Chapter 419 I Want to See Him
"What do you mean?" Blake gripped the phone, frowning as he asked.
Jason sighed, glanced at Jasper lying on the bed, and stepped into the hallway. "We're at the hospital. There was a party last night. Jasper drank with me, then his stomach acted up, and now he's out cold."
Listening to Jason, Blake's eyes widened instinctively.
Blake thought, 'Last night, didn't Jasper come over to see Adeline?'
He remembered Adeline coming back with red eyes around 10:30 PM.
At that time, it was impossible for Jasper to have been at a party.
But Jason's words didn't seem entirely off either.
So Blake guessed that Jasper left Blue Bay last night and went straight to drink with Jason.
And his stomach acted up from drinking. Jasper must have drunk a lot, right?
Jasper's usually pretty controlled; if it was just a party, he wouldn't have drunk that much.
So Blake figured Jasper and Adeline must have had a fight last night.
And the result of the fight was that they both felt terrible.
After Adeline came home, she cried. But after Blake awkwardly comforted her, she went to her room to sleep.
This morning, she even went to work full of energy.
And Jasper, after leaving here last night, must have gone drinking. He drank so much that he completely lost his senses.
Blake suddenly remembered why he called Jasper. "Jason, did Mr. Foster do anything crazy after getting drunk last night? Like, buying all the roses from nearby cities to send to my mom?"
Jason on the other end of the phone instantly froze. "What do you mean?"
Blake felt there was no need to hide it from him.
"Here's the thing; my mom got several truckloads of red roses this morning. I found out online that someone bought all the roses from nearby cities to send to her. And that person was Mr. Foster at 3 a.m. last night."
He frowned, recalling last night.
Jasper drank with him at the bar from 11 PM to 4 AM.
At 3 AM, he couldn't hold it and went to the bathroom. When he came back, the almost senseless Jasper mysteriously smiled at him. "I've found a way to make her happy. I will make her happy."
At that time, Jason didn't take his words seriously, thinking he was just drunk and talking nonsense.
Seeing Jason not speaking, Blake had already guessed what happened last night.
He sighed. "As expected. He only treats my mom well when he's drunk."
Jason paused. "Blake, that's not the case. You all misunderstand Jasper. Actually, he always..."
"Jason," Blake interrupted him, "How is Mr. Foster now?"
"Not good." Jason sighed. "He vomited blood at 4 AM, so I brought him to the hospital. After a few hours of emergency treatment, he's out of life-threatening danger, but he's still unconscious."
After saying that, he pursed his lips. "Blake. Since Adeline has received those roses, is she feeling better now?"
Blake pouted. "What are you trying to imply?"
"Can you persuade Adeline to come to the hospital to see him?" Jason turned his head and glanced through the door crack at the still unconscious and pale Jasper, then lowered his voice. "The doctor said he will definitely wake up. But when he wakes up depends on external stimuli."
Blake on the other end of the phone pouted. "He has Ms. Jones. Moreover, what does it matter to me when he awakens?"
Jason tried to reason with him, "Jasper is the CEO of the Foster Group! If he's unconscious for a day, thecompany lacks its backbone for a day, causing huge losses!"
Blake said, "But what does that have to do with me?"
He frowned and had to play his trump card. "You’ve got less than a week before your surgery, and he hasn’t transferred your medical expenses to Adeline yet. If he stays out cold, it’s gonna mess up not just the Foster Group but also your condition!"
Jason’s words made Blake go silent for a moment.
Blake was worried about Jasper, but thinking about how Jasper made Adeline sad and had an affair with Luna made him really uncomfortable.
But Jason was right; his condition couldn’t be delayed.
Adeline already lost Bennett; she couldn’t lose him too.
So Blake took a deep breath. "Alright, I’ll find some time to talk to Mom."
After saying this, Blake hung up .
Listening to the busy tone, Jason sighed deeply.
Actually, Jasper’s condition was way worse than he let on.
Six years ago, when he thought Adeline was dead, he drank like he didn’t care about his life.
In just one month, he lost a ton of weight, and his health went downhill fast.
No matter what he and the Foster family tried, they couldn’t pull Jasper back from the edge.
Eventually, he got seriously ill, and it was Molly’s constant recitation of Adeline’s name at his bedside that finally woke him up.
Now Jasper’s old illness had come back, and it was just like before.
The doctor said the old methods might not work this time.
So Jasper could only hope Blake could convince Adeline to come over.
After clearing the roses from her office, Adeline didn’t have much time to think about who sent them.
She just tidied up her desk and started her work.
To her surprise, Luna, who was an intern, stayed quiet all day, except for the morning when they clashed as she reprimanded the staff.
Luna’s quietness made her uneasy.
At the end of the day, as Adeline was organizing her files, she squinted her eyes and glanced at Luna, who was working diligently outside the office.
She thought, 'Luna is really off.'
If Luna didn’t look for Jasper in the morning because it was too early and Jasper wasn’t in the office, making it impossible for her to complain to him, then what about now? She had been quiet all day; did that mean Jasper hadn’t come to work all day?
That was unlikely. Jasper was a notorious workaholic. Whether it was six years ago or now, work had always been more important to him than his personal life or love. How could he not come to work?
At this moment, Amelia, who always hoped Luna would look after her, smiled ingratiatingly at Luna. "Luna, are you going straight home after work, or are you going to the CEO’s office to wait for Mr. Foster?"
Luna smiled gently at her. "I’m going home by myself. Jasper didn’t come to work today."
"Would you like to go shopping with me, Ms. Jones?" After saying this, Amelia quickly smiled and continued to flatter Luna. "Ms. Jones, you’re amazing. Mr. Foster has never taken a day off in all these years. Being with Ms. Jones, he even knows to rest now. It must be all thanks to you!"
Luna pursed her lips and said softly, "He’s not resting; he’s sick."
After saying this, Luna glanced meaningfully at Adeline’s office.
Their eyes locked, and Luna sneered before looking away. "I won’t go to the mall with you. I need to take care of Jasper."
After saying this, Luna picked up her handbag and turned to leave.
Adeline sneered and thought, 'Jasper is sick? Serves him right.'
At this moment, Adeline’s phone rang.
It was Blake calling. "Mom."
Blake took a deep breath on the other end of the line. "I heard Mr. Foster is in the hospital. I want to visit him. Is that okay?"
