Chapter 41 Is Mr. Foster Awake?

The man's breath grew erratic.

Once, Adeline had longed for Jasper to kiss her so willingly.

But she had been married to him for three years.

He had never once initiated.

In both daily life and their intimate relationship, she always had to take the initiative.

Before, she thought it was because he wouldn't take the initiative.

Now, she finally understood the bitter truth.

It wasn't that he couldn't take the initiative, but that he couldn't take the initiative with her.

She was just a maid who had been working by Jasper's side for half a month, yet he could kiss her with such abandon.

Thinking about all this, Adeline's gaze grew colder.

"Smack!"

A clear and loud sound resonated through the courtyard.

Jasper's handsome face was pushed to the side.

His features hardened, and clarity returned to his gaze.

He turned his head. His eyes were filled with anger. "Did you just hit me?"

Adeline, retracting her hand, which now throbbed with pain, faced Jasper with an icy expression. "Mr. Foster did something wrong. Shouldn't I hit him?"

She looked at him contemptuously. Her eyes were filled with sarcasm. "Is Mr. Foster awake now?"

Jasper remained silent and fixed his icy gaze on Adeline.

His eyes were so cold that Adeline felt like the air around her was almost freezing. She fearlessly met his gaze.

"Isn't this what you've always wanted?" After a moment, Jasper stared at her face with cold eyes, a mocking smile playing at the corners of his lips. "Adeline, playing hard to get is called clever once, but twice, it's called foolish."

"Mr. Foster is a little too self-assured," she said.

"And what if I am?" He wiped his lips, and a hint of bloodlust appeared on his face. "Imitating my wife at every turn, willingly becoming a maid in my house, deliberately pleasing my daughter, and even trying to sow discord between me and my fiancée. Adeline, you are trying to seduce me. Don't think I don't know!"

Adeline narrowed her eyes. Her hands gradually clenched into fists by her sides.

She looked at him and said, "Mr. Foster sure likes to joke. When did I try to create discord between you and Molly?"

She conceded the other points he had made. Yes, she wanted his attention. But in regards to Molly, it was clear that it was Molly who intentionally caused trouble every time!

Yet this man was able to push all the blame onto her. Besides saying that Jasper truly loved Molly, what else could she say?

The man's dangerous gaze intensified, and his lips curled into a cold smile as he approached her. "Didn't you?"

Adeline instinctively took a step back.

Finally, with no more room to retreat, she stood her ground, steadied herself, and stared at Jasper's face. "So, Mr. Foster, you actually care about your fiancée! If you care that much, why did you try to kiss me just now? Is Mr. Foster simply fond of the excitement that comes with betraying your loved ones?"

When they were together, he cheated on her with Molly. And now that he was with Molly, he still flirted with her behind Molly's back.

His gaze suddenly turned icy. "Say that again!"

There was a glimpse of murderous intent in his eyes.

Adeline watched him coldly. Defiance filled her eyes.

"Daddy, Auntie!"

Just as the tension between the two was escalating, a child's voice broke the silence in the yard.

A little girl wearing a pink dress with blueberry patterns stood at the doorway, looking at the two of them with sleepy eyes. "It's late. Why aren't you two sleeping?"

As she finished speaking, she ran over to Adeline and hugged her slender legs. "I woke up. I can't sleep."

The words and actions of her daughter instantly awakened Adeline's rationality. She turned her head lightly and glanced at Jasper. "Mr. Foster, please move aside. I need to go and help Miss Lauren to sleep."

After speaking, she squatted down and carried Lauren in her arms. She pushed Jasper and walked quickly toward the villa.

Jasper stood still, frowning as he watched the woman's disappearing figure.

When the villa's door closed, Jasper's deep eyes revealed an unfathomable darkness.

After a while, he took out his phone and dialed a number. "Prepare the car."

On the other end of the phone, Ryan's voice sounded lazy from just waking up. "Mr. Foster, it's so late. Where are you going?"

"To the company."

Ryan was shocked. He couldn't speak for a while. "Didn't you bring all your work back to the villa today? Why do you want to go to the company again?"

"I changed my mind." Jasper's voice was exceptionally cold. "What? Do you have a problem with it?"

Ryan didn't dare to voice any objections.

He quickly got out of bed and rushed to Blue Bay. He helped Jasper move a large stack of files from the study to the car and then drove him to the company.

Sitting in the back seat of the car, Jasper looked at the rapidly passing night view outside the window and furrowed his brows deeply.

He couldn't explain why, but Adeline's face persistently haunted his thoughts.

Her face was so stunningly beautiful. She had surprise and anger in her eyes when he almost kissed her just now.

He didn't know what was happening to him.

Clearly, he was deeply in love with someone else. His heart belonged to his wife.

But why did he feel angry, even furious, when he heard Adeline make that intimate phone call?

Seeing her happily talking on the phone, he lost his composure!

What was wrong with him?

Could it be that he, like other men, was becoming unfaithful?

No, that couldn't happen.

His longing for Adeline had lasted five years.

In these five years, even if he set aside Molly, there were countless beautiful and outstanding women coming in and out of his life.

He had encountered women who were just as beautiful as Adeline.

But none of those women made him have the same irresistible impulse as Adeline.

The car had already arrived at the Foster Group building.

He got out of the car and was about to ask Ryan to bring the files upstairs when someone rushed out of the building.

Two security guards were there.

It was Tim and Tom, who, along with a little boy, had saved Lauren at the amusement park.

"Mr. Foster, are you working this late? Allow us to help you with the files!"

Tim and Tom eagerly ran up to greet him.

Jasper thought of the little boy.

He furrowed his brow and glanced at Tim beside him. "Do you still have contact with that little boy?"

Tim frowned. "Little boy?"

"It's Bennet!" Tom, who was holding the files, shouted loudly.

Tim smacked his forehead. "We're in touch with Bennet. We were just chatting with him online."

"Hmm."

Jasper frowned lightly. "Get him over here."

"I'll find him."
