Jasper from bringing Luna to Bennett's grave.
As soon as she finished, Jasper and Luna stopped in their tracks.
Jasper turned, his face darkening as he glared at Adeline. "Adeline!"
His voice was icy. "Some things you can say off the cuff, but some you can't! Luna's health isn't something to joke about! Don't let me hear you say such nasty things again!"
After that, he gently patted Luna's shoulder. "Don't let it get to you."
With that, he continued walking with Luna.
This was the first time Jasper had spoken to Adeline with such a cold tone.
Adeline could see he was genuinely pissed.
She bit her lip, and after a moment, she couldn't help but laugh bitterly.
Of course, in his eyes, Bennett's grave was just a place to bring his new girlfriend for a casual visit.
And as Bennett's mom, she still got scolded for saying a few harsh words.
She was surprised she didn't cry.
Maybe it was because she had long since given up on Jasper?
She took a deep breath, walked out of the cemetery, and grabbed a cab to leave.
What Adeline didn't notice was a black car parked on the main road outside the cemetery the whole time.
Molly quietly watched Adeline come, watched Jasper and Luna come, and then watched Adeline leave.
When Adeline's figure vanished, Molly coldly picked up her phone. "How are the two of them recovering?"
The other end replied, "Mr. Collins, everything is under your control."
Back at the cemetery.
Standing in front of Bennett's tombstone, Luna wiped her tears pitifully. "Jasper, Ms. Wilson is so mean. We came here today to choose my final resting place and then visit Bennett. Why did she say that about me?"
Jasper sighed, gently raising his hand to wipe away her tears. "Don't mind her."
Luna cried even harder, throwing herself into Jasper's arms. "Jasper, do you think what Ms. Wilson said is true? Will I really die early?"
Jasper sighed, gently rubbing her head. "No, you won't. Didn't the doctor say? You still have a year."
Jasper's words made Luna bite her lip.
Sure enough, Jasper still remembered she only had a year left. She had to have Jasper's child before the year was up. Otherwise, when the truth came out, Jasper would never forgive her!
Thinking of this, she bit her lip and buried her head in Jasper's chest. "Jasper, do you think Bennett is watching us from heaven now? How about we have a child, just as if Bennett has returned to you, okay?"
